Stopped here before heading home after a beach day with the dogs because my friend was craving fish and chips. She ordered the salmon and chips with clam chowder, and I got the prawns and chips with clam chowder. The clam chowder was honestly really good -- flavorful, not overly thick, and packed with a good amount of clams. Definitely tasted much better than canned chowder considering this was my first time actually having it not in a can. The prawns and chips were also solid. The prawns weren't heavily battered, and the fries were crispy on the outside while still soft inside. Portions for both the chowder and entrées felt generous for the price. Service was friendly and quick. We were seated within about 5 minutes, had a little time to look over the menu, and our server came by shortly after. He gave a great recommendation for my friend's meal as well. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Saturday evening, but we got there right before the bigger dinner rush. Indoor seating filled up quickly, while the outdoor area was quieter because of the wind. We were in Lincoln City for a couple of nights and originally planned to grab a bite at McMenamins Lighthouse Brewpub--but after being completely ignored at the door, we decided to try a spot in the same parking lot instead. That turned out to be a great decision. The place was busy, but we were greeted right away with genuine enthusiasm and told the wait would be about five minutes--which was spot on. Once seated, we ordered a couple of specials: the battered coho with chips and the albacore tuna and chips. Both were outstanding. The batter was light and crisp with just the right crunch, and the fish inside was flaky, moist, and full of flavor. We usually end up taking some home, but not this time--we cleaned our plates. The two gentlemen working the front were clearly hustling, yet still managed to be friendly, attentive, and engaging throughout. If six stars were an option, we'd give them. Perfection! Seriously. Who'd have thought this somewhat diner-looking, views of the parking lot, black mats on the floor kind of place would have such great food, jazzy-blues-boogie music. The Pub in Lincoln City was a fun and tasty choice!!! The portions were very generous; there was enough to satisfy two hungry adults with one 4-piece, hot out of the fryer halibut and batter-dipped French fries, and two full-to-the -brim bowls of piping hot chowder. (We could have split one, btw!) The chowder was thicker than I prefer, but it was very tasty and chock full of chunks of clams. And did I say hot?!? Had there been any room in the bowl, I could have added a bit of cold milk to thin it out, and it still would have been plenty hot. And the fish? The fish was moist, tender and meaty, with batter that was the closer to perfection maybe I've ever had: not oily or soggy, it had a delightful crunch to every bite! The fries were also delightful, with a very light batter which added that crunch with soft potato inside). The basket came with a tiny portion of good, not overly dressed coleslaw, fresh lemon slices, and plenty of good tartar sauce. I bet their onion rings would be fantastic- if they have them. (I just asked Dave and he said they do and that he loves them, "... but a half basket is plenty. Don't be enticed by the full basket!" Next time!!! They have an extensive choice of beer on tap, a full bar, and a large list of "Boozy Milkshakes"- which Dave said are fantastic milkshakes with a lot of booze. My hubby was interested, but passed (this time, lol). Dave, our server, was a character in a very good way, making suggestions on ordering, chatting just a bit but not excessively. Funny. This place came highly recommended from a co-worker so we gave them a try. My friend suggested to try the specials because they are usually really good. I had the salmon fish and chips and the YS had the tuna. Both selections were very fresh fish served with fries. The server tried to sell us on the wine special for $18.95 priced down from $35. Which I couldn't help but laugh out loud because I knew the local store had it on sale for 3.95. We stuck with iced tea. The ambiance was fine. We have been to Lincoln City many times over the years. We had never visited Pub before, though. This was our first meal on this trip and it was a wonderful experience. We both had the halibut 3-piece basket. They serve both fries and slaw with their baskets which is unusual and welcome. The halibut was cooked perfectly. The batter looked as though it was going to be "heavy" but it was just right for our tastes. Not too greasy, also. The two young men serving when we were there were polite and friendly. Our orders were carried to us very soon after we had given them. It is next to impossible for me to rate a restaurant a 5 star so please consider this rating a very strong 4. Literally do yourself a favor and grab some fresh and small biz/local fish & chips from Pub Fish & Chips when you're out exploring on the coast. You won't regret it. Stopped by after a quick yelp search told me that Pub F&C was the place to go for some chill, no-frills fish and chippy. They have indoor and outdoor seating and tons of parking as it's located in a shared plaza with other restaurants. I saw a variety of diners from solo's to families and couples. They have local beers on tap, a sweet man who runs the entire front of the house, and lovely people who work in the kitchen whipping up the most delicious yums. I came with my dog after a day of exploring the coast, and was so happy that we could sit outside and enjoy the warm sunset with a nice cool beer and chips. Their fries are perfectly made and enjoyed with their seasonal special which was the halibut and that was SUCH a great choice. I'm not a big fan of cod, and I loved the texture of the batter which was crispy and on the lighter side. I literally licked the entire plate clean, and left with such a full belly! I am starting off with saying next time I come to the beach, I will be giving them another try to see if my issues were normal or a fluke. My husband and I ordered the 4 piece cod meal. When it came out the pieces were hot and a beautiful golden color. When we cut into them, obviously there was some empty space by not terrible. The fish was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. The downfall is how much grease was under the fish. It ended up soaking up the paper. My husband ended up not eating the breading due to it. The fries were good flavor and crispy but soooooo salty! Also the smaller handful I've ever seen. The tartar sauce was good but nothing to rave about out and the slaw was warm and had an off taste.
