PSK ran a photo contest on Facebook, so I entered and ended up winning the free mini photoshoot. I worked with Minh and Wendy through email to set the date and place, settling on a photoshoot with my sister and dog. We met up with them at their office to talk about their work and about us, since they emphasize capturing our story. I really appreciated this since it opened the door for transparency and made us very comfortable. The entire outdoor photoshoot became very natural and fun. Even though our dog usually causes us trouble, he was well behaved and Minh did an excellent job capturing beautiful photographs in different settings. Wendy was there to help us through the poses (since we've never done a professional shoot before) and made the experience pleasant and relaxed. About a week after, Minh let us know when the photos had been edited and polished so we got to look at them before we chose one to be printed. I am not good at taking pictures. Smiling normally comes easy to me, but put a camera in front of me and tell me to "smile!" and my face muscles suddenly stiffen up and my eyes become lopsided and for some reason a vein in my forehead starts pulsing and it's game over for my dreams of becoming a ridiculously good-looking male model. I learned to consider other careers early in life. Which is why I was a little nervous when Wendy offered me a free photoshoot. She's a good friend of mine and it was a fun idea, but I didn't know if I could pull it off. What makes Wendy and Minh so great though is their creativity to bring the best out of everyone they work with, and their patience as they figure out how to make it work (particularly when a certain person they're shooting doesn't know what to do with their hands). I posed for both indoor and outdoor shots, and was pleasantly surprised when I received the final product(s) a few months later. The pictures looked great! They exceeded my expectations in every way, and when my family saw the pictures on Facebook they even wanted to order physical prints to display in their homes! So Wendy and Minh do great work. My organization was looking for a photographer for a conference that we were putting on and we were connected with Minh through a colleague. Minh was great to work with!
