After nothing for 30 minutes past the time, I call and they said they would be there in 20 minutes. Shows up one hour past the scheduled time...it happens, I understand, but maybe you should at least apologize and give me a heads up? Apologizing after I call you out is not comforting. Very nice in person, Takes measurements and discusses. This was a Friday, so I understand we might not get the estimate soon. I'm told, if not this weekend, I'll get it to you by Monday eod. No worries, that's reasonable. Heck, it can be any day, just do what you promise. Monday nothing. Tuesday nothing. Call Wednesday. Says I'm really busy, No apology until I call them out on what they promised. I didn't set the expectation, they did. I tell them, if we don't even have a contract and you're being like this, what am I to expect? Next day, I get a text about the room to be done, is it upstairs or downstairs, and the bathroom, is it being done? I'm totally confused, we never spoke about a bathroom and the room is upstairs. I get the quote finally. It's ~$30k more than another quote I got from a 5 star Yelp business. WTH. Looking deeper into the quote, it's talking about terracota tile and grout...we never spoke about that, we spoke what I already have downstairs, which is laminate. They even stated, that's a manufactured piece we can't get anymore but we can get something close to match. Don't always believe Yelp reviews, but I'd believe this one.

It was a bit overwhelming when we first entered the showroom, but we received orientation as to the options and where to find each. Though we originally went in thinking of engineered hardwood, like we have upstairs, with the water considerations, especially in the kitchen, we are thinking of new generation laminate. It's easy to install, and has great waterproof functionality. It has texture and varied pattern, too. We're just about ready to finalize our measurements and place the order. Their prices are extremely competitive and many styles are in stock for immediate availability. Tony has been very helpful getting us up to speed on this big purchase.

Our experience with these guys was a bummer all around... Mo…read moreassured us they could closely match our existing wood floors, which is why we hired WFG for the quote provided (about 30% higher than our avg quote.) The floors are a completely different color than our existing older hardwood. I understand that the match was never going to be exact, but I am disappointed in how far off they are. If matching aged flooring was never possible, they should not have set our expectations otherwise. When I asked Mo if he thought the color was close, he said they were "maybe 10% different", which I believe was a dishonest answer. The floors are also extremely soft - just lightly pushing a finger nail into them leaves a dent. My guess is they bought cheap planks, made of young lumber that is not as strong as our original floors. The planks were not sanded well either, the surface has bumps that can be felt even with the finish complete.

But when we needed to change out an old bathroom vanity for a new one, we knew we had to get serious about it. And if you hire a plumber to do the work, which DOES involve some plumbing, then it costs way more. I resigned myself to the search and literally just contacted the most popular handyman service in my town based on Yelp reviews. Guess what? thank goodness I did! 805's Handyman (NOT to be confused with "805 Handyman") responded right away--even though it was a Sunday and the World Cup games were on. I uploaded pics, sent in the details, got an estimate, and made an appointment. On the day of, a nice truck drove up with the logo painted proudly on the side (not a guy in a fancy sports car, like handyman #9). Two sturdy guys came in and got down to business right away--no fuss, all smiles, and dare I say it? Like they loved what they do. (Unlike handyman #7 who was a former engineer and complained the whole time, even refusing to do some tasks!) Long story shorter, the bathroom vanity switcheroo turned out to be bigger and messier project than expected. It ended up involving some retiling, grouting, electrical adjustments, alterations to trim, painting--and the plumbing bits and installation and removal. The workers were quiet, helpful, communicated the whole time and were just generally old-school excellent (unlike handyman #4, who was nice, but got everything crooked and a bit wonky, bless his heart). The 805's Handyman workers did ALL the plumbing/installing/electrical/tile work/painting--the whole shebang. And the end result is a sweet transformation for our upstairs bath (I also asked them to take care of a few more items on my to-do list, which they did quickly and again, with smiles). The whole thing was very gratifying. So much so, that the next time something in our house needs fixing, I will actually look forward to hiring 805's Handyman again. We're lucky to have them in the Ventura area and they are popular on Yelp for very good reasons.

I communicated with them through yelp and then we took to contact by phone/text. They were super communicative and prompt on setting up a date for repairs. They worked around my schedule which was appreciated and followed through without issue. I had them work on an outdoor electrical/lighting fixtures and Patrick did it with ease. He came with all his supplies and was prepared, he swapped out my old, ugly lighting fixtures and put in the new ones no issue. He was careful but prompt with getting this task complete. Very nice guy and someone you could trust and who did a honest thorough job. Aside from doing great work and being professional, the price point was also very reasonable compared to ten other quotes I got (yes, I do my research). They are affordable, professional and most importantly they did a great job. Even my neighbors watching from the outside were impressed and came over to take some business cards. I know I'll be locking them in for some more appointments and repairs in the near future. Great work and happy to have a trustworthy handyman in the area.

Alfredo and his guys were friendly, prompt and professional. They even worked with me to do a portion of the drywalling the next day so that I could get the plumber to install the water heater before coming back to do the rest. They later came back as promised and finished the drywall and texturing. Everything looks great and they left the house clean. I highly recommend them for skilled work and fair pricing.

I requested a quote from Protective Advanced Coatings for the interior painting we needed done, after the purchase of our first home. Robert came in to do the painting estimate and saw we had a considerable amount of work that needed to be completed prior to us being able to move in. He boasted, "We can build you a house if you want." My mistake, I did not check on his license, a mistake that cost my family thousands of dollars. HE IS NOT THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR HE CLAIMS TO BE!! We paid Robert almosr $20,000 to paint the entire interior, rovove a couple walls, install flooring, perform some electrical, and do a complete bathroom remodel. That was the begining to our nightmare. As, work progressed, there were small painting and flooring imperfections I wanted corrected which Robert took very defensivly. The LVP flooring they installed had spots that weren't sitting flush or were damaged with hammer imprints. Robert said all fooring installations have a"Sweet Spot" as he called it. where it all comes together, and there will be imperfections. Well my "Sweet Spot" was smack dab in the middle of my den!! Not so sweet, right? We even got into a heated argument, at one point where the business owner stood in my house as he yelled and cussed at me. We had some issues arrise with the bathroom remodel as well. But, the biggest issue was the hole we found in our never used, brand new $900 bathtub Protective Advanced Coatings installed, and tried to claim as both not causing and unnoticed. Neither of which we believe. We tried and tried for almost 4 months to get not only collect some sort of repayment but a response at all from this company. Krista, Robert's assistant, was more professional and responsive that the bisiness owner himself. But, even she fell short in making it right. They were quick to respond to the Yelp request for an estimate, quick to collect a deposit, quick to collect final payment. But once a complaint arose they took 4 months to SEMI make it right. This is one of those dishonest contractors. Sad thing is, He is not even a licensed contractor as he claims. Pictures to come. BUYER BEWARE!! read more

I strongly advise against hiring Anthony/Villa Painting based on my experience with both the…read morequality of the workmanship and the professionalism throughout the process. Anthony completed two relatively small painting projects for me, totaling nearly $5,600. Unfortunately, less than two months after the work was completed, the paint began peeling. Anthony initially attributed the issue to Sherwin-Williams paint and asked me to contact them directly. I did so, and Sherwin-Williams sent a representative to my home to inspect the problem, take paint samples, and conduct testing. The representative attributed the peeling to improper surface preparation rather than a problem with the paint itself. Anthony later claimed that the peeling was caused by moisture. However, the wall had been painted for approximately five years without any peeling or moisture-related issues. I hired Anthony specifically to repaint it and change the color to black with a satin finish, and there had been no prior problems with the wall. The peeling is also not limited to that wall. The fascia board and a small deck that Anthony painted are peeling as well. Having multiple surfaces painted by him develop peeling issues raises serious concerns about the quality of the workmanship and surface preparation. Despite everything, I made a genuine effort to resolve the matter privately and reasonably. I contacted Anthony and asked him to reimburse me just $1,000, despite having paid nearly $5,600 for the work. I was willing to accept this as a compromise rather than request a full refund. He completely ignored my message and made no meaningful effort to resolve the issue. I spent more than six months trying to resolve this directly and gave him multiple opportunities to address the problem before deciding to share my experience publicly or consider filing a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. I am extremely disappointed with both the quality and durability of the work and the way the situation was handled afterward. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Anthony or Villa Painting. Anyone considering hiring them should carefully consider the quality and how potential problems will be handled after the work is completed.
