    Bagged salad

Worst steak I've ever had!!! The owners don't understand English very well, the service was abysmal, and they didn't check on us once. Plastic utensils. I think they had a below usda legal meat cut if that exists. Bagged salad. Plain baked potato. Had to ask for butter and sour cream. Asked for shredded cheddar and they gave me whipped cream cheese. I eventually got mozzarella? No steak sauce--they brought me Tabasco? Seriously if you are trying to get a bite to eat coming out of the northeast entrance--please do yourself a favor and don't eat here. For context, I have never left a bad food review. This is that bad and then some.

Not much open or available in the area for late lunch after a great drive thru Yellowstone where we saw about 100 bison today. We were pretty hungry and were happy to find an open place to eat in Cooke City. Nothing fancy, but good burgers and sandwiches, and such nice people running the restaurant. During busier times I hope there would be more vegetarian options.

We had 2 great burgers with hand made patties. Homemade fries were great too! Typical seasonal restaurant ambience.

We shared the SBL Power Pastrami / Reuben for dinner our first night, and had the Cheese Steak Hoagie to go a couple days later.

Unfortunately, the Beartooth Pass was closed between Red Lodge and Cooke City because of snow and high winds -- so we took the longer route that included the Chief Joseph Highway and yet still encountered some snow and sleet on the high elevation Colter Pass. Upon reaching Cooke City, we were ready to treat ourselves with some hot beverages and a piece of dessert. We stumbled upon the Beartooth Cafe. Upon entering, we informed the hostess that we were interested in hot beverages and a dessert and she apologized that they offered only "plain coffee", not the specialty coffees of a restaurant down the street. Perfect, we didn't need a fancy roast. My husband ordered a hot coffee ($3.75), while I ordered hot tea ($3.75). We split a slice of Amish Apple Pie ($11.75). The pie was delicious, and tasted home-made. My husband's coffee was good, and I was offered a tray with tea options. However, by the time taxes and tip were added, we felt that $25 was just too much for two plain (non-specialty) beverages and a split dessert (even in a touristy area with a limited season). Our server was friendly, but we weren't offered refills of the coffee and/or tea until after we had already asked for our check and were ready to depart. The ambiance was Montana rustic. Free parking was directly in front of the restaurant.

The place buzzes with lots of great energy the moment you pull up to it! And the staff are super friendly and helpful! We got tickets for dinner and show. The dinner is a Chuck wagon style all you can buffet brisket, chicken, and lots of sides! Brisket and chicken were TENDER and moist! SO GOOD! Mac & cheese was my favorite side dish. There was also salad, beans, and cornbread. Lemonade and iced tea was included (I made myself an Arnie Palmer). Free refills! And there were brownies and ice cream for dessert! Food was served hot and fast! I can't say enough how friendly the staff were! The show featured the Triple C band!!! And THEY WERE AMAZING! I enjoy country music but I'm not a die-heart fan and even I enjoyed every song they played! And they were hilarious and really gave the audience a great show!! After each member was introduced they would play a song that highlighted that band member's talent and boy - THEY WERE INCREDIBLY TALENTED! they had us on our feet dancing and rocking! It was super fun! And they were also on time! I came on my first night in town so I was tired... they started on time and they finished on time! So I felt like they really respected my time and my energy! Will definitely recommend to others!
