Do yourself a favor and order the mountain man burger. After a morning full of hiking this hit the spot. Maybe the best burger I've had. Service was fast. We arrived just before a wave.

We spent the morning at Lamar Valley and decided to drop by the small quaint town for a quick breakfast. Not having internet connection, we tried this place out of whim. It's your average breakfast diner joint with limited menu options . I got the combo #1 which came with egg, choice of meat, pancake and toast. It was alright and expected. My son got the French coast combo #4 with choice of meat. My wife got the breakfast special. Overall, it filled our tummy but nothing to write a 4 stars review on. The wait staff was very nice although the interior looked a bit run down.

Trout, French fries, veggies, and salad!

The food here was terrific! The French fries are homemade and amazing!! The service was decent! We sat outside, which was very nice! We did end up spending $70 for two people, and the restrooms were small and not the best in town

Small breakfast spot in Cooke City to stop before heading into Yellowstone NP. Not much else was open so we decided to try this place out. The service was great. Not very busy here thankfully. Good was very filling and great. I ended up cleaning my plate and sharing across the table too! Bacon wasn't the usual crispy bacon I'm used to but still cooked and tasty though. Eggs and hash browns were fantastic and I was so full after stopping here! Coffee here wasn't quite a favorite though. I did hear that the coffee/tea at elevation can be a little weaker so I'm not sure if that's what it was. I'd recommend stopping in through if you are taking this route into or out of Yellowstone though.

Decided to grab lunch here after driving across Lamar valley. The place had both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a bit busy when we arrived around 12pm but got even busier when we left around 1pm. I went with the rainbow trout which was cooked in a pan. I wished they had a healthier version where it was grilled. It tasted ok. My included fries they were crunchy in terms of texture which is always a plus but tasted a bit dull as if they were out for a while. My wife went with the salad that had turkey. It was just an average salad. Finally we got two coffees and they were pretty cold. We had a weird incident where our waitress refused to give us the WiFi password stating it was for employee use only but overheard the other waitress giving it to another customer. We just asked the other waitress to give us the password and she did. Overall would try a different place if I were here

Cheeseburger and fries, made fresh to order and very delicious!

Hamburger served was raw. Only one person speaks English if you have a question. No AC and it's 90 degrees.

Unfortunately, the Beartooth Pass was closed between Red Lodge and Cooke City because of snow and high winds -- so we took the longer route that included the Chief Joseph Highway and yet still encountered some snow and sleet on the high elevation Colter Pass. Upon reaching Cooke City, we were ready to treat ourselves with some hot beverages and a piece of dessert. We stumbled upon the Beartooth Cafe. Upon entering, we informed the hostess that we were interested in hot beverages and a dessert and she apologized that they offered only "plain coffee", not the specialty coffees of a restaurant down the street. Perfect, we didn't need a fancy roast. My husband ordered a hot coffee ($3.75), while I ordered hot tea ($3.75). We split a slice of Amish Apple Pie ($11.75). The pie was delicious, and tasted home-made. My husband's coffee was good, and I was offered a tray with tea options. However, by the time taxes and tip were added, we felt that $25 was just too much for two plain (non-specialty) beverages and a split dessert (even in a touristy area with a limited season). Our server was friendly, but we weren't offered refills of the coffee and/or tea until after we had already asked for our check and were ready to depart. The ambiance was Montana rustic. Free parking was directly in front of the restaurant.

Let's start with the positive: They're generous here. They have a good assortment of non alcoholic beverages and you can help yourself to seconds with the food after everyone's had firsts. The wagon ride was pretty cool, our driver and host were entertaining, and we were allowed to visit with the horses for a bit too. So what's my beef? THE BEEF! The steak was very inconsistent and mine was awful...twice! I asked for medium and it was well done....twice. Dry and tough and half of it was straight up fat. My friend, on her second round, got a steak that was so marbled it looked like A5 wagyu! She was so full by then she couldn't finish. Her son wouldn't let it go to waste and took one for the team and gobbled it up. I looked on enviously the entire time. Most of sides and dessert were meh. The one exception was the Roosevelt beans that were the BOMB! I don't even like beans, but these were fantastic. Many in our party also commented favorably on them. Nice they gave us the recipe! At almost $75/pp for adult, this is a pricy! If you do this, go for the experience and not the food! Food: 1.5/5 Excursion: 3/5 _____________ * OK, so that might not be a lie. It might be the best food in Yellowstone, but that's only because the other food options suck too! We sampled many throughout the park on our first trip years ago and brought most of our food in this time because we knew we weren't missing out on anything.
