The best aides and nurses slowly left and it became a revolving door. The food was and still is (as of 2026) microwaved salty slop and horrendous. I do not blame the workers. I became friendly with one Aide who expressed dismay at how the management treated them. The hallways were smelly and neglected, the rugs started to get filthy and the walls were all banged up. My mom did not require excessive care, but if she started to, I would have moved her out of there (she passed away recently). I would not trust this place to care for someone with a lot of medical needs. Our calls to the head nurse and General Manager were often ignored. So what started out as a great place for Mom, ended being a source of anxiety. Thankfully my brother lived 5 minutes away and checked on her often, or else I fear she wouldn't have gotten her medication and she would have skipped meals. If you are not living nearby to keep tabs on your loved one, dont bother moving them here.

This review is primarily for the Memory Care Wing of Tequesta Terrace, which also has a larger,…read moremore independent Assisted Living Wing (which I have not visited). Tequesta Terrace is a beautiful facility. From the moment you pull up and park, you see that this property is well taken care of. The building looks more like a hotel; nothing about it- to me- screams institution. The front desk is always staffed by a smiling, welcoming woman, and I've spent time more than once in the comfortable waiting area/communal living room it opens onto. No matter what, I'm entering into a depressing situation- a loved one in a nursing home; thus, I appreciate even more the very non-depressing entrance! TT decorates heavily for most holidays. This gives the building a homey feel. The staff in the memory care wing have almost always been pleasant, with an easy smile for a visitor. This is so important; these staff members have a very trying and probably depressing job. Residents pass away constantly and only enter this wing in dire decline. I have witnessed staff at lesser facilities openly abuse residents verbally and physically; I can't imagine this happening here. I've visited at all times of the day, weekdays and weekends. I'm not saying that I see everything or that every staff person is perfect: I have had my share of frustrations with various details. I have also seen staff exhibit extreme patience and care for both residents and their concerned loved ones. I hope this means that staff here are paid justly for the work they do. The staff knows right away who I am visiting and where to find him. I find this surprising and endearing. Walking into the memory care wing, the spacious opening room opens with a grand piano, bookcase, and living room furniture. The memory care wing surrounds a beautiful, private courtyard with benches, tables and chairs, a fountain, and lovely landscaping. This space has been my saving grace. Although most residents aren't able to access this space on their own (due to memory reasons), it provides a wonderful space to interact with my loved one and give him fresh air and sunlight. The church bells from the Catholic Church nearby ring often. Lizards run everywhere, protected from predators. I wish they would plant butterfly plants and put up bird-feeders, to attract more wildlife, but in general it is a lovely space. When I first began visiting, I was always impressed with TT's ability to keep the wing smelling pretty good. It isn't always this way, but 75% of the time it smells ok. This is not easy task, to say the least. The main room where the residents spend most of their time has vaulted ceilings and skylights; it feels very open. I do think it is too small for all the residents. To fit everyone in, residents must sit next to each other, which causes problems, and there is very little space for walkers or wheelchairs to move freely, which is disappointing considering it is no small task for a resident to move about independently, let alone navigate around feet and walkers and furniture. I am hoping the staff will address this overcrowding soon. I am so grateful that my loved one is safe and well take care of. It is the best I could hope for in this situation (Alzheimer's). In the 1930's Florida began attracting snowbirds with Finnish roots. Today you can visit a Finish display in the Lake Worth Museum or attend the annual Midnight Sun Festival held annually in Bryant Park. There are also a number of businesses owned by and catering to visiting and resident Finnish and Finnish Americans. Another sign of the Finnish legacy in Lantana is the Finnish American Rest Home. When Lantana and Lake Worth area Finns expressed the need for a place where people could spend their retirement years in the comfort of their own customs Mr. Sam Miller invited everybody interested to attend a meeting at the Tourist Club on October 21, 1970. At this meeting, Mr. Janger donated the first $75.00 to establish the Finnish American Rest Home. The Finish Village has evolved to offer three different levels of care, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Assisted Living, and Home Care to transition people as people traverse the stages of aging. I was able to visit the Finish Village during the 3rd annual Scandinavian Christmas Market held November 20-22. The event had prepared food and pastries made by St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Lake Worth. The church was founded in 1953 by Finnish immigrants and the official languages of the congregation are English and Finnish. In addition to great food there were items hand made by the church, European candy, meat and cheese, Swedish Christmas ornaments, holiday decorations, jewelry, candles, and more for sale. Outside there were more vendor tents selling crafts and poinsettias and bounce houses for the kids. I have Swedish roots so I especially loved this cultural event. Admission was free which allowed me to be able to spend more liberally on gifts and food. This was my first time attending the Christmas Market but I hope to make it an annual tradition.

It is easy to get answers if you have questions and whatever you need the staff gets it done right away. The residents were on the dining room and the set up looks very pretty and the staff are supervising and very attentive to the needs of residents. Staff looks like they are happy to work here.

He's here to get IV antibiotics which as of 3pm have yet to appear. Rumor has it that it has a new owner, and the changes have resulted in extremely poor patient care and employees leaving. They are bad at administering meds and at answering bathroom requests. Everyone moves at one speed, a glacial pace.

(Not Uncommon these days) When he first got there he told me how nice the place was. Coming from my son that's good. He's like the Siskel and Ebert of program reviewers lol. He spent three weeks in their PHP program and then transistioned to the halfway house, He had a slip. Randy (Director) and Chris (works there) did everything in their power to get him back in detox. It was a monumental task but they did it. They communicated with me even in their off hours. They went above and beyond and didn't have to do that, but they did. I can't thank them enough for what they did. This place and staff is not about the money. They're about actually helping people with their addiction and getting them on the road to recovery. While my son was there PBR is very activity based. They did a lot with him from rope climbing to snorkeling, horseback riding to name a few. They're heavily meeting based. This is important because once you leave a program you MUST attend a 12 step program. They're 100% legitimate on insurance and billing. But if your insurance runs out they don't throw you to the gutter. They will do everything in their power to keep you in their program and if they can't for some reason they will make sure that your in another or a safe place. They're good people with good hearts ! When my son completes detox he's going back there. (I Hope) While he was at Palm Beach Recovery he looked and sounded the best he has in a long time. I had my son back. If your thinking about sending a loved one there all I can say from my experience is do it ! Will my son get better and recover ? No one knows. A person has to want to do it and be sick and tired of being sick and tired. Many people do recover. Some die. Some live a long time causing themselves grief and those around them grief. But if you want to give someone a really good shot, this is the place. Thanks again for everything you've done, and are trying to do !

Over the past year, my father's physical and mental (dementia) declined fairly precipitously. My…read moresister and I lived far from Vero and we were concerned about our father having no family in the area, yet needing care (and caring). We were blessed to then have Caron D'Ambruso (of Active Home Health) enter our lives. Initially is started with Caron helping clean and dress my father's skin cancer wounds which he had not been properly tending to. Not only Caron provide care for his wounds, she demonstrated a compassion and a caring for him as a person, something he desperately needed in his poor physical and isolated condition. Despite my father's decline, he was highly intelligent and a former trail lawyer who could be a bit of a "curmudgeon" and not easily trust people. Caron's loving and caring style, combined with her high intellect (she is a Harvard graduate), quickly earned her a special place in my father's life. He respected her greatly and lit up when she would visit to care for him. She wasn't just providing care for his physical wounds, but also his emotional ones. And that is because she actually cares for the people she is treating. Knowing that his two daughters lived in other states and cities, Caron provided us with updates and shared insights about his condition and care that he needed. This was instrumental in our knowing what additional resources and doctors he needed. On the morning I flew down to see my father and take him to a new neurologist for memory issues, my father collapsed in his apartment with a stroke. After landing, I called him on my drive to Vero Beach and he did not answer the phone. I called Caron and expressed my concern, and asked her to let me know if she saw my father in the common areas of the facility. I was about an hour away in the car and was anxious. Caron took it upon herself to go to his apartment. When she knocked, she could hear his small dog barking, but no one answered. Caron sought security who helped her enter his apartment and they found him on the floor in dried blood and urine. Caron immediately tended to him and called for an ambulance via 911. The paramedics arrived and Caron called me to let me know what had happened. I re-routed my rental car to the hospital. My Dad had to be in the hospital and then a rehab facility for over three weeks. During this treatment period, Caron visited my Dad on her personal time in both the hospital and rehab facility. She helped bring changes of clothing and other items he needed. Given my father's stroke and his lack of proximity to family, my sister and I decided that we needed to move him back to his hometown of Fort Lauderdale once he was released. This would get him closer to family and friends which he clearly needed. The saddest part of this decision was that Dad would lose his nurse and caring friend, Caron. It was a big loss indeed. Needless to say, Caron was a Godsend to my father and family. She continues to occasionally check in to see how he is recovering. We miss Caron and hope that others who are in the Vero Beach area are fortunate to have her care, and the other great caretakers at Home Health Care.
