Avoid....I left my computer with shawn & he allowed a contract worked access to my computer. They downloaded all my credit card and bank info along with my son's business accst. All were hacked with over $10K in fraudulent charges and attempts to withdraw funds costing us losses & time closing and opening new accts. I was really debating writing a review because I always support small businesses . But my experience was less than great. I called the shop because my laptop wouldn't charge. My laptop is less than one year old. The guy on the phone said it's a common problem and easy to fix. I asked how much it would cost ( estimate) and he said between $75-&160. Ok, so I bring in my laptop and he said " Ohhhh!!! That's an Alienware , very expensive laptop!" I said yes, I know and I am excited to get it fixed. He opens up the back and says he can order the part and would also replace the fans. I told him the fans work fine I really just need the dc Jack replaced. He cleans the fans which I appreciated, they were dusty. He looks something up online and turns around and says " With the fan replacement I can do it for $375. " Again, I said the fans work fine I truly just need the DC charging Jack replaced. He says :" Ok, without the fans, $340, that's the best I can do!" I was flustered and told him to please put my laptop back together , I need to talk it over with my husband. I know I am a woman and maybe he thought I wouldn't do my research first - But this place will never see me again. It's more of a bargain shop than a customer repair shop. My computer was frozen by a flashing sign and a loud female voice telling me that malware was trying to hack into my computer and that I should call the number on the screen. Knowing enough to know that I shouldn't call that number, I froze, too. I'd been told that I should shut down and unplug my computer, but the message said that if I shut it down, the threat would enter upon my exit. I panicked and looked up Microsoft Tech Support, called the number that showed up in bold, and then was lied to and tricked by them. Microsoft doesn't have a tech phone number that the public can call, so other businesses (or scams) show up when you search. I called Puget Sound Computer Repair and Shawn Burdett answered. I told him that I needed to bring my computer into the shop the next day (this was a Friday evening) and that I was terrified that all of my bank accounts would be emptied if I didn't get it cleaned immediately. The call dropped, so I texted him and he waited overnight before texting me back that he would go to work on a Saturday but only for TRIPLE what it cost me at Olympia Computer, where I ended up going. First he let me stay afraid overnight and then he texted me back on Saturday that it would be triple price for a simple cleaning of my computer. We took our two laptop here, they replaced the hard drive, it now works slower then it did with the old one. The other laptop, Libra and Word was put on, none of the documents will open, took it back, the documents still will not work. Spent a lot of money. Walked into the shop after identified this company on a Google search. Two gentlemen work here the owner, Shawn, and his assistant, Christian. When I walked in, the owner received me immediately asking how he could help me. I explained how I had dropped a laptop and a desktop at home and needed a Computer diagnostic performed immediately if possible. He was busy however took a moment to assess my problem and a moment turned into almost an hour.although this may not be the norm, he did not hesitate once and recommending all the possibilities that I could take. The fact that he took time out of his schedule to diagnose during a low traffic time, convinced me that he exemplified excellence in service. I guess I was impressed not only by his demeanor but also by the fact that he has computer science degrees from USC. He has worked in private industry now for several years owning his shop for seven, choosing a lower tempo route as opposed to the corporate atmosphere at Microsoft where he used to work. Amazing place! If you have a computer that doesn't work or you are looking to recycle a "non-working" one, this is the place. The owner can take computers or laptops that are headed to the recycler and try and repair them. If he is able to (after removing all sensitive data) he donates them to the battered women's shelter. How cool is that?!?! So if you are looking to recycle a computer or laptop, bring it here. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to extend my wireless connection to building 20 feet from the main house. After failing to get a traditional wireless extender to work I called Puget Sound Computer repair hoping they could help. James called me back first thing in the morning and shared a "powerline" solution that I had never heard of. He then proceeded to look-up the hardware that I needed and told me I could get it at Best Buy. He declined to charge me anything for his time and expertise. We've all been there right? You go to press your power button.. and nothing happens. You close and re-open the lid and try again.. nothing. Maybe next you remove your battery, blow on it like it's an 80's video game cartridge, and try again.. still nothing. Panic begins to set in. You're usually pretty good about doing a back up, but this time it's been a while. And now you've got hundreds of hours of work potentially about to go poof! Ahhhhhh! Now I know that everyone's situation is different, and not all mother boards make a recovery... But I can't speak enough to the level of service, and satisfaction I received through my experience with PSCR. Sean listened very patiently to me frantically explaining my situation, even though he had just closed up for the day (on a Friday no less). I went down Monday morning and handed my babies (two laptops) over to James. One of my laptop bodies was split in one corner, wires cut, fan broken.. and James was miraculously able to retrieve all of my documents/bookmarks(favs) off my hard drive. Hallelujah! Being that the broken laptop was beyond a price effective repair, we agreed to take my RAM and add it to my other laptop. He did a sprucing up on that one, got it purring like a kitten and transferred all my info over. And he did it all by the very next afternoon. Not sure if this had to do with a business slow down due to COVID, or if he's just really that quick.. But with only one day of downtime for work, it worked out amazing for me. And all for a SUPER reasonable price. I would use these guys again in a heartbeat! I am an Australian who's travelling in the US and I was recommended to Shawn and Christian at PSCR by a local. And I'm so glad because these guys saved my laptop! I was super impressed with their service, attention to detail, friendly natures and the way they went over and above to explain things to me and make sure that I had options in relation to a service on my laptop hard drive. Computers all over the place including the floor. Good chance your computer might get stepped on by an employee or customer. Office in disarray to the point where they have trouble finding stuff. They give you back the wrong parts to your computer. If you get your computer back when they tell you that you will then consider yourself lucky. I took my computer in a few weeks ago because I had an issue that was beyond my capabilities. Was told that it would be done NO LATER THAN TUESDAY. Tuesday came and no computer, no phone call, no text. Went to check on it and they were already closed. Went and got my computer back on Thursday two days later when I had time. He was not done with it and then found out later he didn't even give me the correct charger back. I had no computer for a week and then to have to go and get it without them calling me and then getting my stuff back and realizing I didn't even have the correct charger is pretty unprofessional. I usually don't deal with small business and this is the reason why and this is the reason why I probably won't ever again. read more
