    Fried Chicken & Waffles

3.5 stars is my rating, rounded up because of Fernanda's service. Came here on a Friday morning - we biked from Oak St Beach. The location was super convenient from the lake and had a nice amount of seating when we arrived. I had the chicken n waffles. This was really good, and the sriracha honey it came with really set it off. The chicken ate a little dry though but the portion size really got me full. I had the salad on the side. This was literally just spring mix with a cup of balsamic. It was sad looking and I didn't eat it. My sister had the three eggs and meat. She wished she could have paid an up charge for pancakes or French toast on the side but couldn't. She aid her meal was basic, and I guess it inherently was and all it could be. So to side it up, she ordered the monkey bread. This was a little dry but good in the center. I had the chai latte. It came out lukewarm first. Fernanda was nice enough to bring me a new one that was hot. It wasn't good, though. I had to add sugar to make it taste like anything but the chai spices. I wouldn't recommend it.

The interior is bright and cute with a lot of seating. The dirty chai was delicious, perfect balance of concentrate, coffee, and milk. The wait was a little long but the staff is extremely friendly. They don't really allow substitutions for their dishes (like swapping bread types or how the egg is cooked). The crab cake benedict was yummy but the potatoes could've been crispier. The waffles were very crisp and I liked the seasoning on the chicken, just wish there was more chicken. Fruit is just ok, not very fresh

Stopped in on a Saturday around 9:45-10AM and were seated right away. This is a cozy breakfast place with your basic breakfast staples. My friend and I ordered the pancakes and French toast, which were very fluffy and more on the sweet side. The espresso martini was great- not too strong and very frothy. 8/10

This was a BYO Skillet I came up with: chorizo, bacon, home fries, bell peppers, onion, jalapeños, cheddar, and queso fresco with eggs.

Great and cozy breakfast/brunch spot with multiple locations in different downtown Chicago neighborhoods. This place reminds need a lot of the popular "Buttermilk" or "Alexander's Cafe" in the burbs, Staff is friendly, the decode is cute and bright. And the food, juice and coffee are all fantastic far as I can tell. I would definitely come back to try their b other menu items. My only gripe with my first time visit, were with my biscuits and gravy order, the gravy was great and just the right consistency, however, the biscuits were a bit too doughy/mushy for my taste, but hey, now I know. And you might enjoy them more than I did. Overall, I'd give this place a 4.5/5 if I could, but since Yelp only believes in whole numbers for reviews... 4/5.

Was in the city for my friends birthday and after going to another brunch spot in which we didn't want to wait an hour for we ended up here! There were six of us and we were seated quickly. It wasn't super busy and we went on a Friday morning/afternoon. We ordered drinks, 2 got matchas, 2 got iced lattes, and 2 got strawberry lemonades. For food here is what we ordered: Fried Egg Sandwich with a side of herb-roasted potatoes, Chorizo & Eggs with a side of herb-roasted potatoes, two orders of Three Eggs with a side of herb-roasted potatoes, Three eggs (upgraded to egg whites) with a side of herb-roasted potatoes, Banana Nut Pancakes. I got the Three eggs and the Banana Nut pancakes so here are my thoughts: I wish they had an option to combine the two or to upgrade for 1 specialty sweet. The food was plentiful and yummy. In the menu they don't mention the addition of chives as a topping on the egg, I don't like chives thus I had to pick them all off my food prior to eating. Everything else was yummy. Our server was okay and it was food runners taking our food out to us so there was so confusion there. Once it came time to pay our server had trouble splitting everything and he had to re-do mine and a friends bill, and he still didn't get it right, I ended up getting charged for some of her items. I only see me coming back if my group of friends wanted to, but not alone.

So many disappointments stacked on top of each other results in a place I cannot recommend in good faith. We were a party of 5 and first, there was a wait for a table when there were multiple visibly open tables that could've easily been pushed together. Our waitress was pleasant enough but once we started ordering, she was very limited in what substitutions she could accommodate even though we were asking for changes that were offered elsewhere on the menu (ex. subbing a different meat because don't eat pork or scrambling eggs instead of fried or swapping a bagel for brioche bun) so some of us ended up ordering things that weren't actually what we wanted/had hoped for. The food itself was fine (looks better than it tastes), but nothing super tasty or special, especially for the hefty price tags for breakfast foods. Then, at checkout, I noticed that I was charged $2 for my side of salsa verde even though that was not mentioned when I asked for it (the charge for avocado was mentioned to my friend). Chicago has a lot of delicious brunch options, so why settle for mediocre?

We stopped by Kanela Breakfast Club on a Sunday morning around 9am before going to the Children's Museum at Navy Pier. We were seated right away in a nice back booth. The person who sat us and took our order was helpful and welcoming. We order coffee, which came out quickly, but it was pretty average. The kids menu items were around $7 or $8. The orange juice listed on the kids menu was over $6! The kids ordered the kid's griddle and kid's pancakes. The kid's griddle didn't come with whipped cream for the pancake nor with any fruit. In the kid's pancakes, there were two pancakes included and had a better presentation with whipped cream and fruit. We ordered the crab cake Benedict and the spicy feta omelet. The crab cake Benedict's poached eggs were not runny, and the crab cake really wasn't anything to write home about. The sauce was a bit spicy but there wasn't enough included for my liking. The spicy feta omelet was nothing special according to my husband. The restroom does have a changing tables, which was nice. All in all, it was a convenient location, but it's very overpriced for what it was.

Had breakfast here during our weekend stay. It was a short walk from the hotel by the river walk, didn't have to wait long for a table. We ordered chilaquiles, California Benedict and waffle with fruit and Nutella. The next day we had Crab Cake Benedict's and Avocado Toast. Everything was amazing except the chilaquiles, there weren't our favorite. We sat inside one day and outside the next and it was beautiful. It's a 100% recommended

Mid-Monday morning before we catch our flight... so glad we made the short walk to this spot. We were greeted immediately by a very nice young lady who was also our server. They have free wifi and an online menu you'll need to scan the code for. Great choices for adults and kids. The diner itself is open with lots of seating. On a nice day, there's plenty of outdoor space as well. We tried the churro waffle, lemon-blueberry pancakes, chicken & waffles, the salmon lox bagel, and thus little one got a full breakfast--pancake, bacon, & egg. EVERYTHING was truly delicious! Serving size was food for someone hungry! The chicken wasn't too salty and was seasoned nicely! The waffles were a super airy texture that melted in your mouth!

Honestly, everything was lacking. The service was below sub-par, the food was ok, the drinks were mid. I couldn't even enjoy our drink carafe bc it wasn't mixed properly. 3/5 would not recommend.

Pretty wonderful first time - I am told they moved from another location. The omelette I was utterly, melting flavor with every bite of sautéed onions, feta and egg and spices. The place was packed (good thing) and yet staff friendly, accommodating and efficient. Very clean and can't wait for the expandable patio to open! * photo isn't great - already 1/2 eaten

    Kanela Roll

Stopped in at Kanela Breakfast Club and was pleasantly surprised with a quiet and peaceful ambiance, as well as amazing service from Nicolas, and DELICIOUS food. We had the Kanela Roll which was soft, sweet, and perfectly cinnamoney with every bite. The Chicken and Waffles was absolutely to die for, the honey sriracha was the perfect compliment to the crispy chicken. My husband had the chilaquiles and the red velvet french toast. I must say the chilaquiles were CHEF's KISS perfect. and the red velvet french toast had just the right amount of decadence. We finished everything off with a mocha and a hazlenut latte and they were the perfect end to our meal. If we ever find ourselves in Chicago again, this will be a must stop for us.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot.
