I'm not a member of Provident Credit Union. However, I had the most efficient, positive, and smooth transaction selling my vehicle with a seller who banks at PCU. We met up at this particular location and I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant experience at a credit union, specifically because of Nancy. She was so kind, helpful, and skilled and made the transaction between me and the seller easy peasy. I highly recommend this branch because of Nancy and I hope she gets all the recognition and praise in the world. Also, this particular PCU was tucked in a very peaceful plaza that felt safe (and had ample parking spaces). They have some nice bankers and tellers at this branch. Unfortunately, their staff is also not very confident about informing locals about the options to use their services. The visits we seen during randoms were okay: the staff is informative, and helpful, but their system needs work. Poorly managed and inconsistent service. Arbitrary policies. I went to the Sunnyvale branch to open a new business account. We had an appointment. The business is a California LLC that owns a commercial building and collects rent from tenants. We had to wait for the appointment (it didn't start on time) and went through the process of opening the account. After about 30 minutes, we were asked what the business did. He told us "sorry, we don't open business acounts for 'real estate' businesses" and could not open our account. Out of curiosity, we called customer service and asked if they could open a business account for a business that owns a commercial building, collects rent, and maintains the building. The woman who handled the customer service call--after putting me on hold for about 5 minutes to check--said there's no problem. I told her I was just at the branch in Sunnyvale and they said they couldn't do it. She didn't give an explanation, she just said "well, if that's what the branch says, that must be the rule." (Why, then, did she tell me it was fine?) There's no way to start an application on-line for a business account, and they don't have a list of "allowed business types" on their website, so the only way you can find out is by making an appointment and wasting your time. Two people had to drive to their office, wait 40 minutes, only to be sent away. This is unacceptable. They also won't issue business credit cards for new businesses. Other banks will do this, as long as you're willing to personally guarantee the debt and you have a good credit score. Do not do business with Provident CU. read more

He gave me and my wife a breakdown of the different payment plans and interest rates. We provided all of the required documentations. Within the same day or next day. You would receive your loan application preapproved. He gave great helpful tips on preparing to shop for a new vehicle. Especially. all of the warning signs from the car salesman. I've had my account open for about 2 months now. I opened it because we had sold our house and figured we'd rather have our money in a local credit union than a big bank. Now 2 Months in, I can't believe I'm saying it, but big banking was better. The online banking system doesn't recognize my info, so I can't even get it set up. I tried calling in - no luck. I went into the Palo Alto branch in person, they couldn't help but they made an appointment for me. That got cancelled and not rescheduled, and I haven't had the time to deal with it, so yeah that sucks. On two occasions now, my debit card has been cancelled for no good reason. The first was getting gas here locally in Silicon Valley. I was stranded for about an hour until I could get it working again through their automated text system. The second time I was travelling, and again getting gas. I was off the grid in a little town so I just had my partner pay, but I didn't know my card was blocked. I just figured it was an issue with their reader, and I didn't get any notification through their text system. Tonight, went out to eat with some friends, whom I owed a dinner. My card was blocked, and I spent an hour on hold talking to 3 different people before I got it working again, plus a ton of embarrassment. I'm planning to pull all of my money back out on Monday, after unfortunately getting chased back to the big banks. IDK if they're just better equipped on the technology front, but it makes for a better user experience. read more

Home buying process isn't that simple, specially at this market but Nasreen Abbasi (branch manager) made the impossible to possible for me and my family. I've been a member of Provident Credit Union and will be taking my money elsewhere as soon as I can. Day to day stuff they're okay, but they made trying to buy our house an absolute nightmare. They are inconsistent about how they handle large money transfers - you know, the kind you need to make when you buy a house. When we had a fraud alert on our card, they were quick enough about cancelling the old card, but trying to get a new one is like pulling teeth. Talking them on the phone wasn't enough - I got an email that required me to set up another - totally different/new account with the bank - only to get a message saying I need to call them and then when I called them I find out I have to go to a DiFFERENT account to send them a message. This location is hidden behind huge industrial buildings and the M8trix Casino. It can be found in the cracks of Starbucks, a Japanese restaurant, a bagel shop, and Jalapenos, a Mexican restaurant. There's plenty of parking, which is a plus. I was lured into joining a credit union because of their No Fee's on certain ATM machines. Imagine all the change, I mean money, I'll be saving! I was greeted immediately by the teller, assistant manager, banker, and branch manager. There was one other customer in there at the time. I definitely felt welcomed because of there attentive customer service. The location was clean and well managed. I came in to open a checking and savings and both the assistant manager Nicole, and banker Patrick were extremely helpful and explaining all the benefits to me. I really liked the little PCU booklet they gave me with helpful hints and ATM's that I won't get charged for. I was set up with online banking, direct deposit, the whole 9 yards. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with great staff. I do not get this kind of service at other banks. The customer service has me coming back for sure. Oh and their high interest rate for the checking account of course. OH WAIT, but there's also member only discounts on certain attractions! Big Plus for me joining Provident credit union! read more

It caught my attention how awesome Provident Credit Union is with their NO FEE charge on a lot of the ATMs, including 7/11 which of course is 24 hours, plus I'm always there lol.
