Third time trying the chef's menu and it never disappoints!…read more 1. Tuna crudo with plum: fresh tart and sweet- wonderful 2. Pintxos platter: Castelvetrano olives lightly seasoned, mussels escabeche, sardines with pickled guindilla peppers, blistered shisito peppers and amazing bread- every bite was full of flavor and delicious! Interestingly shishitos were substituted for lookalike typical basque padron peppers- still great tasting roasted. 3. Salad with pickled grapes and manchego cheese- excellent- I could've eaten 3! 4. Swordfish à la Milanese with peach habanero sauce and charred sweet Gernika peppersa delicious and perfectly cooked but my least fav style of cooking an otherwise lovely swordfish steak. Not a fan of breaded entrees in general. I believe the leaves were roast mustard greens 5. Patatas bravas- perfectly crispy roasted and dressed with a romesco sauce and a creamy sauce 6. Basque cheesecake- is it my birthday? So so good! Perfectly orchestrated dinner! Delighted to introduce yet another friend to the wonders of basque cuisine. Parking at the garage on the next block was easy and the short walk after stuffing ourselves was more than welcome.

I started with the London Dry G&T, which was excellent--cold, crisp, and exactly what a gin and tonic should be. We shared a dozen raw oysters. They were fresh and delicious, though a little on the petite side. No complaints, though--they disappeared quickly enough. Then came the bread and butter. I realize writing a paragraph about bread and butter makes me sound like I've completely lost perspective, but here we are. The bread was fantastic, and the butter should probably have its own fan club. The charred cauliflower was the sleeper hit of the meal. If someone had told me beforehand that I'd be thinking about a cauliflower dish days later, I would have laughed. It was outrageously good. For dessert, we had the Basque cheesecake, which was rich, creamy, and completely worth saving room for. If there's a better way to end a meal, I'm not currently aware of it. The atmosphere was lively without being chaotic, and the service was friendly and relaxed. Overall, a great spot for a night out. The Kurt Vile concert was excellent, but I have to admit the cauliflower made a pretty strong case for being the headliner.

Regardless, I don't know where the cashier got the egg tarts or if they bake them in-house, but they are phenomenal. Cashier walked into the back room and came back with these warmed delicacies. What brought us in were their egg tarts. I've never been to Portugal, but I was happy to come in to have some savory croquettes and their egg tarts. Their portuguese egg tarts have the custardy flavor balanced by nice sweetness. We had a ham and cheese croquette and chicken croquette. The savory treats were breaded in bread crumbs and the ham and cheese tasted like it was filled with a cheesy bearnaise, while the chicken tasted like a crispy, chicken pot pie. This is a small store and it's a great place to find items for an authentic Portuguese meal. I would come again for these egg tarts, which has sweetness that's completely different than the Taiwanese variety I grew up with in the San Gabriel valley.

We sat at the bar and recieved great service. They also remember my brother from visiting so often. We tried the Piri Piri Chicken, it was half a chicken, perfect for sharing. The seasonal snap pea salad with tarragon and mint leaves was refreshing and a great start. They do run out of pastel de natas, I believe it was once only served on the weekend but now weekly, They offer ginja and green wine, and they def didn't forget the iconic tiles you see everywhere in portugal. Shrimp was my favorite !

I really wanted to love the place, but I won't be back. There are so many similiar options that has better food options. Happy hour includes $10 margaritas and tinis, I ordered a margarita first 10/10 and then a dirty martini . We were seated close to the bar and saw my glass was set aside with olive juice and the bartender just poured the vodka over it - not shaken, disappointed because their olives were delicious; 4/10 on the tini. The fries were one of my faves other than that if YOU live nearby yeah worth it for HH but not for a 2 hr dinner. It's such a cute restaurant; great decor and vibes. Parking is a bit difficult we parked 2 blocks away. Staff was attentive, food was served quickly. Try it for yourselves see what you think ‍

We came on a Sunday mid morning and since we had lunch plans later, we only snacked on a bit of the food. Service was super welcoming and inviting. It was like visiting a family member's or friend's home. Lady was super nice. Ambiance is very casual and you can tell that this is a community favorite too. Food came out quickly and was fresh. We got the: 1) Coxinha: -This is a popular Brazilian street food which is a deep fried croquette with chicken and cream cheese. -Delicious, light breading and the potato part is fluffy and the chicken is moist and all of the filling is plentiful and seasoned to perfection. We also got to try this with their home made chili sauce, nice delicious heat. Good stuff. 2) Pao de Queijo: -A MUST for my friend and I whenever I see them available. -Super yummy Brazilian cheese bread. I love the delicately light crisp from the exterior, slightly chewy dough, and of course the cheese inside. -Addicting and delicious snack. I can easily munch down several of these and the quality is good here too, especially since it's made fresh! We also got the bottled juices, imported in from Brazil. Mango and guava were like nectar juices, super yummy and the pistachio one was pretty unique. Our table also ordered the Brazilian lime alcoholic drink, but as a non drinker, I can't comment on this. Definitely would like to come back here again the next time we're in SD.

Pudim is the Portuguese term for condensed milk pudding served with caramel sauce. Spanish speaking countries call it flan. Quindim is a custard made with sugar, egg yolks, and ground coconut which is then presented as an upturned cup. Brigadeiro is a rolled mixture of condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder. Their version has a pudim filling topped with chocolate sprinkles. Individual servings were sold as kits of three units (mini) or six units (regular). Family size portions were exactly as they sounded... large and pricey (more than $30 each). You schedule a pickup time between 5 and 9 pm on Monday through Saturday. The lady (Paula) will come to the curbside to deliver the order to your vehicle. I bought a mini kit of traditional pudim that I consumed over one week. The flan was very smooth and creamy while the caramel added extra sweetness. The only drawback was the $21 price for three small cups.
