Been looking for a good sushi place and got take out. Unfortunately, I found the raw fish to be lacking in flavor. There were different types of fish but barely any distinction in flavor. Among the best Pokebowls I've had in NJ. It also feels more genuinely healthy with fresh ingredients and a good serving of meat. It looks like it's a small family business with a mom, dad and son running things. The mom was very sweet and gave us tofu miso soup while we waited for our Pokebowls. Inside is nice an cozy and is good for dining in as well as take out. I'll definitely return to try their sushi and other options. Update- Poke bowls still hit the spot. After we arrive a few other people came and the owners greeted them like family! They knew everyone that walked in the door and asked how they were doing. So so friendly. Overall the menu is very simple. You have your straightforward sushi and some fancy rolls named after the surrounding towns. I thought that was a really nice idea. I stuck with some basics and we got edamame to start. I also ordered a green salad and was a little sad when I saw it arrive because it was tiny and the price on that bad boy was 3.95. It was worth it though, he even came over and told me "eat all the dressing, it's good for you". It sure was, it definitely was fresh ginger. It was great. Continuing on my quest for a go-to sushi restaurant, I did a Yelp search for sushi places along my route of errands. With most places closing for "lunch break" from 3 - 5 p.m., my search brought me closer to home and I ended up at Sake. When I walked in, I was warmly welcome by both the girl and the chef. They handed me and menu, and asked if it was for here or to go. I ordered the Fire Cracker Roll, Belleville Roll, Vegetable Roll and the Kanypo Roll. Yes, when I try out a new sushi place, I like to go all out and try at least three different varieties. I was told to have a seat and she brought every thing to me. The Belleville was absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. The perfect combination of all my favorite items - eel, avocado, crab & cucumber. I fell in love and ate three pieces before even trying any of the others. The vegetable roll was ok. But then you couldn't really expect a roll filled with rabbit food to be that interesting, now could you? The Fire Cracker Roll was my second favorite. Spicy salmon. Need I say more? It was just the perfect amount of spice to not burn the taste buds off my tongue. It will definitely be making it to my 'order again' list, along side the Belleville. The Kanypo was ok. Not a big fan of Japanese squash. I had to try it though. Now I can never say that I passed on it and wonder what it was like. Finishing my two favorites and almost the other two, I forced myself to move and pay the bill. While closing out my bill, we made small talk. I let them know how much I loved the food and would definitely be returning. The one downfall for some would be that they do not deliver. However, if you want "FRESH" sushi, you really should get off your bum and eat it if not right then & there at the restaurant, but at least pick it up. Freshness makes the sushi so much better. I definitely loved the friendly welcome & service I received here and will definitely return. They made me feel like I was a lifelong customer on my first visit. A way to my heart besides having amazing choices (which they do) and even more amazing food is fantastic customer service. They definitely met all my expectations and then some. Ordered over the phone and had a very pleasant experience even before I got my food. I ordered the sushi special deluxe off the dinner menu. My food was ready in 30 minutes and waiting for me when I got there. Seems like a nice place even though I did not eat in. Everyone was very nice. The selection in the combination platter was excellent a good mix of the basics as well as some special pieces. I am very much a fan of the fact that I could get it with spicy tuna rolls. I will definitely be back to order again. Online it says that you can BYOB when it reopens for indoor dining so I am looking forward to that as well! This is definitely my favorite place to eat! The service is so good because the owners like to be close with their customers! Today I tried to sushi shumai which was really delicious. You can tell it was fresh because it was hot the second I bit into it. I had my personal favorite roll- the dynamite roll. It has the perfect level of heat, but if it's too much, soy sauce will balance it out without masking the flavor. I also tried the spice salmon roll; I did not think I would like it because I'm not a huge fan of salmon or cucumbers in my sushi, however, it worked very well! For dessert, I tried the red bean mochi which was delicious because it was soft and easy to eat. Overall, Sake Sushi continues to please me with their authentic food, care, and service. We just finished our first dinner at Sake Sushi, and it was nothing short of fabulous. Fresh and expertly served by the delightful and professional proprietors, Soo and Mia. The Miso soup was among the best I've ever had, rich in flavor and not too salty- and my seaweed salad was perfectly dressed, followed by melt in my mouth sashimi. My husband loved his sushi platter- and we enjoyed our conversation at the sushi bar with our new friends (Soo and Mia) who clearly love what they do: making people happy by creating a friendly environment and preparing and serving delicious Japanese cuisine. We will surely be regulars of this very sweet, unpretentious, top drawer sushi restaurant. Bring your own Sake if you wish, but you may not even notice it's absence. read more

Spicy tuna roll was a bit overly spicy. Avocado tuna roll and seaweed salad were good though. Service wasn't great either. Dirty dishes were left on the table. My favorite sushi spot I've been going to since high school. The cleanest, most amazing sushi, and wonderful staff. Nobody I repeat nobody makes a sushi roll like these guys. The owners truly make you feel like family and were family to me! I've been going in since a kid (i mean at least 2x per week) into my adult life! I hate to report this but I went in after a long couple of years due to moving out of town and I found out they have closed and it is new owners right now (it still says sake and the same number). Sake sushi you will always be home to me and I will miss you terribly. Maybe when I get married if you can make me some spicy tuna rolls and have a "sushi cart" I can bring you back to the game!!! I am devastated and wish we could go back a few years!!!!! The new family was very nice and it was spotless same vibe as Sake. Definitely back to the basics with this place. Very ethnic and bringing back the simplicity of sushi. There was only one guy working on a Saturday night, who was also the sushi chef. He was doing it all. Although there was only 2 other customers in there at the time, he managed everything well for what he could do.
