I did NOT know I was signing another 36 month contract I thought I was signing to agree to the lower rate. I need to cancel after all and now you want me to pay you 1K+ to cancel. I have been a customer for 9 years and and super disappointed in how I am being treated at this point. If I had the 1K I wouldn't be canceling in the 1st place. I mean that is a no brainer. We signed on for a contract when the business was under different ownership, but it's been a nightmare ever since they sold. Now, nonstop issues with camera/notification malfunctions, overbilling, frequently unreachable customer service, etc. When we moved a few months back, they were so understaffed that we were without service for a full month before they could have a tech come out and reinstall at the new address, during which time we still had to pay for service. Techs damaged our drywall and stained our paint in our new home, and we have been reaching out to customer service for at least 10 weeks with NO RESPONSE. Finally, early this week, we left a message with staff for their boss providing a deadline of today before we pursue legal action for compensation of our damages, and still no response. After being left with no other choice due to a complete lack of response, we're getting an estimate of the damages and filing a small claim. Will update the review as needed as we head towards a hopeful resolution. If the company reads this and cares to finally respond, know we would be happy to take down the review and drop the suit if you formally relieve us of our contract with you. read more

Protec customer for 4+ years. Do not do business with these guys. My panel needed an upgrade from 3G and they are using predatory practices trying to soak customers for hundreds of dollars for the upgrade. Additionally, contracts roll over for ONE YEAR at a time if you do not give 30 days notice. So now I'm stuck mid-year with a system that will not work in 2 months and there's nothing they say they can do to help me. Options are pay hundreds of dollars or sign a brand new FIVE YEAR contract. Customer service abysmal. For a company that lives on providing local customer service, these practices are appalling and they won't be in business for long. Stay away. read more

I was a customer of ProTec Security close to 7 years and was for the most part happy with their services. Recently, we had moved out of state and had asked if we can continue with their services out of state or would I need to pay the fee to terminate the contract. They stated we would be able to continue service and to give them a call when we arrived at our destination to schedule a tech to come out and install the security system. After a week of arrival, I called multiple times with no answer and no return call. Finally, after a week and a half I was able to get a hold of someone from Protec and was able to schedule an appointment for a tech install. As we reached the scheduled date, the tech was a no show without any communication. I had called Protect to let them know and again, no answers and no return calls and received a charged for a service I was not receiving at the time. Magically one day, I was able to get a hold of someone who stated they spoke to the owner and said they would like to have another opportunity to make things right. I agreed and scheduled another appointment to have another tech installation. Again, no show. In the end, I had asked for a refund for that one-month charge for a service they were not providing as well as a written statement to let me out of the contractual agreement. After a couple of days had gone by, I called again to follow up on for the statement for break of contract. No answer but a text back saying, 'I will give you a call back'. Few mins later I received an email with a written statement stating they will let me out of my contract. Til this day no refund. I gave Protec multiple opportunities to make things right and just ended up with a very frustrated experience. I hope the folks at Protec use this as feedback to provide better customer service to current and future customer. read more

I'm really happy with these guys. I moved to Lacey this year and am a bit of a security nut, so the first order of business was getting a system installed. I've heard horror stories first hand about the large brands like ADT, so I was looking for a local outfit that would be professional but small enough to have good attention to detail. These guys hit the mark. I don't remember the name of the young man that came out at first but he was super nice and very clear explaining all the options with me. Installation was smooth as well. I had a hiccup a couple of months in due to a software update to the system, and Bubba came out once after hours to resolve the issue himself. Really nice guy, and incredibly knowledgable. I had another software issue right after that, and he made sure again to phone me after hours and walk me through the resolution very easily. I'd highly recommend them. read more

I have been a loyal customer and paid on time for 3 years because of a "non-negotiable" contract that is simply unethical to begin with. I have had other home security systems (ADT, RING, ECT) and none of these companies pressure you into paying for a crappy service for this long, and you can back out at anytime! I have tried cancelling my services for about 2 months now. No one knows who I can speak to, transferred around to more unknowledgeable people, managers/higher authority not in the office. Left multiple voicemails that I was told today (8/3/22) don't even work by a Jennifer in the University Place office, oh who is working from home, that to cancel your contract, you have to WRITE a letter in? It's 2022... oh and no indication of where that gets mailed to. Every one plays dumb and just refers back to "the contract" that I have zero access to or they will not provide, because I should have this from 3 years ago... Laughable. My equipment broke, stopped working over 2 years ago (one year into contract) Window and door magnets that detect "intrusion" fell off immediately. Unsafe. After many hours spent of my own time trying to communicate frustrations, that I am locked out of my account, no one offered to unlock my account, no once offered to look into cancelling my service (again I've been loyal for 3 years) To find out, they renew your contract without knowledge/heads up, you are responsible for remembering your contract from 3 years OR MORE ago. SLIMMY. Then you enter another new contract you cannot cancel, oh, unless you want to buy it out.......?!?!?! So, I have no access to my account, they won't unlock it for me, they do not contact you as a curtesy reminder of contract renewals, they don't even mail you anything. (they have your address) This is not a "safe" system to protect your family, they are a business run on "how can we continue to take our communities money and they can do nothing about it". They do not care about their customers, they care about their unethical contracts. I started with this company 5 years ago and initially I was pleased with their service. Bubba was a tech you could count on to take care of any issues that arose. The business changed ownership and everything about this company completely deteriorated from the complete absence of customer service, terrible product (entire time we had our doorbell cam if someone rang the doorbell we couldn't immediately access the camera), and deceptive business practices. 3 months before my contract ended they tried to tell me I needed a system upgrade for it to continue working. Interestingly enough after the manufactured deadline they gave me it worked fine until end of contract. The phone calls go straight to voicemail during business hours. Just give it a try! When I sent my letter that they required to end my service contract they charged me the following month after the end date. After several call attempts and eventual angry voicemails I finally received a call back and after "researching the issue" on their end they "found my letter." I would never recommend anyone use this company! The older positive reviews on here were before it was sold to the new ownership. I fully expect this company to fold. I switched providers and decided to go with ProTec after seeing that they use the same equipment under Alarm.com, which was what I already had installed in my home. There was some hiccups at first, but the owner, Keith, quickly resolved all of my issues and left me feeling like a valued customer. What I appreciated most of all was that he took the time to listen to my concerns and then followed through with what he said he'd do to resolve the issues, which exceeded my expectations. The co-owner, Buba, was also involved in this process and was the individual who had to come out to my house to resolve the issues. This was the first time I met with him as he was not the initial installer. He carried himself professionally and provided quality work. Buba showed patience when listening to my needs and resolving the situation. He also took his time to explain everything to me so that I could make an informed decision when choosing which options I wanted to go with and then he made sure I knew how to operate the system before he left. Keith came out when he said he would (the same day I called him, actually!) was polite, and took the time to explain everything, from how the sensors would work to where we might consider putting a camera. Probably very basic stuff for him, but things I (a complete novice) didn't even think of. It's obvious that Keith is good at what he does. One thing that drew me to Protec over the more national chains was that they're local; I really felt like Keith cared about my concerns and listened to me (someone attempted to break into our house, which is why we're having a security system installed, and it's made me anxious and basically intolerable about everything). It's also a huge bonus (to me, anyway!) that their customer service is local. A few weeks later, we visited with Devin to finalize a quote for a Home Security system. He was able to tailor a system to meet the needs of our family at a price that we felt was fair. We had a few minor issues with the installation process but they corrected everything in a very timely manner. Landon was our installer and he proved to be friendly, respectful, and helpful. We LOVE the product and the features available provide peace of mind along with a nice cool factor. I was able to promptly arrange for conversion of my current ADT system to Protec, and I converted from wired monitoring to wireless. The conversion was seamless. After having several Security companies come out and give us quotes we selected Protec. Keith was faster to respond, showed more ambition, and listened to our concerns better than the other companies. From start to finish everything went great, and was as promised.
