Waterplace condos on the Riverwalk. My condo in Providence overlooks this beautiful basin and paved walk way.

I live right on the Providence Riverwalk and it's a nice place to stroll, walk, exercise or catch some kind of fun entertainment like concerts, Waterfire, gondola rides, the Providence Flea, etc. There are restaurants like Jacky's, The River Social, the Capital Grille, Cafe Nuovo, Hemenway's and many more. The park, which runs from the hurricane barrier up to Waterplace Basin is a 2.4-mile out-and-back trail along the Providence river in downtown. If you take the walk in a leisurely walk it will take an average of 42 min to complete. This is a very popular area for paddle sports, road biking, and running, so if you are into active life, this is a great place to come and exercise. The best times to visit this riverwalk area are April through November. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.

This is an amazing bit of nature and recreation, right in Providence. In the summer there's a…read moreWednesday farmer's market from 3-6, and there are frequent weekend concerts at the top of the hill. There are also a sledding hill, baseball diamonds and a skate park at the base. I come here for the hiking. For being only 10 minutes from downtown providence, it's very impressive. It's small, just shy of 90 acres, but the trail network is fantastic. The views of Providence from the top of the hill and the vista are great. There's a map at the entrance to the park, I usually just do one big loop when I visit. There's a trail map you can print out on the website as well. This is an urban park, so litter can be a problem. Please do your part and bring your trash out with you.

I felt my cortisol drop significantly just after a few steps on the trail. At one point, the Providence noise pollution almost disappeared & all I could hear was birds & bugs & wind. Unfortunately it's a seriously confusing smorgasbord of trails. I had to pull up AllTrails a few times, which is borderline embarrassing, considering how small of a park this is. I'm not sure I really followed any of the proper trails, just kinda zigzagged around. I would've felt more at ease if the trails were marked more clearly. Still highly recommend as a great green space. Enjoy!
