#THANKYOUTHURSDAY…read more Urgent Care is never the spot you want to be at, but when you need it, it's frustrating when you're not able to get in. This was the case for me this week - my son came down with a nasty cough and was complaining of ear pain, so I wanted to get him in and make sure we weren't dealing with anything serious. The Point Ruston Indigo was the ONLY place that was close-ish by that had same day appointments and easy online booking. Thaaaank gooodnessss. This was our first time to this particular urgent care, and I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and updated it is! I know a lot of the businesses at Ruston are newer, and this spot is no exception. All of the staff was really nice. The front desk woman was nice and got us back as quickly as she could, and the nurse/medical assistant who we dealt with for the first half of our appointment was so great with my son. He had to get the nasal swab which is never fun, but she was awesome with him and was able to get it done with next to no tears. The actual provider was also really nice and got us out with our prescription for antibiotics quickly. When we left I got a call from them that we had left my daughter's binky behind (which was yet to be discovered) which I thought was so kind of them! I know some kids are very attached to a certain type of binky, so that could've been catastrophic. Thank you to this office for providing the community with great and efficient care!

Saw Joseph Guthrie he was very nice, and I thank him for being efficient! Only downfall is that parking lot, the Starbucks drive thru line is right in front of the parking. So I had to wait for the line to move so I could back out, but nothing having to do with how amazing Indigo is! Starbucks needs a new location! Thank you for being awesome!

I don't like reviews where people start off with "I have always loved this place but on this one…read moreoccasion, they didn't seat me immediately, bring water on a timely basis etc." therefore they give them one star after dozens of trips. That said, I give this place 2.5 stars. I have been there a few times and left neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. However, my last experience left me very dissatisfied. I had been sick for about 9-10 days before I determined that I wasn't going to get better. I really try and fight the urge to go to an Urgent Care at this time of year during... cold and flu season. Indigo is close so I went on their site, and I was #21 in line. Set up a virtual session this time, big mistake. The provider was nice, I shared my history with her, and she gave referrals to address my root cause issues. That said, my immediate symptoms were not treated. Of course, there would be no blood draws, no sampling of any bios. I told her what previous fixes worked for my symptoms; those, being antibiotics (BTW I am 63, what death do I need to wait out before it's determined, now he needs antibiotics) or steroid treatments. I had a cough, didn't need treatment and said don't prescribe Benzonatate. I have a surplus of it and take over the counter syrups when ill. It was prescribed anyway and, in a rush, paid for it at CVS because there was another scrip. Since I was feeling no better 6 days later, I appealed to the clinic to reconsider treating me in the ways I suggested. I did not want to have to wade through a cadre of sick people, for hours, only to set up another expensive visit and spend additional hours at a walk in. I AM CERTAINLY NOT ABOVE the usual pecking order of urgent treatment, but this is, IMO, sub-par follow through.

Specifically shouting out a few nurses that really made a difference for me were Jillian, Bre, Lakita, Katie and Caitlyn (if the names were wrong or spelled wrong I'm sorry, I was a little loopy a lot of the time). Honestly my whole care team was amazing. I'm coming back to this labor and delivery for my next baby because I know I'm going to get the best care.

Today's interview with the Providence Emergency Department Crisis Unit, once again, several people…read moreinitially presented for the interview panel. The Program Coordinator Behavioral Health Services, an LMHC, I would have to say, was the one person who coordinated this interview who had the least social and professional personality and presented as "stand-offish". It was embarrassing that this credentialed individual in my field of work (mental health) would not have better interview skills than this, but it is the reality of Providence that they hired her. The Program Coordinator was vague and uninviting, and when asked about the next step in the interview process, she immediately dodged the question by saying they had several more interviews this week and into next week. However, I asked when I would know the outcome. One interviewer, a manager, struggled to ask his questions (i.e., speaking and coordinating his words were difficult), and another nurse manager asked when I was completing my doctorate, which was already on my resume. The manager who was struggling to speak because my PsyD from an APA-approved university asked that, once I finished, I move to the other state where the degree came from. Before this question, I had already mentioned that I live in Washington, that my family is in Washington, and that this was our "forever" home, but he asked again. The interview began with six participants, but by the end, only three remained on the call. Attendees dropped off while I was answering the interview questions. Leaving a virtual interview abruptly, without explanation, is generally considered unprofessional and discourteous, as it shows a lack of respect for the candidate's time. Although technical issues can occur, professional etiquette suggests that an interviewer should acknowledge the issue, offer an apology if feasible, and arrange a reschedule. Moreover, the meeting was intended to be an interview, but it lacked structure; the questions posed were random and were made spontaneously by each interviewer. Due to the virtual format, we encountered connectivity issues that caused an echo when we spoke, as well as delays in the sound from the management officials. Still, be mindful that this is not how you treat an applicant by making them responsible for resolving connectivity issues and take the time to explain what this job entails. Not one manager took the time to discuss the position. This is an organization that may (or may not) pay well. However, the fact that people in management positions who hire for the emergency department and a crisis unit cannot have better communication or interview skills is clearly wasting massive amounts of money on useless interviews. It leaves an applicant to believe there is no accountability, and if the public does their research, they will find comments like, "...multiple nurses walked by and did not check on me or say anything to the nurse assigned to me. They have that 'if it is not my patient, it is not my problem' attitude..." The response is probably how the staff feel about their job today. Again, I recommend that you save your skills and go somewhere where you feel valued from the start of your interview through the hiring process. Avoid the Providence Health System (especially in Olympia, Washington) as a whole.
