    Quality meats served table side
    Jasmine P.

We've frequented Fogo de Chão in Illinois as it is close to my family's house and they are even part of the rewards programs. Thus moving to San Diego and having in-laws here we thought we would expect the same level of service and quality at this Fogo de Chão location. We've been here a few times this year already; a couple times for special occasions as well: my birthday (Sunday brunch) and my mother in law's birthday (on a Saturday night). Here's what we saw: bad and SLOW service - the guy pouring water for our group seemed to get upset each time we would ask but we had been waiting for a long time, even already having our food and not having water. The meat service was very slow as well. For a while it seemed like no one came around. We had to ask the servers many times for the meat to come around. Some servers like Nathaniel seemed very friendly and he tried for some items but we still didn't get everything we requested. Maybe they were understaffed? (I'm still waiting for my bottom tri-tip and my husband still wanted more lamb). Some servers we straight rude like the water guy and another server that came up to our table to ask us if we wanted anything else but when we did ask about the status of a drink we already ordered he said "I don't know; I'm not your server." Parking is rough on a Saturday night. Park It on Market was completely full and not taking any other cars and street parking was limited to 2 hours. Parking was better on Sunday morning for brunch. The restaurant is not as big nor lavishly decorated as other locations like in Illinois. For a chain, you'd think the experience would be consistent and that is why I bring this up. This San Diego location is decorated more dark and dungeon-y (some call it ambiance but it made the restaurant look old and outdated) while other Fogo de Chão locations we've been to are bright, welcoming, airy, lots of light, and have ample parking. The San Diego location is also rather small and only one level. It feels cramped inside with no established paths for walking. You're always bumping into people getting to the salad bar or the bathroom. We had a few elderly with us and they had a hard time walking to the bathroom. A wheelchair would definitely have a hard time navigating through the restaurant. The salad buffet is smaller and there isn't such a lavish offering for Sunday brunch. We were very disappointed though we gave this San Diego Gaslamp location a few chances. It's a lot of money to spend to go to Fogo de Chão to get an experience less than what you were expecting of this chain. Hoping this location can step up its' game and/or they get a renovation.

My sister and I came to their bar area for drinks and food before our comedy show. Romeo helped us and gave amazing service! Funny, tentative, and made sure we were taking care of! We both had a the steak with chimmichuri a MUST try! Delicious! Drinks were great too! The restaurant area always has a wait but we love going to the bar area. Nice to relax and just enjoy the street on a Saturday night. Downside will ALWAYS be parking downtown. Better to find a parking lot and just walk.

My hubby enjoyed his birthday lunch at Fogo de Chão, located in downtown San Diego, CA. We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat meat carved table side and salad bar. We tried about 15 different meats that were seasoned well. For dessert, we enjoyed the creme brûlée and key lime pie with an espresso coffee. This Brazilian steakhouse location is our favorite in the area it never disappoints. The service is always excellent and the restaurant is nice and clean. Give it a try when visiting downtown San Diego. Happy Yelping :)

What a great experience at this restaurant. While I have been a Fogo rewards member and lover of the brand, the service at this place was on point and superb! From entering we were welcomed with a smile and all throughout the churrasco experience, the gauchos were attentive, engaging and friendly. Even when it was an hour before closing time that we showed up, the staff made us feel welcomed and appreciated. The food is always amazing and the meats hot and with all cooked terms. Salad bar pretty stacked and varied. Restaurant was pretty busy but we were in the quiet section that made for a mote pleasant conversation. Highly recommended.

If you want Fogo without hurting your wallet - go to the bar side of Fogo. No wait and service was attentive. For two people, we shared an order of Brazilian empanadas, the beef rib and filet mignon to share. This was enough food for us - and the best part was we got to enjoy the famous cheese balls here too! The cheese balls are complimentary and refillable :-) Super yum, less hassle and so much more economical! Awesome deal

The service is great! This is why they get 3 stars. Ive been here before a long time ago and other locations. Im not a big fan of the meat selections and its awfully bland, but the service is well worth the experience. This location has a nice wine room. Its nicely set up for such a small room. The tables in the restaurant are too close to each other. I suppose they are just trying to scoot as much customers as they can. The pricing is ok. Its a bit pricy for the quality of meat. 70$ per person for dinner and weekends for their lower package experience and 92$ for the upgraded. You get lobster here and bone marrow. You also have servers walking around serving cocktails at an additional charge for a more "enhanced" experience. You can also get empenada like appetizers for additional costs as well. The buffet line filled with salads, fruits, charcuterie is underwhelming. The corn chowder is watery, the asparagus is undercooked. I do have some qualms about the buffet selections. Also the plates were dirty. I picked up a plate and if my husband didn't point out it was stained completely with sauce, I would have used it! They have some good steaks like ribeye and some good cuts of lamb. It isn't gamy, but you can smell that it IS lamb. My issue is this: they kept coming around with top sirloin and bacon wrapped beef, but only ONE time with the ribeye. Even with the one time, we had to ask for it. Don't get me wrong, the servers and cutters came around often and were excellent in service, but the same cuts of meat were the ones that frequently showed up. I really cant say enough about the attentive service and how friendly and a pleasure the servers and managers and leads were. It was one of the best experiences I had with restaurant service. If it had not been the rare appearance of the ribeye, I would have enjoyed the food more. If the plates were clean at the buffet line, id be more generous in my score.

I went here for my husband and my anniversary. It was our first time and our server, Austin, was great at explaining how everything worked! We went with the $72/pp meal. All of the meats included were delicious. We had someone new presenting us with new meats almost every 5-10 minutes. Our plates were never empty. They also have an all day happy hour with a variety of drinks to choose from. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake - one of the best I've tried! I would definitely come back. Other workers that were notable were Gaby and Manuel. Thank for for a memorable evening

Celebrated my birthday dinner here and the food is always amazing. It feels upscale inside and the servers were really attentive. Do not miss the honey cheese, it is divine! If you don't see a meat or want something again just tell your server and they will get it for you Asap. Special mention for the garlic beef as well. Great Dinner!

I hate to even write this review because our servers were absolutely wonderful. Tracy, Gabriella, and Julian truly delivered excellent service. They were attentive, kind, professional, and genuinely warm. They were the highlight of our entire evening and did everything right. Also, Brian, at the bar was nice and also provided good service and drink recommendations. Unfortunately, aside from the service, this visit to Fogo de Chao downtown San Diego was a major disappointment. I took my daughter there for her 18th birthday so it was a special occasion. I was so bummed that she didn't get to experience the Fogo that I grew to love over the years. I've been to Fogo many times and have always enjoyed it but this experience just didn't live up to the standard I've come to know and expect. The quality and flavor of the meat were noticeably off this time. Nothing stood out and several cuts were lacking. It simply didn't taste like the Fogo I know. On top of that, it took forever for the meat to come around. Yes, it was busy but when you're paying this much you expect the skewers to keep coming. Plus it was a weekend so they should expect it to be busy and plan accordingly. We had to ask several times for meat to be brought to our table. It wasn't the waiters fault, there simply wasn't enough meat for all of the people that were there and it was taking a very long time for it to come out of the kitchen. Even after being there for quite a while and taking our time to enjoy dinner, we still didn't get to try everything because not all of the selections ever made it to our table. That alone was incredibly frustrating and unacceptable for the price point. The mashed potatoes were especially disappointing. They used to be one of my favorite sides but now they taste like boxed mashed potatoes, gritty, watered down, and honestly pretty gross. A huge downgrade from what they used to be. Why Fogo? Makes no sense. Even the overall vibe felt different. The restaurant just didn't have the same atmosphere or energy it once did. The ambiance felt off and we just weren't vibing the way we used to. It was also extremely loud in there and I couldn't hear the people at my table let alone the servers. There were three of us for dinner and our bill was well over $300. For that price you expect top tier food and a seamless dining experience. Unfortunately, Fogo no longer feels like you get what you pay for. Overall this was a major letdown. I'm really sad my daughter didn't have a great experience for her 18th birthday. The only saving grace was the incredible service from Tracy, Gabriella, and Julian, they truly deserve recognition. I really wish the food and overall experience had matched their level of excellence. I will no longer be suggesting Fogo as a dining option as I always have in the past. Save yourself the money and trouble. Would have given it a one star but Tracy, Gabriella, and Julian at least made the evening better.

food: full churrasco experience - meat options come around to your table strawberry hibiscus and red blend wine - both paired nicely with the meats and had a noticeable alcohol amount and presence, not overly sweet or mostly juice brazilian cheese bread/Pao de Queijo - fluffy inside, crispy outside, with a rich cheesy flavor mashed potatoes - very flavorful with a great texture, one of the best dessert (birthday complimentary) - vanilla ice cream with choice of caramel, strawberry, or chocolate drizzle; strawberry chocolate combination worked really well parmesan pork loin - juicy with a light parmesan flavor bacon wrapped meats - juicy with a noticeable bacon flavor that adds a savory kick sirloin - can be juicy depending on preferred doneness, carved to your liking garlic steak - very juicy and flavorful, standout favorite salad bar and sides - wide variety of items available to pair with the meats service: really sweet, conversational, and accommodating. staff regularly bring different meats to the table and adjust cuts based on your preference. they're attentive and thoughtful, especially with birthday dessert offering. ambiance: very busy and lively with lots of large groups with not many solo diners. it's very spacious and many tables but still busy so make a reservation! it has dim lighting with a more fancy atmosphere

Insane service and even better food! We came to celebrate a birthday and they made sure we had the best time. The servers were fabulous, engaging and attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered the seafood tower and waygu- both of which were spectacular!! We can't wait to go back!!

I came here with my friend for the Wine and Wagyu Bar Fogo event. This event was 49 dollars and includes quite a bit of food! The event included choice of three wines. I chose the rose, red blend eulila, & milla calla wines. There were some bar bites which included the queijo assado, Brazilian deviled eggs, Brazilian empanadas, and bacon wrapped chicken. They actually came back twice with the chicken! Of course the stars of the show were the Bone in beef ancho and the Wagyu Ancho. Hands down, the Wagyu was the best of all! You get a decent slice of beef to savor with the rest of your meal. Lastly, we had a creamy chocolate mousse to finish our meal! Thankfully we were able to take our leftovers home! This was a great deal, with so much variety. Much props to our waitress Andrea and our hostess Violet! They were so nice and accommodating!

Amazing food as always. Service was good but we had to chase down people for drink refills. Sorry no photos on this trip. Date night and didn't want to kill the vibe. The veggie bar was amazing. The only thing we did not car for was the potatoes salad. The potatoes were very hard. Like undercooked hard. But everything else was great!

I had been to SD twice before and wanted to check out somewhere I hadn't been. Enter Blue Water - the reviews and pics looks great, and the weather called for seafood, so I decided to head here and check it out. This Blue Water is located on India St in Mission Hills, though they have another location in Ocean Beach. Parking can be a little tricky, as there is no parking lot they are on a main road close to a split in a residential area. The interior is pretty spacious - the fish market is towards the front, and the ordering counter is in the back. Seating is spread out between the main area where the market is, a side room, and outdoors in the front. Decor and aesthetics are casual - very seafood restaurant-esque with straightforward design. The foot traffic set up so you order first and then find a table before they serve your meal to you. The menu is extensive - they have a large selection of fish that can be prepared several ways. It's a little overwhelming to take in, but there was no pressure for us to order; if there's a line all the more time to explore. I ultimately decided to get their mini shrimp tacos - these were served on a corn tortilla and topped with cabbage, tomatoes, onions, white sauce, and cheddar cheese with a side of tomatillo sauce. The tacos were great - super fresh, they didn't skimp on the shrimp, and all the flavors and textures worked really well together. I also ordered a cup of NE clam chowder which was good - not the best one I've had but for being in Southern California it held its own. Service was good - I'm seeing reviews of long lines but I think I came at the right time; there are barely a line to order and my meal was served shortly after that. Overall, Blue Water is a yes - I had a great experience here and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

The worst part is, it wasn't even polite when they asked us. All the employees were giving us attitude for something they didn't tell us when we arrived, nor when they gave us the high chair. They want all four of us to stand in line instead of sitting at the empty tables. They seriously need training on customer service, at least to show empathy, sincerity and apologize to customers. I guess they don't care because we're Asian and believe they don't need our business here.

The restaurant itself is lovely, so classy. The ocean view was amazing. My waiter was very kind and attentive throughout the night. French Onion Soup: it had great flavors and i liked that they used gruyère unlike some places being cheap lol. The broth and onions were tasty but I wish the bread wasn't as mushy. I have had french onion soup where the bread is still crisp after being broiled. That's me being nit-picky! 4.5/5 Oysters: tasty, good side accompaniments! Some shell in there but i understand it's hard to shuck sometimes. 4.5/5 mocktails: for someone who doesn't care for alcohol the fake alcohol was a little too convincing but for someone who couldn't drink, they're great and pretty! desserts: both really well done and the raspberry or strawberry streak of sauce is very good. The key lime pie stole the show and that was a to go! but still great desserts. 5/5

Despite the restaurant being busy, we never felt any lag in service at all. The seafood? I'll start with the good. My brother enjoyed his sea bass, and my dad enjoyed his Alaskan cod. Both thought the portions were a little small for the price, but they liked their meals. The cioppino, on the other hand, was probably one of the worst I've ever had. The broth was oddly sour, and nearly all of the shellfish was overcooked. I almost spit the calamari out. It was that bad. The shrimp was good, and the chunks of fish were decent, but overall this dish was a huge miss. At almost $50, it's hard to justify. They either need to go back to the drawing board or take it off the menu. The standout was the daily cherry sorbet. WOW. Easily some of the best sorbet I've ever had. One random thing: whatever linen they use sheds everywhere. I loved how soft it felt until I walked outside and realized I was covered in lint. Would I come back? No. That said, it was still a lovely dinner with family. The ambiance was nice, and the service was genuinely exceptional. If you're coming for the hospitality, you'll probably leave happy. If you're coming for the cioppino, I'd strongly recommend ordering something else.

Fresh seafood, great prices, and fast services!…read more On our recent visit to San Diego, Mitch's came highly recommended and we made it one of our "must-try" restaurant. The restaurant is located near the water and is highly popular among tourists and locals. There is a decent size paid parking lot at the back, but finding a spot may be tough. Taking Uber may be a better option. When we arrived, the restaurant had a line but was moving quickly. The menu was written on the board and customers ordered at the counter. Water was self served and waiters would bring out your food when ready. Both indoor and outdoor dining areas were available. For dinner, I had the seafood stew for $31, which had ample seafood in a flavorful tomato based broth. A warm baguette was served on the side. My husband had the fish and chips for $14. He said the fried fish was slightly soggy, but he enjoyed his meal. Overall, the restaurant felt authentic and the food was of solid quality. The prices here are unbeatable with the fresh ingredients and serving sizes. Can't wait to return to try other dishes. Highly recommend!

My wife ordered the Steamers plus a wine whilst I got the Seafood Platter and a beer. It came to $72.45 plus tip. The ordering process is to order at the counter and then find a seat. Your food is then delivered to your 'table'. There are 3 tables, three booths and a plethora of counter-type seats, which is what we chose, for the view of the harbor. Our meal came in about 10-12 mins. The steamers came with a garlicky, oniony white wine broth and a 5" chunk of a baguette. I only tasted the broth but it was excellent. My platter came loaded with fries, lots of fried calamari, a 4-ounce portion of fish, three very large breaded shrimp and a huge crab cake. There were no negative takes on my meal and the highlights were the fish and crab cake. The fish was lightly battered and was perfectly cooked. The crab cake had a great crust on each side and was 1 1/2" thick, with great crab flavor. There's a big chance we will be returning next year.

Downside on that is they come out with limited amount of half lobster and often times lines are long. Limit one per person everytime you get in line. The lobster was not fresh today and texture was very mushy. I will not be coming back for lobster night. Service was nice and friendly. Waitress refilled our drinking and removed empty places consistently. They have spacious seating areas and the atmosphere is very inviting and vibrant. We came on a thursday night with 7 people and did not have to wait longer then 5 minutes. Plenty of seating. They have a huge parking lots with plenty of parking.

You'll have to park about a quarter mile away and potentially in a neighborhood because there is no parking on the street where Pete's is. I was sold on the crab roll as I'm not a really big fan of lobster. We also opted for the fish and shrimp. The crab roll is a stand out on its own. It had very great flavor and was fresh. I didn't mind the thick piece of bread that it came on, but I found myself just eating the crab itself. The fish and shrimp were actually quite nice and fresh. The shrimp was better than the fish in terms of seasoning. The fish was in desperate need of any type of seasoning. It was extremely plain. A dash of salt, or your favorite dipping sauce perhaps. I did find it interesting that the fish and shrimp plate did not come with a lemon. The fries were not too bad and reminded me a bit of In-N-Out fries when they've been in the bag for five minutes longer than they should and become soggy. They aren't bad, just would have preferred them to be crispier. The patio is covered and although it's small and the tables can feel close to each other the area still nice. For these two dishes, we spent $58.

They do not skimp on portions, and every bite was loaded with fresh, flavorful lobster. We also ordered the fried scallops, and they were incredible--perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The fish and chips absolutely slapped too. Fresh fish, great crunch, and done exactly right. What impressed me most was the value. Seafood isn't cheap, but the portions and quality here make every dollar worth it. You leave feeling like you got your money's worth and then some. If you're in North Park and love seafood, Pete Seafood is a must-try. Great food, generous portions, and overall an amazing experience. I'll definitely be back.
