As a poké lover, I'm disappointed. When I received my order, I had high hopes since the ingredients looked fresh. After eating a bit, I was put off by the fish. The salmon tasted like it was slightly cooked and the tuna had a really strange texture. Neither were good. As for the vegetables/fruit, I got edamame, sweet onions, cucumber, and mango. I didn't have any issues with them..even the mango which came as a surprise since it's definitely not mango season. It sucks though that you have a limit to 4 toppings. I would have added extra, but I didn't want the extra charge. The last problem I had was the amount of sauce. I wanted the ponzu sauce and the poké came with very little. After mixing it, the rice was still very dry. I see that other people had great experiences buying food here, so maybe it was just because I got delivery...not sure. Absolutely the WORST Spam musubi I ever had the misfortune to taste. The rice was watery and fell apart, the spam in the "fried spam musubi" I ordered was oven baked rather than pan fried in one of those toasting ovens such as they have in the Subway sandwich chain, resulting in spam that was lightly and unevenly toasted on one side and raw on the other. The taste of the nori was a lot stronger and more iodine-y that what I am used to and overpowered all the other flavors. read more

This place makes one of the best poke bowls I've ever had. Really great variety, clean and cool environment, and amazing quality ingredients. Only thing is about the toppings/mix ins--there's a limit to 4 and after that you're charged extra. Aloha! I ventured out to Proven Poke after the rainstorm had abated last evening, and on my second visit there all that was proven is that this place is mediocre at best. The shrimp tots that were advertised as a special were no more special than Tater Tots. The Number Nine Poke Bowl was more like a Number 5 on a scale of 1-10. Ordered pick up from this place last week. Got there early so I waited inside and watched them make the orders. There were two guys working. Both of them without masks. The guy making the order had no gloves on and just used his hands to roll the burritos and pick up the ingredients with his hands directly. And no, he did not wash his hands in between the orders. He was constantly touching his shirt while making the orders. That was very disappointing. read more

Freshest poke bowls around! I have only ordered delivery from Proven poke before, but it has always come super fast and amazingly fresh quality ingredients. I love creating my own bowl and live the variety of options without having to worry much about extra fees for toppings (some premium additions are extra cost, but the menu of free options is also extensive). My favorite order is a create your own with hot steak and spicy tuna as my proteins. I love that the portion size is great and you feel like you're getting your money's worth and are not hungry after eating. I absolutely love this place! It is my #1 poké spot in the area in terms of quality. The portions are fabulous and the marinated tuna tastes just like the quality of poké I ate in Hawaii. The only thing that stinks is the parking. When I'm driving an extra 20 minutes I really don't want to also be looking for parking on nearby streets/ walking a far distance in the cold to grab my bowl. Visiting our son at college automatically means a food outing. We were initially looking for a local sushi restaurant but could not find any that served COVID style outside. Proven Poke was a reasonable alternative. We were told to order our meal via the app. Once ordered we were brought out our food selections. I had the big catch poke bowl and my son had the tropic like it's hot wrap. Both items contained a heaping amount of ingredients that were fresh and flavored perfectly. The presentation of both items was on point. The young man who brought our selections out was pleasant and catered to our needs. A great place to eat and food was terrific. Me and my boyfriend wanted to try something new and saw the previous reviews for this place so we thought why not. I also am a huge poke fan, considering my family is from Hawaii and we go quite often and have tons of it all the time. Don't get me wrong, this place is good. I haven't really had poke on the mainland, but I can tell you it tastes different. The only thing I have to say is that they could work on the presentation of the food a little bit more, especially with the sushiritos. My daughter and I tried this place last night. My daughter ordered one of their posted bowls. The employee had no idea what was in the bowl and had to keep looking back at the menu board behind her. Several ingredients were not even available but still she wanted to charge extra for a crab topping. The other employee butted in to suggest maybe adding another sauce! Really?? More sauce?? This place has truly downgraded. Went from having a friendly and efficient staff every time I ate to now having uncommunicative staff that skimps and only wants money, with the corners they cut. Recently they have even changed they way packaging is. Went from bowls to a chipotle style "bowl" and have the audacity to charge $20 for it when they barely even put the sauce you requested. Proven was once an amazing place , when it first came to Montclair but clearly sees its customers as income instead actually being proud of serving you their "fresh food". This place is a pass for us now. I was extremely turned off that the employee who was handling my poke bowl checked and used his/her phone wearing the plastic gloves and then resumed making my bowl. I will also note that another employee was seen taking the garbage out wearing gloves and then switched to another pair of gloves to assist the next customer... I may be being picky but I would have thought that he/she would need to wash their hands prior to putting new gloves on. It's a standard of care in healthcare and I would think the same goes for handling food. Overall, after trying other poke places, this is no longer a go-to spot for me. read more

Overall, not bad poke especially since there are not many competitors in the area, but will say it felt a little pricey than other places I've been too. Aside from that, the workers were really nice and the girl that ring me up, informed me of a student discount (10% off) which was nice.
