I hate to do this, but it is richly deserved. My family and I were in Prost tonight for my DIL's 25th birthday. The place was busy, and we were seated in a small room near the bar. We were a party of 5. There were 3 other tables with only 1 occupied. 5:30 pm. Our waitress took the drink order and then the app order. We waited 30 minutes for the apps while the other tables were filling. Waitress comes back and takes our dinner order a little after 6. We're sitting there, having our drinks constantly refilled until the waitress didn't come back anymore. The other tables, who came in after us, were being served their dinner and then turning again. It's 6:45 now and I asked the other waitress to see the manager. Manager didn't appear but our waitress did to tell us our dinner was being made now. Really? Three orders of goulash, another app, and a knackwurst takes THAT long? So 7:15 our food comes out and not all at once. A few plates here, a side there, and no drink refills. Had to tell the woman who was serving that all of our order wasn't there, and she seemed flustered. Food wasn't good. Luke-warm, dumplings were tough, and it looked rushed onto the plate. Can we say 'last of what was left since it was close to closing time?'. That's a first for us with Prost. Now I'm furious. I asked for a manager again and finally someone came out. They gave excuses as to why we weren't treated right and why we were sitting in there nearly 2 hours waiting on dinner while other tables were turning who were there after us (each of those tables turned twice while we sat there). The kitchen was 2 people short, they were slammed, would you like a dessert. Good Lord I just spent 2 hours in what became an uncomfortable chair - I wanted out of there. So now the owner comes over and gives more of the same excuses. I told her I didn't want to hear it. My attitude is if you don't have enough staff? Time to turn customers away at the door since you can't give them the service their money is paying for. I will say this - that check arrived so fast it would make your head spin. Now what really happened? That waitress didn't put our order in until she realized she forgot. No one will tell me different. She was more concerned with the big dining room than with us. Prost was more concerned with just getting our money than making it right. Well they got it - for the last time. We followed them from Cecil to Aberdeen and have been going there for years. I figure when someone shows you who they are? Believe them. The sad part is the waitress for the other 3 tables? She's waited on us before and kept asking if she could do anything. I am sure she is the one who notified the kitchen and our own neglectful waitress that our order hadn't been given to the kitchen. I wanted to leave no tip for our waitress but my husband said no. She got one but nowhere near what I leave when we go there. Prost - What you told us tonight is our $180 to eat there wasn't as valuable to you as everyone else eating there. Somehow our $180 check was relegated to a lesser experience, lesser service and lesser food quality (they close at 8:00 pm) AND you felt entitled to it. Making excuses is your go-to and you lack integrity. Never again. read more

The food looks great and could be if the chef wasn't afraid of seasonings. My food was fresh but bland. The meat needed marinating before cooking. The breading lacked even salt and pepper. The house maid Black Forest cake looked great but was not sweet. A desert should be sweet. I hope the chef overcomes his fear of seasonings. Good beer and wine. Good food. Great bar service. Pretty authentic tasting German faire. Got the Saurbraten which was excellent as were the potato dumplings. Gave it 4 stars due to the red cabbage that looked a bit like it was from a can or frozen previously. My semmelknoedel was barely warm. My wife ordered the jaegerschnitzel, it was wholly unremarkable. The spaetzle were good. Gemuetlichkeit needs some work. The white walls and bright lighting could be more subdued. Our window could have used a drape. The pole light outside the window shone starkly into my wife's face. We will try them again. read more

Nice apthmosphere, nice accordion strolling musician, nice wait staff. Unfortunately I go to a resturaunt for food and this place did not make the cut. We ordered an appetizer of potato pancakes. That is exactly what we got. Potatos mashed and fried. No onions mixed in, no spices. Turns out the bottled apple sauce that came with it was better than the appitizer. I ordered the Jager Snitzel and the wife, Weiner Snitzel. Turns out both dishes are the same thing except the Jager has brown mushroom gravy. Both plates had the same pre-frozen breaded patties. Not sure what the meat was. By taste it could have been pork, chicken, cardboard, who knows? The wife's patties were so dry she asked for a side of gravy. When the check came we were charged $3.00 for the gravy when my dinner was the same price hers, same 2 patties and same spazel side??? Will not be returning. read more

I've lived in Cecil County for two years now and just tried Prost. I wish I've visited earlier. We went on a very busy December 23rd, with reservations, and we were sat down. Service was good, not excellent, we could have used a drink refresh during dinner. Food was authentic German and delicious! We will be back! read more

I was super excited for this restaurant to open, but sad to say I won't be frequenting here, even though it's less than a mile away. The reason why? 10 minutes before my reservation, I received a call saying they were out of most oftheir menu items. I really wanted to like this place after reading all the great reviews. Drove over an hour to try it. The waitstaff was super friendly (though a bit slow) and dressed in German outfits. The beer selection was impressive. The accordion music was lively and festive. Sadly, the food was disappointing. The schnitzel seemed to be deep-fried and not pan sauteed. And they were out of black forest cake before 7:30 on a Sat. night. So we got the plum torte which was sort of dry. The place was out in the middle of nowhere but was packed. So, it is obvious that lots of people like it. I'd highly recommend reservations. I'm glad I got to try it but will likely not go back. read more

My wife is German and I also love German food, so we always are looking for good German restaurants. PROST fills the bill! We just made our fifth visit, but the first to their new location in Aberdeen. We were delighted, not just because of the food, which always is great, but because of the new locale. It's much bigger than the former place in Port Deposit, and it's much more accessible with more parking. The weather was hot, so we did not take an outside seat. There were a few other diners, but we'd come in late after lunch, so that was not a surprise. They're still being careful because of COVID, so the interior was kind of sparse, lacking the traditional Bavarian tablecloths and other trappings. There was nice German music in the background, and at a volume that actually allowed us to talk without shouting. Our waitress, Elizabeth, was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I had a Jaegerschnitzel, which was perfect, and a load of spaetzle to go with it. Although not a German staple, I also had onion rings, which were hot, crispy, and tasty. My wife had the Rahmschwammerl (mushroom ragout) and was given so much we had to take some home. My only suggestion for improving things would be to have the staff understand some basic German words and phrases. While the owners are native Germans, the staff are locals. Being able to say a few words in German or to really understand the menu items, which are written in German, would improve the ambiance of the place. We will be back again! read more

Was my first time there. Was not impressed at all. Took 30.minutes to get a pretzel appetizer. Another hour to get our food. Had the snitzel that was just a deep fried breaded veal and pork patty. It was not home made. They didn't have any tables in there and it took over 2 hours to be served. read more

Short wait, but well worth it. The best German cuisine I have had in along time, the wife and both ate, with cocktails, dersert for less than $65.00 and both walked away very satisfied. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves German food and hospitality, two thumbs up for the accordion player as well. I love the effort they put into the atmosphere. The apparel, live accordion player, decor... and the owners are super friendly and love chatting up guests. A little pricy but the portions are very large, always leftovers. The food is excellent. If you enjoy sausage I would highly recommend the sampler plate for two (Bayrische Wurstl Platte für Zwei), and share it or just take home whatever you can't finish. My personal favorite is the Weisswurst (white sausage). The last visit I even bought some of their sweet mustard, which is super tasty! read more

Hostess was sweet, helpful and wonderful. Unfortunately the experience was ruined by a very bad server. We had to ask the hostess to find our server more than once. He took an unusually long time. When I took my disabled daughter to the bathroom someone cleaned the table and threw out everything including things we bought with us and unfinished food. The wonderful hostess tried to make everything right. They had thrown out my cappuccino so I asked our server for one and he brought me what appeared to be black coffee. He swore it was cappuccino because he used the machine but put no milk in it. He overcharged me by switching the deserts to go around and charged me full cappuccino price for the Americana or black coffee or whatever it was but the wonderful hostess came to the rescue with some milk for my black coffee. . Our warm food and cold salads were all room temperature as if they had been sitting around for a while. I can't honestly judge the food because the experience was upsetting. The hostess and server need to switch jobs since she was sweet and attentive and he was slow and arrogant. read more

The food was good as always, but the service was so hideously poor, that the experience was ruined. Even after the proprietor got involved, things did not improve. If you ever go there and you notice your waitress has 'family is' tattooed the underside of her right forearm and 'everything' tattooed to the underside of her left forearm, run, don't walk to the nearest exit. Come back later and give it another try; however, I will never. One in my party overheard that they were understaffed that evening, but I did not hear anything, because perhaps the acoustics in that place when there is a crowd, forces you to yell across the table. Started out okay with getting the first round of beverages and then the rest of the dining experience was a train wreck. Sitting across from the doors to the kitchen, I started noticing food coming out, and the same plates of food going back. I noticed tables that were empty when we arrived, being served and we were still requesting bread... people that arrived after us were already leaving after eating and we couldn't even get a plate of bread. One in my party had been there before with me on numerous occasions and does not particularly care for the food, so she ordered a plate of ham and bread from the appetizer selection as her meal after she was informed they did not have anymore pancakes and something else she asked for... an hour after ordering, she was informed that they did not have the ham and bread. The proprietor came to the table and I pointed out that the table of eight that arrived after us had just received their check (obviously not the same waitress), and as taking a much needed timeout, food did arrive. The icing on the evening, was when a stone cold cup of coffee arrived while others were eating their desert. I informed others at the table, they did not believe me until they stuck their fingers in it and just shook their head. Then I informed the waitress, she rolled her eyes at me and said loud enough to hear 'now he says the coffee is cold'. What was returned to me as my cup of coffee by the proprietor, was the burned bottom of a pot. I did something that I have never done before in my life, I did not leave a tip. One in the party that has waited tables for a living in the past, actually said that if there has ever been cause not to leave a tip, that this fiasco was it. There were no attempt of adjustments for our inconvenience... so no tip. The trip there was to show some family how good the German food there was, because they had shown me around Austria and Bavaria on numerous occasions, and I had bragged Prost up by saying that they were the only place I had found in the States that could get Jagerschnitzel to taste right. I called the proprietor after returning home and recounted the entire evening, and she was the one that answered the phone at 9:45, said she would try to make it up to me the next time. This place was a joke. Let me list the ways this place is a terrible, in my opinion. - Loud, like ridiculously loud. Lets scream to our companions shall we? - We didn't get WATERS for 15 minutes after we were seated. And when our waitress did grace us with our presence she was a nasty somebody. Complaining that she had too many tables. Well hello dear, it is a Saturday night..in a small town..it happens. - When I inquired about the cheese sauce that accompanied the pretzels, I was given this scowl and told "well it costs like 5 bucks for a side of it". I said 5 bucks? For cheese sauce? Did God himself make it? Obviously, we declined. (We had no issues paying out money for a good meal, but being from the chef world that is just insane and insulting.) - We shared the sausage platter. That stated it was meant for sharing. We get the bill, we got charged 2.50 for sharing! Um...wait a minute...you told us to share but ok, we get it. - Our waitress, have I mentioned she was a lovely bitter woman who kept slamming things and mentioned to every other server that she has full tables, etc? Yeah, she was just a peach. - The Restaurant is located on the outskirts of a very small town. I mean, two stop light small town. So to charge 19 dollars for cold potato salad, sauerkraut, and a fried thin cut pork chop, seems a bit much. We were told to stay away from this place due to the price but we were celebrating. We won't be forgetting that celebration anytime soon. We paid our bill and left a substantial tip. We feel word of mouth, even if just one person values our experience, is enough for us. read more
