Stay away. It's poorly managed, the steak is nothing to talk about. Reservations and no shows leads to a terrible experience. Was told by staff there is an hour wait, yet half the tables are reserved for an hour later. Wait an hour and all the tables that were reserved were no shows... No one greeted us or seated us when entering. We were told that kids were not allowed in the dining room and if we wanted to stay to go sit out back. Once we made our way out back we chose a table that was apparently reserved. 4 other parties that came in behind us also tried sitting at the same table. Our waitress was brand new and couldn't work the device in her hand for ordering. Another waitress came after we ordered to double check what we ordered. Thank goodness she came to check our order because I can guarantee my 5 year old didn't order a bison burger. Table was sticky and service took forever. Very disappointed in the service there, we ordered steaks and appetizers. The appetizers came out right before the entrees. The steaks were cold and when confronting the waiter, he blew us off and then our waitress. She said sorry and went on about her business, didn't offer to do anything about it. We decided to dine at this place last night. Hostess was nice. Blake was our server. She seemed nice as well, maybe new. We ordered prime rib with baked potato and dinner salad. Most of the beer on tap was out and Chardonnay. Alcohol being low with rodeo going on, we understood. Dinner salad and dinner was served all together. Maybe cause they were rushing to close. We got there at 7 tho, trying to give them the benefit. Anyways, prime rib was cold. Sent back to get hot food. Dinner was brought back, with rare meat and medium well was requested. We asked for butter and sour cream twice for baked potatoes and never got any. I took one bite of the prime rib-grossed out by the red and the waitress never returned to address. When she came for payment, I said I said for medium well and we never got the horseradish, butter or sour cream. She said oh sorry about that. And showed me what we owed. Terrible service and prime rib! Try another place!!! If we walked in too late, should of asked us to leave. $70 bill for a terrible dinner experience! read more

Rudest hostess ever!! We were in town for one night and decided to eat here based on the menu and reviews. Upon arrival the hostess asked if we had a reservation and when we said no she said they weren't taking walk ins and just walked away. No apology, no offer to try to accommodate us. Very good! Nice restaurant to visit when you are in Cody. Service price and food was all very good. It's a nice location downtown. Call ahead for a reservation because it's very small and difficult to get a table but we were fortunate enough to be able to wait and got a place at the bar. Which was fine with us. read more

Service was very good. Food left a LOT to be desired. French onion soup was way too salty. It was inedible. My steak was overcooked and my friend had hers undercooked. She added blue cheese so it was hard to swap (I hate blue cheese). Rocky Mountain Oysters weren't cooked properly and we had to send them back to be dropped in the fryer again. I am hesitant to complain because it was not the servers fault. The chef needs to pay better attention and at the very least, try the soup to make sure it hasn't been over salted. read more

We stopped in at the Proud Cut Saloon for a late lunch while visiting Cody. We both ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with broccoli salad for me and steak fries for him. We both agreed that we have never had a better burger anywhere. Service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere is American West. I can truly say that half that burger would have been plenty, but I couldn't help myself and ate as much as I could. Pricing was reasonable. Since we plan to be in Cody for a month, we will definitely be back to try more of the menu items. read more

Great prime rib and filet. Large servings. Fried green tomato appetizer was not good. Topped with blue crab which actually smelled fishy. Continues to be a good place for a quality burger. Our only concern about our recent visit was that a couple of the burgers come out maybe at room temperature. I can only guess that maybe it was because we had a party of seven and those burgers sat until the whole table's orders were ready. next time we'll ask that the burgers come out as they are completed. read more

Meh. T-bone has flavor, but was thin and tough. The ribs didn't have much flavor and were tough as well - like they weren't slow cooked for long enough (probably needed to leave them on for a few more hours). No beer on tap. Staff were attentive, but not very friendly. Kept dropping off the check when we hadn't finished eating or ordering drinks. They know their locals and treat the locals well. read more

Best steak in town at a reasonable price. I also love the burgers. It's BUSY at peak times so reservations or to-go orders are highly recommended. Shaded back patio is nice in the summer. LOVE-- MUST EAT HERE! Absolutely delicious meal! We had the baseball cut sirloin and a bone in rib eye, both ordered medium rare and both were cooked to PERFECTION. The rocky mountain oysters were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and tender inside. I didn't think their food could get any better and then you get dessert -- pumpkin mousse pie and peanut butter pie, both of which were just incredible. The food's good server was helpful, but I feel management has a crappy attitude towards customers. Wife wanted to substitute fries for a few onion rings and was told by the server there would be a 7.95 charge for a full order. Granted it's a tourist town and in most cases locals are out to screw the tourists with outrageous prices, but it doesn't need to be that blatant. Two or three onions rings in lieu of all the fries would of been a reasonable substitute. WOW update mentioned to server that I wrote a review, so she'd tell management. She did, owner came out said she doesn't care about reviews. It's their right not to substitute sides , and I agreed, and that it was my right to write a review and let people know. We exchanged a few more words about gouging tourists and which point she became very excited, snatched the food off of the table and out of my wife's hand and started yelling to get out. After reading the other reviews we were hoping that we had made a good choice for dinner in Cody. Waiting to be seated, two staff members walked past us with no acknowledgement that we were even standing there. Overall the food was ok, but pricey for what you get. Just so tired of going to restaurants and getting mediocre service and being expected to tip. Certainly does make one appreciate good customer service when you get it. Let's see what tomorrow night brings in Cody. Made the mistake of returning as part of our company wanted to try their steaks. As a local, I go to this place quite often. It is so hit and miss. The people are always friendly and the service has never been bad. The price you pay for the steaks and what you get is horrible. Cody has great places in town to get a steak, this place is not one of them. The last few time I have been there my steak has been cooked black or it was just dryer than a popcorn fart. ( I order my steaks medium rare). I love the Proudcut and environment, I wish they would fix this. However, they have a amazing burgers there. The jalapeno burger is my personal favorite on the menu. It is a cool place to go and relax with some friends and get some drinks as well. Very cool atmosphere. If you are looking for a steak, steer clear from here, Cassies or Rib and Chop are your best bet. But if youre looking for a great burger or sandwhich then I would defintely advise going here! The peanut butter pie is awesome as well. I give it 3 stars because of the steak debacle they have going on there but everything else is awesome! read more

Finally a good meal after seven days on the road. Steaks, ribs, burgers, tortilla soup and fish & chips all were great and CHEAP. Service was excellent. Dishes were prepared as requested. Bar drinks and beer were good. They have rocky mountain oysters. This is not a PETA place. Anything that can be shot is stuffed and hanging on the walls. Place was full of local rednecks. Street was full of pick-up trucks. Now that is what I call a strong recommendation. This is the place to eat in Cody. read more

One of the worst experiences in Wyoming. Okay,my husband's steak was good but how hard is it to grill a steak? The only people impressed with this place must not have had a steak outside of Sizzler's. Everything else was terrible. I ordered fish (I think there's a limit to how many days in a row you can have steak) and I asked for it rare hoping to get something in the middle. No luck. It was so overcooked and dry I felt like the 'got milk' commercial. The garlic fries had a tiny sprinkling of garlic powder -- tasteless. The corn on the cob over cooked and the salad was just a bunch of iceberg with a couple croutons and a half a carrot laying on the side. Even worse than the food was the service. We had reservations which they lost and then seated us at a table for someone else who was late for their reservation. Then we sat for 20 minutes. The hostess apologized several times and said they were so busy. I asked if that was unusual and she said no, so I asked why is it such a problem to get service if they are used to being busy. She said it's worth the wait because it's the best place in town. ha! When we finally ordered the waiter brought the appetizer with the salad. I said, "First we wait for 20 minutes then you rush us." He said "Oh well." Despite what the hostess thinks, there are plenty of better places in town. Go there. read more

Nice server, but she was a poor listener. I waited 10 minutes after asking for a refill on a glass of water. My baseball sirloin steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium well, then they simply cooked the same cut-up steak again. The steak was tough and chewy, but the baked potato and salad were good. My friends enjoyed the ribs and flat-iron steak, so those might be better choices. Waitress was nice and hard worker, so I hope the service will get better. read more

Oh man, I LOVE this place! I had to spend a couple of weeks in Cody and I ate at the Proud Cut more often than I care to mention. My doctor would NOT like to hear about my consecutive red meat consumption but the beef here is top notch. The cut I got caught up in was the rib eye. This is the best steak I have ever had. Tender, juicy and more flavor than I thought beef could have. Get it with the house-made potato chips and you have a plate of goodness! The Wife had the prawns one night. Now, I know what you are thinking. Prawns in Wyoming? Well, what she got were half a dozen prawns bigger than any I had ever seen before! They had a tender batter and were perfectly cooked. They had to weigh out at over 1/2 pound! Huge! Why not 5 stars? They don't have a wine selection for one. They have some horrible house stuff that I would never drink again. A steak this good deserves a good bottle of wine. Second, the salad. Blah. They do have a full bar so stick with that and a Moose Drool on tap and you are good. We ate here for dinner while passing through Cody on our cross country vacation. This place was packed with a 10 minute wait, so I'm thinking good sign. We both ordered the Rib-eye Steak dinner that came with salad or soup. I would have loved to have known their house made specialty "home-fries" were actually potato chips - not so yummy with steak dinner. The steak was really something you would get at the Texas Roadhouse. The kicker was the terrible service. I don't know the young dude's name but it was the first time in as long as I can remember that I didn't leave a tip that was 20% or more. He took forever just to get our drinks, never checked up on us. What really ticked me off was watching another table next to us be delivered what looked like a freshly backed basket of bread. I don't understand why people seem to judge small problems so severely. Took my family here while in Cody and everyone had steak except me. I had the prime Rib. Good wait staff. Brought apps quickly, kept drinks filled. Steaks were tender and flavorful. No one complained about taste or texture. Good thing for steak. My Prime Rib was so tender I could cut it with a fork. Also had broccoli salad that was great. Definitely a place I would eat at often if we lived here. Do yourself a favor and have a good steak tonight. read more

Really good food and great ambiance! I had the bacon Mac and cheese burger and my husband had the 16 oz. Ribeye. Both were fantastic and the meal was called off with delicious cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Highly recommend you stop by and check out the Proud Cut Saloon! read more
