Without a doubt one of the most unwelcoming experiences I've ever had, and that was a big disappointment after seeing others with their food and being so intrigued. When I walked in to pick up my food, there were no customers (imagine that!) and several employees (including the BM, I believe) were behind the counter talking to each other - they looked up, saw me, a few disappeared, and the others continued their conversation. When I finally had to ask "is there someone who can help me, please?" the collective attitude was apparent, and I was given my bag with no communication. The bison burger was okay, but definitely not worth me making a special trip to drive all the way out there, and I was hungry about an hour later, so I don't know how much sawdust they added to the patty. Food here is quite healthy, protein-centric (as to be expected), and solid in flavor. We visit family in the southeast valley annually, and when we do, PH is always worth a trip. I'm quite partial to the Plant Protein Bowl -- a really nice mix of tofu, veggies, quinoa, and beans. It can be difficult to find tofu on menus of non-entirely vegan and non-Asian restaurants, so that's really appreciated. My wife likes the all day breakfast options, like the protein pancakes. In that respect, it reminds me of a healthy Denny's (which is not a slam!). I like the unsweetened iced tea options, generally a black tea and some type of caffeine-free herbal tea. Service is good. Everyone's very friendly, and we've never had to wait long for food. I'm guessing that this place was started by the owners of the gym next door -- anytime we come here, there are always a few bodybuilders in their muscle shirts, something I can't say I've seen at any other restaurant. I honestly really want to give this place 5 stars, based on the food. I'm a huge fan of the food. Everything else, in regards to how they run their business, is terrible. I've had several instances, where I go in after the gym and order to-go. After waiting 30+ minutes, I see my food sitting on the counter and have to go ask if it is mine. I try calling ahead and their phones are always down. My orders have been messed up multiple times. Most recently, my final straw - I placed an Uber eats pickup order there because nobody answered the phone. When I got there 30 minutes later, they claimed they never received the order or made it. Uber disputes this and will not refund my $60. I'm now out $60 because of this. Unbelievable. On top of that, nobody cares. read more

What a great alternative to fast food. We really enjoyed trying out ProteinHouse on a recent trip. Menu options are nutritious and all natural, so you can't go wrong. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla; loved the whole wheat tortilla. It was loaded with grilled chicken, melted low-fat mozzarella, cilantro and black bean salsa. Hubby ordered the Southwest Bowl. The portion of beef was generous and served with tomatoes, red peppers, low-fat cheddar cheese, onions, avocado and black bean salsa. His bowl was empty, so I think he liked it. I was so excited to see that there was a healthy place next door to EOS Fitness. I was in town visiting my fiancé's family and I just started using their gym-EOS Fitness. After a long workout, I had built up quite the appetite and was excited to finally try ProteinHouse next door. I arrived around noon on New Years Eve. The place was pretty quiet, it actually looked closed from the outside. I was impressed by all of the healthy options and since I was so hungry I needed to just choose something so I went with a personal favorite-the Açaí bowl. I got the coconut crunch bowl with almond butter and vegan protein. It had delicious granola and cacao nibs as well. I ordered it to-go and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. I also got a gluten free cookie right by the cashier. The place itself is small but has a lot of seating. There are TVs but otherwise it lacks in any kind of charming ambience. I would recommend getting it to-go. There is plenty of parking in the front lot and the prices are reasonable considering the quality and healthy ingredients used. The one negative thing that really weighed heavily on this review was how unwelcoming and somewhat rude the cashier was. I walked in with a smile, asked her how she was, and nothing-blank stare. She helped me choose my ingredients which was nice but otherwise seemed annoyed I was there ordering something. I tried asking about a few items but I got the clue after she dismissed a few comments. I've been to this location twice and finally feel comfortable writing this review. The first time we came in for shakes/smoothies, kind of a treat and to try it out. I try to keep my sweet tooth at bay so I typically limit shakes/smoothies, even healthy ones, because they make me crave the unhealthy stuff..lol. I had the Green Monster because it fit by macros for the day, and it was pretty good. I can't remember what my kids and wife had but they enjoyed theirs as well. I do remember it being a little pricey but most 'fitness shakes' are so no big deal. You're paying someone to make something you could have made yourself - you're going to pay a premium. BTW this visit was several months ago, hence the limited details. Stopped here again this week, this time for dinner, and wasn't as impressed. Because we try to eat clean/healthy we tend to meal prep and eat/grill at home A LOT, and then frequent the same restaurants that we have found serve things that fit our diet. This is great but it does leave you missing variety, this is what brought us to PH house for dinner. At first glance, these guys are great at marketing. The pictures and descriptions are great, and I really appreciating them having the nutritional information readily available - even with the different bun/wrap options - kudos on that. Grass-fed bison is obviously a healthy option. "Certified Angus Beef Steak", "Hormone Free" & "Sustainable" don't do anything for me as they are simply marketing terms (Google it.). I ended up going with the Muscle Builder, my 2 sons had the kids cheese burgers, and wife had The Sexy. I got the collard wrap on my burger, which was messy but an appreciated option for sure. I had mixed greens for the side and kids had fruit. My burger was acceptable, I wouldn't call it "good". My kids ate theirs and didn't complain, wife did enjoy her bowl and I thought it looked good as well. My burger - it was cooked to the temp I requested, no problem, and the collard wrap was a great option, glad I opted for that. The problem is the patty(ies). They are pre-formed and tough, I suspect cooked from frozen, and possibly at much too high of a temp. I do know that bison meat can be a little tougher than beef due to how lean it is but these are almost artificial tasting/feeling - think a McDonald's patty but bout 2-3 times bigger and chewier. I've grilled grass-fed bison patties at home, they were pre-formed but never frozen, and though not nearly as tasty as beef, came out much better than these. I know this sounds picky but when you pay $17 for a burger you have a certain expectation. The kids had the same patty, a single obviously, and were $9 each. I also realize that these are healthier meat options so it is more about quality that taste, at least that's the idea. Overall, I spent a little over $60 for 4 people to eat (my wife and I shared our fountain drink so 3 drinks total) and the food was meh. I have no doubt it was healthy, just didn't taste good and felt cheap, especially the store bought patties. This place has the marketing of a $60 meal, but the quality/feel/taste of a $30-$40 meal. I definitely would not return for a meal for the reasons I mentioned alone. I would consider a shake if I was in the mood. Sorry so long, just wanted to be thorough. read more

Wanted so much to like this place. Great concept, horrific execution. 6 people working for the lunch rush, which should be fine, but poor layout and lack of adequate food prep had orders running 30-45 minutes and then turning away patrons because they were "not taking food orders right now because online orders have us backed up". Ordered a chopped salad and a Mediterranean wrap. Took 40 minutes. While I appreciate the thought of freshly cut veggies, if you can't execute, prep your food. All of this should have been pre-cut and prepped with the exception of the steak in the salad which needed to be cooked on the grill (should have taken minutes). Workers were obviously nit cross trained as 3 workers not doing anything to help while the three in the cooking area were working too hard. They could have been chopping, etc. Layout of printer (for orders) also had workers crossing the width of the restaurant over and over just to get/make/deliver an order. Minimize steps with your layout. Work smarter and not harder. Invest in a system for online orders that you can turn off when necessary. The customer in front of you is the most important customer. As we finally got our food and a couple of other customers were getting feisty, overheard one of the cooks (seemed to be the manager) say "I don't even care if they say anything". I was once impressed at how friendly and attentive the staff was when it first opened but now it's like a haunted ghost town. I had to ask again just for a refund because I didn't want it due to the lack of care on how it was being made(resulting in bad taste) and the manager was upset that I even asked.
