My name is Summer Boyd. Let me begin by saying this is not an easy review to write. I gave birth to my first child at this hospital on 04/10/2025, and while childbirth should be remembered as a meaningful and empowering experience, mine was deeply traumatizing. Months later, I still think about what happened--not with gratitude, but with distress. Prior to delivery, I agreed to allow students into my room for educational purposes during cervical checks, vitals, and routine care. What was not explained to me was that consenting to this meant every procedure would be performed twice--once by the instructor and again by the student. This included bloodwork, pelvic exams, and cervical checks. Repeated invasive exams do not enhance learning in a meaningful way, but they do increase discomfort, pain, and risk of infection. After my daughter was born, this pattern continued. Every two hours, routine postpartum checks were done twice so students could "learn." This meant uterine massages twice every two hours for me and full physical exams twice for my newborn. This level of repetition was unnecessary and avoidable. If hands-on learning is required, instructors and students should rotate responsibilities rather than duplicating care on the same patient. More concerning was the repeated disregard for my clearly documented and verbally stated boundaries. My medical chart explicitly noted that I did not want male nurses or doctors in my room, with the only exception being the delivery itself or if no female provider was available. Despite this, a young male doctor-in-training repeatedly entered my room attempting to perform cervical checks. I had to raise my voice before he finally stepped out to get a female nurse. Even then, he followed her into the room and was allowed to remain despite me clearly stating--again--that I was not comfortable. I was told, "He's just going to watch." That was not acceptable, and it was not what I consented to. This same individual later entered the room again during a serious complication after delivery when my placenta was found to be retained and adhered to my uterine wall. An older female physician was brought in to assist, and once again, he asked the physician--not me--if he could participate. I explicitly stated that I did not want him present, yet he remained and actively assisted in the procedure. There were multiple female staff members available at that time who could have helped. My comfort, consent, and autonomy were once again ignored in favor of someone completing clinical hours. Patients--especially laboring mothers--should never have to repeatedly defend their boundaries or feel powerless during such a vulnerable moment. Consent is not a one-time checkbox; it is ongoing, and it must be respected. The only positive aspect of my stay was the bedside nursing staff. The nurses who directly cared for me were compassionate, attentive, and supportive. An older nurse named Wendy went above and beyond--she even braided my hair, a small gesture that meant more than she likely realized. Nurses Sarah Grace, Erin, and Kim were also exceptional and deserve recognition for their professionalism and kindness. I am sharing this experience not out of spite, but out of hope that meaningful changes are made. No patient should leave childbirth feeling violated, ignored, or traumatized. Education is important--but it should never come at the expense of patient dignity, consent, and safety. read more

Worst ER, wait 4 hrs, get moved from one waiting room to another, sit in a chair the entire time when sitting up is a problem. When they finally do see you, they move you into the hall with other people who are waiting for tests. Nurse Shirley is 110 and cant hear. Way to go American healthcare. read more

I base this on the ER which are rude as can be specially certain nurses treat you like your trash.

I had Thoracic Spinal surgery in Oct of 24. It was a complete nightmare! I woke up on the table after surgery with some heavy nurse claiming they are having a hard time medicating me due to all the meds I took before! I took prescribed meds because my Spine significantly narrowed and was conpressed! They treated me like I was a drug user which I am not nor ever have been!! Now 6 mths later I find myself with a 10cm large fibroid twisting and In excrutiating pain and am faced with the decision to have it rupture or turn gangrene or die or go to this hospital! No one should wake up on the table and be accused for something they did not do or be treated with NO PAIN medication after surgery because they think your a drug user!! Best hospital staying I have ever experienced. The nurses were kind and attentive. The food was really good for hospital food, better than Denny's and I got choice of meal. They never treated me like a burden or like I was in the way of there work. Billing was an odd issue but the stay and care were wonderful. read more

My 94-year-old mama went into ER on Wednesday with the flu, breathing difficulties. Yesterday heard she was doing better, then got a call back saying she was doing worse and per her POLST wishes needed to be clarified. That scared me.....and that was the last I heard from them until 3pm today. I just got word that she has Pneumonia now (her lungs were clear per EMTs when she was first transported) and she has to be restrained as she is pulling her lines and trying to get up. Mama has dementia and needs to be monitored not tied into bed. I am HORRIFIED. If I did not also have the flu I would be by her side. If I cannot find an advocate for mama, I will go in there sick or not. UPDATE: Was told she was released to go home at 1:30, after I met with the OT for a few minutes. After waiting 2 more hours I heard her pharmacy meds were not ready so I asked if we could go home and I could come back next day to pick them up. Nurse seemed put out by my request (but I am also recovering from the flu and felt like shit, we needed to go home) and told me to go get the car and she would be right down. Another hour past and she came....with the meds. The nurse made us wait after all. Mom could not eat because her mouth hurt and I finally looked at her inner lip and she had two big burns on her lip from them giving her scalding hot coffee....and they did nothing to treat it. I warn everyone, i know to stay away from Providence. I ended up waiting 54 days for uterine cancer surgery from my diagnosis. I went from no tumor to a golfball size tumor. After surgery asked nurse what i could eat since, I was diabetic and just had a hysterectomy. She offered the open roast beef sandwich on bread. WARNI G DONT EAT YOUR BOWELS ARE PARALYZE, IT WILL CAUSE AGONY. Stay away from their Oncology team. Care and team are oxymoron as far as they are concerned. Also dont trust them to put correct Information, they changed hemorrhaging and murder scene to spotting and occasional heavy flow. I am 65 IF THERE WAS A NEGATIVE RARING NEGATIVE 5 read more

So the other day i spent 6.5 hours at the E.R. at St Peters hospital in Lacey WA. I was diagnosed with a severe case of Pleurisy. At the end of my visit the doctor asked if i wanted pain meds. I said "Do u think i need them? That dilaudid you gave me sure has seemed to work." The doctor replied "i think ur on the downhill end of this. You should be fine. Maybe just some relaxation and Tylenol should do the trick. I said "Okay, cuz i have a few 5mg Oxycodones left at home if it gets too bad?" I then left hospital (with never experiencing Pleurisy before) after about 3-4hrs at home the pain was back and it was unbearable!!!!! Keep in mind i dont drink alcohol, dont smoke, eat meat nor drink caffeine. I cannot stand the way any narcotics make me feel ever! While at home and into the next day the tylenol and the few oxycodones i had previously, i then took them several hours apart and they were gone by 17 hours later. I could not stand up or walk and was vomiting in horrible pain. I then called the same E.R. at St Peters Dr. GILDAY and explained to the charge nurse my situation and said that the doctor (Gilday) never even remotely stated that the pain could come back with such full force AND MORE!! I asked if the doctor could prescribe me something. I even VERY BLATANTLY stated i would much rather have something that is a non narcotic......or maybe an anti inflammatory of some kind. He said NO i can give nothing at all. And then Dr. GILDAY said "if he thinks its bad enough then call 911." Here i just saw this doctor the day before, he was the one who diagnosed me and even offered me painkillers before i left! (in hindsight duh, i shoulda said yes) but the fact is i did say no to drugs that day cuz i felt decent but the next day i was in a full on 10 of 10 pain on the pain scale! I could barely even breathe! Could he not see this situation?...... i even asked for NON NARCOTICS!!.....He still said NO! So i called another E.R. and explained my curcumstances and faxed my previous daily paperwork from hospital. She looked it over and within 20 seconds she said "Uh, question? There are no anti-inflammatories on any of your paperwork?" I said No, cuz he said i dont need it and my pain would not get any worst most likely. She said (the actual female doctor at the new E.R.) well get in here so i can look at ya right quick. When i got to the E.R. thanks to my mother cuz i couldnt drive. And my two buddies who carried me to the car as i was vomiting in pain. I reached the hospital, checked in and saw the doctor once she heard i was there. She said "OMG! Your pale, sweating and shaking!. They then took my pressure which is normally 118/72 and this night it was 186/138. My heart rate is usually about 62-64 per minute This nite it was 121 per minute. My new doctor apologized for my lack of care and underdiagnosing that i received at St Peters E.R. in Lacey. She gave me 1mg of Dilaudid and gave me a bolus of Prednisone......thats all i needed! That was it!!!!!.......a steroid!!!!! My pain was 100% gone within 6-8hrs! My doctor even said that for a doctor to not prescribe a steroid for something like this especially when it can take 2-10 days to heal from a bout of Pleurisy. She said it was an absurd act and that my previous doctor Dr GILDAY was either ignorant or lacked greatly in basic assessment and treatment skills. It was a relief to hear her say that. Since my previous doctor Dr Gilday not only lacked in compassion but he also doesnt have a clue of the difference between a drug seeker and someone who is in genuine pain. He even really missed the boat on treatment. I coulda got a steroid shot from the beginning and saved my self an entire days misery and hell......So if you end up in St Peters E.R. in Lacey WA and you get Dr. Gilday as your physician. He will play every expensive rule out he can think of and then after all that time and hassle and your money is spent, then he will give u the REAL diagnosis after he jus charged you $15,000 in wasted diagnostics During my stay at new E.R. i was even offered dilaudid again if i needed it. And i denied it becuz my pain was absolutely bearable. This not only shows im not a drug seeker, but it also shows what a lack of compassion or smarts the E.R. Dr. GILDAY was missing at St Peters in Lacey......... I have read soooo maby posts like mine about St Peters E.R. in Lacey WA and and all my friends i have spoke with have all shared a similiar story as well. Its quite obvious of the lack of professionalism, lack of compassion as well as a huge lack in bedside manner the entire dept carries. That horrrible ambience and atmosphere is like a plague in there. Nurses nagging and whining right in front of you.......sooooo sad.....i will NEVER EVER go there again. If im hit by. A car i will drag my own body over the county line if need be. Grow up St Peters E.R. in Lacey WA.......GROW UP!.......Your hurting people! read more
