Where to start? TLDR; wrong billing for insurance, then tried to get yet more $ out of me to correct; badly wrong PD on Rx that rendered this year's AND last year's glasses worthless. Longtime patient. My insurance pays for either contacts or glasses 1x per year, not both. Last year did contacts - fine. This year, was very specific about glasses Rx. Received the Rx, but also "just because I was there" was talked into a quick contact eval which amounted to putting in the lenses and reading the chart; no change in Rx. There was no corneal eval, no rotation check, nothing, but I paid some extra at checkout for the service. Then the problems: insurance wouldn't pay for glasses because Prudhomme had billed for a contact fitting. After several increasingly aggravating calls, they billed the insurer correctly (but initially told me I'd need to pay even more $ for the contact eval; eventually they relented). For several reasons I ended up buying glasses from another vendor my insurer recommended, and - surprise! Prudhomme had my PD Rx wrong (too narrow) by about 10mm. Not sure how this is going to go with the current glasses vendor, BUT after a couple hours, it occurred to me I bought glasses a year ago (2024) that were unwearable - turns out Prudhomme put the wrong PD on THAT (earlier) Rx too, complete waste of my money. read more

I made an appointment at the Westfarms location for a 1:30 appointment for an eye exam. I arrived at 1:20, as I was asked to do. No one told me the doctor was behind schedule. No one told me only one doctor was on. At 2:05, I asked why I was still waiting. "Sometimes things happen that change the schedule by a few minutes." I responded that 30-40 minutes is not "a few minutes." I wasn't able to escalate my complaint as the office manager was not in. The receptionist, while pleasant, was useless. I left. I had plans in the afternoon, and my time is valuable. At 2:10, I received a call from the doctor. He said there had been earlier "emergency," but he could see me now "without having to wait." Only, I had already waited. I said I wouldn't be coming back then or ever. The next morning I received an auto-email as if I'd no-showed for the appointment, reminding me to "reschedule for a better time." The customer service was awful, and neither the receptionist nor the doctor cared about wasting my time and did not offer a discount or incentive for me to return. When I got my eye glasses home. Both pairs, reading and distance were not right. I tried living with them but could not wear for long. It was blurry, unfocused, and seemed like I was wearing someone else's glasses. They had me come in twice to fix. Still not right. They hang up after telling me to hold. Won't return my calls. I'm very patient and kind to them. They are ignoring me. I had wished it would have worked out. But I still have no glasses. I really need them. Money wasted. Doctor didn't do the exam. A young girl did. Both times. He just popped in the door at the end of exam for a quick look. I am very disappointed and sad. read more

If I could leave a review separate for the office staff vs Dr. Prudhomme and Dr. White, then it would get 5 stars. Very professional, efficient, and attentive to what works best for my girls. HOWEVER, when I got to the point of waiting for the response of the special contact lens that my girls need, it turns into a nightmare. No info about cost of the lens, no ETA about when it will come in for my girls to try, no follow ups. I called after 2 weeks of the appointment and got kicked around and rude replies (hang up on me). If you are just do your annual vision check, you can surely chose them, but if anything more than that, THINK TWICE. read more

I have been going to Prudhomme for over two years. Front office staff is quick and efficient. The doctor's are all very friendly and make you feel comfortable and relaxed. They also do a great job of answering any and all questions I have regarding my vision. Very highly recommended. Two weeks ago my husband was here for his first vision test and he was raving me about the doctors here. He asked me too, to go here. Been here this weekend. Easy appointments lovely staff and awesome doctors too. Got the eye exam done in 35 to 40 minutes. The staff on board were professional, knowledgeable and friendly, very comfortable. Dr. Prudhomme was very welcoming and understanding. He is very personable, and will listen to any concerns you may have. Overall, a great experience and I also like the fact that he is always willing to discuss contacts as an option. The staff are great as well and very accommodating. About 2 years ago I had a terrible experience with a new Optometrist. It frankly left me sour with the whole profession. I feel sorry you can't compete with online contact retailers but do you really need to surprise your patients with fees as a result? Anyways, shortly before a trip to Jamaica I realized I was out of contacts! No contacts = no sunglasses. I definitely wasn't heading back to the place that pushed over priced , back-order only contacts on me two years ago. So I did what everyone troubled American does: rely on a brand. I figured Lens Crafters would be able to accommodate a same day appointment and maybe have my contacts in stock. I was able to get an appointment same day at the Buckland Hills Mall location. When I arrived I was told that the Optometrists at Lens Crafters are actually independent business, ok...? (I am at this point super skeptical and wary of the Optometrist trade.) I finally sit down with the Dr. and go on the offensive; asking about fees and confirming that I'll be able to get at least 3 weeks worth of sealed sample contacts that day etc. etc. What ensues is one of the best customer experiences of my life! Jeremy took great care of me, told me I didn't even need the overpriced contacts the other place had pushed on me. He then counseled me on the pros and cons of single day and multi-day contacts. It never occurred to me you could have both depending on your wearing habits. I eventually left with 2 pairs of 2 week contacts and a weeks worth of single day contacts so I could try them out and see which works best for ME. (Despite the intense likely hood I'll order which ever I choose online) Jeremy single handedly redeemed his entire profession in my eyes and I highly recommend him. read more

It is easy to make an appointment and the staff is friendly. Pray though that you don't have something possibly serious going on health wise with your eyes. I have had to call them every day, 3 times a day since I found out I might need further testing for a very serious issue to hold the staffs hand and make sure they are completing each step of their job. If I don't call to follow up it doesn't get done. I have suffered through 4 days of stress waiting for them to get past records from my last optometrist so the Dr. can review my history to determine next steps. There seems to be no communication between the Dr. and the staff on what type of follow up is needed or any sense of urgency. It has taken them 3 DAYS to even send the request to my old offices to get the information they need! They were going to fax my chart from their office to my old optometrist even after I explicitly explained the situation and what I needed every. single. time. I. called. all. 10. times. At this point as soon as Dr. Prudhomme reviews and makes a recommendation I'm pulling my files from them and never ever going back. Of course I'll probably have to make 6 more phone calls tomorrow to make that happen. read more

I have been seeing Dr Prudhomme for 5 years and highly recommend he and/ or his staff. Dr Prudhomme is thorough, friendly, professional and has gone above and beyond to ensure I am wearing the "right"contacts.... there have been some challenges as my eyes have changed over the years and as of Saturday, I no longer need my "readers'! In addition, the convenience factor is hands down above the rest. Prudhomme Vision accepts last minute appointments and walk ins. Honestly, look at the reviews here and decide for yourself if they are real or not. Do they tell a story that sounds a little too good to be true? Do they look like the reviews you see on sites like Amazon? Or are they a bit more embellishing. You be the judge. Every time I've been in this store there are almost no employees, and the doctor office is fully booked. It's overwhelming. Employees seem under trained, understaffed, and overworked. I would go basically anywhere else but this store. That's a real review from a real human being not being paid to write a fake story. read more

The receptionists were very professional and polite. Super easy to make an appointment and the late hours are great. I was able to get my pre check before my appointment time and I was in within 5 min of my actual appt. it only took about 25 min for the eye and contact exam. Overall very impressed! The doctor recommended a new set of contacts and solution and gave me some samples to try! Would definitely recommend trying it out!! read more

I have been going here for the past several years and the level of service has never declined. This office and ALL of its members will do WHATEVER is necessary to accommodate you. I had an issue with a contact lens solution that was burning my eyes, called them last minute after I left the hospital and they took me without any question. I started going here when I lived closer to their location, now I travel out of my way to keep them. I refuse to go anywhere else not only because of the service but also their high level of aptitude in their profession. GREAT CHOICE you won't regret it!!!!! read more
