I'm definitely a fan! Came here after a great workout with my friend to kick start my day right. I ordered the santa fe scramble and this was the perfect portion and amazing burst of flavor. I love eggs and the kick of salsa and fresh spinach was just the right touch. I was filled to the perfect about and stayed full for hours. Protein Bar is my go-to place for lunch in the Loop. I typically order only 3 items off the menu: the black bean bowl, the original bar-rito, and the Newport Salad. I agree with others that most of these items can be made at home. Yet, Protein Bar is convenient especially for people with food allergies such as myself. I'm from out of town but was in the area for work. It was my first time here and I wanted to like this place more, but for the value it fell very short. I originally went here looking for one of their oatmeal bowls, but I went in around lunch time and they stop serving it after breakfast. They should indicate this somewhere on their site because that was a letdown! I was still hungry so I opted for the sweet potato falafel bowl ($10). Portions were okay and it tasted fine, but I've had better. Also proportionally, there wasn't enough quinoa/greens compared to all the pickled onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The biggest kicker though are their lattes. I asked the server which ones are good and he suggested the honey oat latte. $5.79! I figured oh this better taste amazing. Alas, it was probably the worst I've ever had. I didn't know that it was a special concoction with ghee and some sort of other oil so I found the taste extremely appalling (again no signage to indicate this). read more

I had the quinoa bowl with spinach and chicken. Tasted like great healthy food. I'm not sure how healthy it actually is, but hey it has quinoa, so it must be good for you. Love Protein Bar and the swell folks who work there. I can sum up the five star rating in three words - coconut curry soup. Never mind the cold meds. If you have a stuffy head this soup will knock the crap out of your sinuses. The soup is very well flavored with curry and I'm guessing ginger. It's hearty and delicious with a multitude of health benefits. I also love their vegan baritos. They're flavorful and pack a good protein punch. Healthy yum! read more

Get your quinoa fix here! I love all the variety from the salads, shakes, juices and breakfast items. Some of my favorites include the Comiskey Cocoa Protein Shake, Wrigley Peeled Shake, Spinach & Pesto Bowl, Vegan Quinuo Chili Bowl, Memphis Salad and Superfood Vegan Salad. Their chili is delicious and filling, as well. I love their raw juices but recently purchased a juicer of my own to create similar concoctions. The customer service is fabulous!!! I ordered a Greek salad with chicken. When my salad arrived I had little to no chicken in the bowl. I barely made it out of my seat to the order counter when the manager stopped me, inspected my bowl and told me to have a seat. He immediately went to the kitchen and brought me back a new salad loaded with chicken. I was impressed. This place is a fitness freak's dream come true. My red line protein shake (strawberry, banana, milk + whey protein) tasted absolutely delicious. Quite intriguingly, they offered me a choice of soy, whey, or egg protein (naively, I didn't know egg protein even existed). Best of all, macro counts for every single item are posted everywhere. If you're counting calories/macros and looking for good food that you don't have to cook for yourself then this is the place to be. read more

Great, healthy food that is fast! We stumbled on this place while wandering in the Loop looking for a late lunch, I had the Vegan Original wrap which has a great combination of tofu and quinoa that tasted very good. I also had the acai'd smoothie which was very good. The place is clean and our service experience was very nice, the staff was courteous and helpful. I was impressed that my kids also liked the food! Love this place! We stayed in the connecting hotel for a conference and I was so pleased that we had the Protein Bar as a savior every morning for breakfast and even lunch a few times! The food here is exactly that....real food! I tried about 5 different things on the menu and they are all great. I love how accommodating they are, allowing you to pick your proteins and make a really nice custom meal. This location got very busy around lunch, so come early for breakfast, or be ready to wait in line around lunch. Delish! read more

Protein Bar is that rare combination of healthy, delicious and cheap. I should love this place--it has Sriracha sauce for God's sake!--but I only have a deep and abiding "like" for it. I can't explain why. The food is top-notch. I get their BBQ Bar-rito, extra sauce, and it is heavenly. The workers are friendly. I don't think they're faking it (I'm sure they don't get paid enough to do that). I think PB just hires cool, nice folks. The food is cheap, especially if you are a regular and are assiduous in collecting punches on the card they give you. if you're on a DIET and looking for a place to DINE OUT- this is the PERFECT PLACE to check out. if that didn't catch your attention, i don't know what will. :) I had the "guac n roll" burrito with a hi 5 drink. after the first bite, you can instantly tell that the ingredients are fresh. i was full halfway into the burrito but kept on eating. i love that i didn't experience the typical food coma after stuffing my face. the location is very convenient for people who are up and about around the loop. i highly suggest taking pub trans bc there is only garage parking nearby. the total for my lunch was ~$15 which isn't so bad considering how healthy the food is at protein bar! i will definitely be back for more. :) read more

I don't get why people like this place. I've been here a number of times and each time the food has gotten progressively worse. The burritos are bland and flavorless. The protein shakes are even worse...almost undrinkable. I hate wasting food but it was so bad I had to throw mine away after drinking less than half. Protein Bar is advertised as a healthy, feel-good fast food chain, but it's mostly just an expensive, healthy, feel-good fast food chain. The food is probably better for you than, say, McDonalds, but for the most part, fast food is fast food. Nothing here tastes bad per se, but it's also not amazing. I love Protein Bar...ever since it opened in Chicago a few years ago. This is a great place to eat healthy delicious food. I even lost some weight eating here over the summer. However, I always seem to get the same few items...which can be a little taxing. This time I went for the spinach burrito and the bbq bowl...both good. I have also tried some of their seasonal options which I have not been a big fan of yet. Overall, good place if you want something quick, easy, and healthy. This location seemed to be clean and the staff was more professional then my previous experiences...so the management does listen to feedback. I am upset that they don't have some of my favorites anymore, but look forward to seeing the newer items they plan to serve in the future. read more

Spinach pesto bowl! That's my favorite among their quinoa bowls. All of their quinoa bowls are excellent, but the spinach pesto is my go to. I sometimes add avocado. Try it sometimes. Anyway, there are plenty of protein bars in the city now, and it's a great option for a quick, healthy lunch. I highly recommend it if you are trying to stay on the healthy path and if you still like pleasing your taste buds. read more

I'm writing this update because I'm a little concerned about freshness of the produce. The greens in the salads have been a little less than crisp fairly often. Really unfortunate, I wanted to love this! I'm still so hungry after eating the 10.50$ protein bowl. It was the sweet and spicy bowl, I barely had any pork and it was SO SPICY! I told the worker I like a little spice, this burned my mouth. If you're really hungry go somewhere else, this place is not worth the money :( read more
