I've been going here for over 40 years, and have even been a DJ there. Good size menu and pretty large portions. The food is very good. They serve the standard fare (chicken, steaks, seafood, etc... Daily & early bird specials cannot be beat. You get a complete meal that includes your entree, soup, salad, veggie, your choice of potato, and a small desert at the end. The best deal in town. It's also Kid friendly (unfortunately). The place has a connected full bar via a door that separates dining from bar and live music club that offers local hipster bands on weekends. They also have Karaoke several nights a week (this is just annoying to me). But all the noise and music starts up after dining room is closed for the night so you won't be bother while dining. You can also just sit and eat Pub Grub at their bar. Highly recommend it. You will eat very well and be totally full.

Pricey menu but I really enjoyed the salad/soup/bread bar concept! My boyfriend was told that this was the place to go for prime rib so we came to give it a try. Along with a regular cut (12 oz) prime rib, we also shared 1/2 rack of ribs. Both were great - both were nice cuts of meat, the prime rib was cooked to the desired doneness, and the ribs were tender enough to fall off the bone. My only criticism would be for my side dish, which I chose to be garlic mashed potatoes. It was lacking in flavour, texture, and creaminess - disappointingly tasting like a bland pile of mush. The salad bar was interesting, offering a variety of toppings, but I found that some of the options were not very fresh. The soup/bread however... WOW! The bread was delicious! Freshly baked in the restaurant, the rounded muffin breads were so soft and fluffy and warm. Perfect to go alongside the two soups that were being offered. I had two servings of the seafood chowder because it was just so good! I assume the main meal prices are set so high because it covers the cost of the self-serve salad/soup/bread bar. In any case, I was won over by the soup and bread so I would definitely come back in the future.

The blackened pork chop was cooked to perfection - moist and juicy. I really enjoyed the apple sauce and vegetables, which paired really nicely with the pork. The Malfadine pasta was also nice. It was my first time trying rabbit - if I didn't know better, I would have believed it was chicken. It wasn't gamey in the slightest. The truffle flavour was more subtle than I expected. Though it's hard to critique the cook on either dish, I wouldn't say it was outstandingly delicious or unique. I am not necessarily eager to come back to try other things on the menu. To our surprise, the restaurant also gave us 2 desserts on the house! The cheesecake and tart were both very good and not overly sweet. Though I wish I had ordered their signature raspberry dessert instead of the lemon tart as it seems more unique. Overall, very good food and service. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Once we stepped in, we were warmly greeted with a lively dining room, and were quite surprised with the diversity and uniqueness of the menu. We started with Canadian old-fashions, and crab cakes. For dinner had their bus 16 oz steak special which was very nicely done, and the rabbi pasta. We Wish we had more room to try the pizzas because they looked great. We Finished it off with the peanut butter cheesecake. The waitress was charming and very helpful with making our decisions, even though she was supporting a very busy room. A real gem for thunder Bay, great place and great value. It's well worth the five minute drive away from the touristy downtown choices.

Walked in around 7pm and were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or dining room. We chose the dining room so we walked down the narrow wooden floor hallway to a back area where their dining area was. The table already had drink menus on it which makes sense as reviews say this restaurant is great for cocktails and they have a huge selection of wines. Our server soon brought over water for us and food menus. She asked if either of us had any food allergies, which we didn't. Also explained which section was appetizers/shareable plates and which were mains. Also mentioned that the menu is seasonal and everything on it currently is so good. After giving us some time to choose, she took our order. We ordered one shareable, Tuna Crudo. It was well balanced being sweet, sour, creamy, fresh, and with a tiny little kick. It made it evident that the mains would be really tasty as well. Server came back to not only take away the empty plate, but also swapped out our small plates and cutlery for new ones. Both of our mains arrived at the same time, descriptions of what ingredients were in each. Portion size was definitely fair (not too little and not huge) so we left satisfied and full, but not stuffed. Only regret was that we were only a party of 2, otherwise would have loved to order their Family Style Tasting (the table next to us had it and everything looked delicious). In terms of ambience, seating is cozy, as there isn't a whole lot of space between tables, but it's workable. As well, the lighting is pretty dim for our preference, but can understand why others might enjoy it. We walked over from our hotel, but looks like there is street parking in the area. Overall, had a very pleasant dining experience and service and hospitality was top-notch.

Rather, the friendly service, innovative cookery, and high quality, locally sourced ingredients speak for themselves. I was in town to celebrate my birthday and this place was so special. Also if you want something a little more casual, they have a pizza place a few blocks away tucked inside a brewery, which is also fantastic!

Came here with my buddy and were quite let down to say the least. Right off the bat, we ordered the escargot. It had a really grainy texture to it, to the point I took out a piece of something I thought might have been shell fragments. The wonderful waitress went to check about it and said the kitchen staff said it could be a muscle, at which point I dropped the fragment on the plate and it made a very clear *clink noise. She checked again and said they weren't sure what it was and comped me a salad which was nice. I requested balsamic on the salad however I could not find a hint of balsamic in the salad. Regardless on to the main course. I had the top sirloin, my friend had the prime rib. The good first. The presentation was really nice, I loved the cooking the steak on the stone concept, the beets and garlic mash were also good, the quality of the steak was very good, my friends prime rib was also good. But now the bad. The steak was OVERSEASONED. To the point where I had to cut the top and bottom of the steak. I had the saltiest taste in my mouth the whole time eating it, to the point it became a chore. While I type this now, 30 minutes after the meal, I still have this salty taste lingering on my tongue. I also ordered their signature lot 88 BBQ steak sauce which was lacklustre and extremely sweet. While I did enjoy the hot stone experience, I won't be returning.
