TLDR: My established medications were halved without notice by a doctor because I'm "a young female." -- I was seeing Kim (ARNP) for over a year, and she retired. My care was transferred to Dr. Ahmad. Despite assurances that everything would be transferred seamlessly and my established treatment plans would be maintained as is, Dr. Ahmad chose to reduce the dosage of my primary source of pain relief by half. Without telling me. No one contacted me to inform me of this, and I would not have even known this change happened if I had not looked at my bottle to make sure I received the correct medication through the mail. Upon requesting an explanation, I was told that the doctor FELT my dosage was "a very high dose for a young female" and admitted to not knowing anything about my case. Yelp is preventing me from sharing the MyChart screenshots... here's a direct copy and paste of the messages: Me: 11:28 AM I'd like to know why my Celebrex was refilled at half strength. I was receiving 200 mg twice a day, and was reduced without notice to 100mg. If you're new to the area and seeking a primary care provider, don't waste your time. I wasted a lot of it, searching their website and Aetna's for practitioners who were accepting new patients, looking over various characteristics of each that I consider important, and then I tried to make appointments. Guess what? Those providers were not actually accepting new patients. What about providers at one of the two Olympia clinics run by Providence? The earliest appointment available for a new patient annual exam offered to me in my phone call (which I made after it became clear that the website wouldn't enable me to complete this task) was just under five months out. I'm not sure why they would be so profoundly incapable of serving this need, and it is fun to speculate, but the bottom line is that attempting to do this with Providence is apparently not possible in Olympia. read more

No one wants to go to Urgent Care. Ever. But, sometimes it's just necessary. This is a health facility that is well organized, efficient and friendly. Most of the time you can walk in, but when things get too crowded, they require an appointment. It's always good to call before you leave the house. All the ARNPs, Doctors and Nurses have been attentive, skilled, timely and professional. ( I've only had ONE Dr not listen, not care and not treat me for a reoccurring condition). The front desk personnel does an excellent job with sometimes difficult circumstances. The seating leaves a lot to be desired, so come alone, or limit the number of people you bring. If you DO end up needing to go to the hospital, they make it easier by contacting the facility and sending you with paperwork so you don't have to "begin again". It makes for a smooth transition and may save time. Know that only the Westside and Hawks Prairie facilities have ultrasound machines. :) read more

The doctors are really bad quacks, pneumonia, bronchise, infection, lung disease for 2 years. They kept telling me I'm gonna die and you go home and kill myself, they told me, these are nazi darkers, they're very bad people. They'tches they're very bad to try to kill you, put your wrong medication. And I dismissed myself because they abused me for the last few years. Enough is enough a military trade people like a human respect. They don't. They're cold nazi, which is they don't understand what it means to take care of your client's with patients. They put me on the wrong medication. Tell me go home because I have diabetes. And go in the hospital, check and found that with ahmachihavo, double pneumonia for the last 2 years. Going, there is a very bad situation. You're going to end up. They're going to end up killing you. And they did, I had a heart attack because of these guys, anxiety because of these guys, they tell you, go home and kill yourself. Exact to wait 1.5 hrs every time you have an appointment, if the doctor shows up at all. Not thorough. Hardly worth your time.

I would leave zero stars if I could. My daughter had an established doctor with Providence, and that doctor quit. She has attempted multiple times to get a new appointment with the new doctor they assigned and the soonest they will make the appointment is 3 months down the road. She has been out of her ADHD medicine which she has taken for 15 years, and they won't give her the medication until she sees the new doctor, despite the fact that she had a standing order from the previous physician that was good through December. She is a senior at UW and has never gotten a single grade below an A. Now she is struggling to maintain B's and C's. But nobody at Providence will listen or even attempt to help. Multiple emails through MyChart to her care team are unanswered. I fail to understand how their human resource problems ruining my child's future is a complete non priority for them. She has begged for an earlier appointment, asked for a different primary care physician (she is more comfortable with female doctors as a victim of sexual abuse) and they have flat out refused to assist in any way whatsoever. And they aren't even nice or apologetic about it. They could care less....they don't care enough to even respond to email. This is the most ridiculous medical group I've ever dealt with. I guess the key to quality medical care is the actual physician..If you are assigned a person with No integrity..and my standards are LOW for that characteristic.... to fail to meet my low standard means you are really a LIAR. ... My first experiences there were .. for lack of a better word... ridiculously crappy. Since I have been assigned to Dr Pletz.. it has been amazing.. The PA was simply a liar.. She blatantly lied and said that the entire Province medical system forbade diet pill prescriptions.. . After researching and calling all over the Pacific NorthWest...discovered that the PA had lied. Nothing worse than a skinny person telling you "ABSOLUTELY NOT" to a diet pill.. Now, this new physician is awesome... and I have no complaints.. which is truly shocking .. Its not like the new Dr. is writing diet pill prescriptions out the gazoo.. but at least she did not outright lie ....but did offer options and valuable info on weight issues. read more

I am new to the area. I sprained my ankle pretty bad and had it checked out here. The ladies in front for the immediate care department were very friendly. DR Galvin was awesome. Made me feel comfortable and didn't make me do anything unneeded. And super cute by the way lol. Had a great experience. read more

My wife gets routine blood tests for her Thyroid. At the UW clinic they charge about $75. At Labcorp - which is who used to provide blood tests at her Providence doctor's office - they charge about $200. At this clinic they charge more than $900 for the same tests. The claim shows that the provider was Providence Hospital. Beware of how Providence price gouges! read more

Worst customer service ever! I have been attempting to get an appointment with Dr. Ahmad for around 3 months and have made at least 6 phone calls. The only person I can leave a message for us Jennifer, and she takes 2-3 weeks to return a call. If you miss her call and call her back (she never answers her phone), then expect to wait another 2-3 weeks for her to call again. She claims they never got my referral but when I asked (on voice mail of course) for a fax number in case my PCP had the wrong number, she never called back. Dr. Ahmad may be the best doctor ever, but thanks to Jennifer not caring one iota for the patients, I will never know. Don't waste your time trying to get an appointment, week someone else with a more caring receptionist. read more

I went to urgent care after work due to a long lasting (9 days and counting)  cold, and facial pain. I was seen quickly, vitals taken, etc. I was then attended to by a nurse practitioner who started suggesting over the counter meds to take for my cold.   When I asked about drug interactions with a daily med I take for a chronic condition, he said there were none, but looked it up almost to humor me. Yes, there were serious interactions.   This is all before he's done anything to examine me. Finally I tell him about my facial pain since he wasn't asking much about my symptoms. He finally starts his exam, and tells me it's viral. He says "even if your sinus infection is bacterial,  50% of the time it clears up on its own. Then he suggests more over the counter meds to take including another with drug interactions. I know what is safe and not safe for me to take with my med. He says he's going to give me discharge papers and leaves the room.   Several minutes later he comes back because he "forgot to check my lungs". And so he does. Says someone will come in with my discharge papers. A few more minutes pass. He comes back. "Have you gotten your papers yet? ". He then gets my papers so that I can leave.  I went to a different urgent care the next day.   Same symptoms, and got prescribed antibiotics which cleared up my sinus infection and had me feeling better within a couple of days.   I will not return to your facility, and will warn people against it. read more

My Dr had one of the best "bed side manners" I've experienced. Not typical of a walk-in or urgent care facility. I felt like I was talking with my regular PCP. To this day I am dumbstruck why the medical care in this country seems to be so sub-par. I'm not sure if this is the result of how medicine has devolved into a profit-based system, or if the calibre of medical administrators and doctors and affiliated services have just receded from patient-based care to a cattle drive. But nonetheless, it's beginning to be an exercise in futility to access good medical care. Case in point: my partner has a recurring skin lesion and needed a referral to a dermatologist. Simple, right? Not so fast. Even though he's been seen at the same dermatologist before, WITH a referral from his primary care doctor at Providence, when he went to make an appointment again was told he needed another referral. When he contacted Providence to obtain another referral, was told that even though he has had the same referral before, and even though it's the same condition with the same doctor, their "Referral Team" would have to review the request before a referral could be obtained. And more problematic, the "Referral Team" would probably not get around to it for at least a week. I find this the height of medical bureaucratic insanity, making more work for staff, and certainly not taking into account patient customer service. This is probably not the fault of the medical practice, and it may well be a hoop that the insurance companies require, but all and all, it's a policy worth re-visiting and changing. read more

I had just had a bike accident within the hour at Cheh as Los trail...hit gravel and landed hard on my left ribs and felt immediate pain from left to sternum. My heart pounded very fast and the pain got worse...we drove to clinic and several times I kept thinking I may not make it because the pain was so bad by my heart and sternum and I'm over 50..and couldnt breathe well due to my ribs and sternum probably injury.after a nurse did my vitals a male nurse(lp) came in to talk to me ...he asked questions and poked around my ribs and sternum and seemed frustrated I couldnt tell him where it hurt...he was saying "here?" "Here? In random spots I mentioned that my left shoulder blade was starting to hurt too. He left and he he poked more. He then decided that I was fine and I asked if he was going to xray...he said " oh do you want an xray?" And ordered one. Later came in and ssid xray looks good but he would let the radiologist as look at it as hes the pro. I asked about my blood pressure and he said in an annoyed voice I'm checking your ribs not your heart" Thankfully, my ribs were not broken and he said I would hurt more later. Did not give me any guidance on what to do other then go home..he was very passive aggressive with me while I sat there in pain thking I possibly had broken something. I later read his note on my chart..".BP 142/79...may need to be checked for hypertension" seriously? I just crashed on gravely riding a bike at over 15 miles an hour and you think I have hypertension??...I'm still hanging out in my recliner immobile ..the next day...cant bend turn or stand without excruciating pain on my left side from sternum to left rib side. Providence Medical Group provides excellent health care. Appointment times are always prompt and it is easy to make an appointment with the physician of your choice. I used to go to the Everett /Bothell office of Providence (while living in Tacoma). The drive became unbearable so I transferred to the new offices they had just remodeled in Lacey. All has worked out perfectly. The physician I see (Dr. Kenneth Kooser) with is quite caring and answers all of your questions. He doesn't just get you in and out like a cow in the stock. I would highly recommend these guys. The lab is nice and proficient as well. Very nice newly remodeled building, lots of parking, easy to get to.....try it, you just may like it!!! read more
