Very divey bar and honestly gets a higher rating as just a bar but I'm rating the food as well! My partner got wings and I got a burger and tots. It was fine - the patty was definitely frozen and the bread smelled kind of off but the kicker was that the tots were pretty bad. Flavorless and tasted a bit like old oil. My partner said his wings were pretty good and the bartender was really friendly and could tell she was being really clean about making the food. I'd go again for the dive bar vibes just maybe not for dinner! read more

Forget what the previous Yelp reviews say. The posted menu is not correct. We ate dinner tonight, and the menu was posted on a board on the wall. We ordered beers, a cup of the soup of the day, and split a cheeseburger and tater tots. OMG - the soup was incredibly good (African chicken curry) - delicious! Several good beer choices. By the name, It's not what you think. Locals bar. Strictly locals bar. Nothing really underground. You get to see whales from sitting outside, because there is really nothing else to see. Another great local "discovery" awaited us here, just off the main drag in downtown Yachats!! We arrived a bit later in the evening (maybe 8-8:30) but still managed to find friendly service and excellent bar/comfort food in a warm, inviting bar and grille. Looks like they have some pretty good live, local talent here some nights, and it might get pretty busy/crowded, I guess, but other than one large table of buddies up front by the entrance, we just about had the place to ourselves. Tempting menu, I chose one of their salads and a bowl of my new BFF, the always yummy (and diet-busting!) clam chowder, along with a locally brewed Porter. Kind of a back alley bar. I enjoyed it, but at 1pm the kitchen was closed and the bartender couldn't get milk etc from the locked fridge for a persons coffee. not a big deal imo. Came here with some of our friends that are visiting from Canada. We were just looking to get some beers and food and after waiting for a while at the bar, the female bartender came up to us and immediately told us that we would have to do one check because "you're adults and you know how to Venmo". We sat there in disbelief for a few seconds processing what she had just said to us in the rudest tone of voice. We would have gladly done one check, but she was extremely condescending and off-putting. She claimed that no other establishment in town would give us separate checks... yet we walked over to the seanote and they gladly served us with separate checks. I really hope this bartender can understand that you do not greet customers with such a condescending and rude tone from the get-go. Glad we took our business elsewhere. read more

Well it definatley is a Bar. Seating was available outside so I was thankful for that. Obviously with a bar you are going to get bar service and not a restaraunt style service, all though they were nice. Do not go if you are a bigger group like we were. Now to the food... Our appetizers came at the end of our meal and the wings and poppers were fine. The Philly cheesecake sandwiches came out cold and looked like just deli roast beef meat heated up. The salad well was just a salad afterall along with the hot dog. The only real good thing was the pub club sandwich. read more

As a local, I love this local hole in the wall. It's always there when I need it for grabbing a decent sandwich while I catch up with my homies. The food here has been touch and go in the past but not anymore. I like to order the turkey/bacon sammie with all the accouterments and it's loaded with goodies. You also get a choice of sides and that includes OVEN baked fries. (They just taste better without all the oil) I have to say though that I love their coleslaw and it's not just a little side of it either. It's very laid back of course during the winter and then gets a little more wild once we get all the folks that wish they were local in the summer. ;) That also just adds color for us and makes it even more fun to chat up folks from all over the world. There's music every Thursday and in the summer time we get music on the weekends as well. We pass around the tip jar to help cover their entertainment but there's no official collection. This is not a big place but they've got picnic tables out front (yes your dog can sit out there) and in summer they have another outside section they sometimes open up when they've got outside live music. Inside there's also a small room that has 1 pool table with a few video poker games and 1 pinball game. The bigger room has your full bar and a few tables around it. All in all I'm glad they are here because they know my name when I walk in the door. read more

Back in late 2013 I was having a conversation with a Yachats-ite (Yachatsian?) fellow who was near teary eyed with joy at the fact that the only gas station in Yachats had closed. I gathered from him that it was just too ... uh .. "corporate" to have a gas station in town. For Yachats to have a throwback dive bar like Underground is a breath of patchouli oil-free air. You can play the lottery, you can swill down any number of alcoholic beverages, and on Thursday night you can get your ears assaulted via an open microphone. Goodness gracious you can even get your jalapeno stuffed if you're that kind of person. It's a darned convivial (4 syllables words discouraged) spot and absolutely lacking pretense. The bathrooms are ... uh ... interesting. Stick to "pub food" offerings and strike up a conversation. Oh, and if you see my teary-eyed pal ask him where he fills the tank of his Forester. read more

We placed an order for take away, called in at 8:39pm. The woman that answered the phone quoted about 20 minutes. Since we are staying across the street, we gave it 15 minutes before walking over. We ordered the Smoking Turkey sandwich and jalapeño poppers halves; we requested extra ranch for our oven-baked fries. When we walked into the building (8:58pm), the woman at the bar told us it wasn't ready yet, but allowed us to pay. Previous reviews labeled the place as "loud and divey", they aren't remotely wrong. We sat and waited, watched as other people got their food. We sat and waited, listened as bar patrons laughed loudly, spilling drinks on each other, and using bar towels to wipe their beer-saturated clothes before handing the same towel back to the barkeep to continue using on the counter. We sat and waited, my elbow slipping into food I didn't see from the previous patron, not yet wiped off the table; a maraschino cherry stem stuck to the menu that was never collected. We sat and waited, while the barkeep chatted another woman at the bar about how long our food was taking "I quoted them 20, it's been over 40", neither offered an apology. We sat and waited until 9:32pm before our food was hastily handed to us. We said thank you and walked back to our Airbnb. Five minutes later, we sat down to eat, the disappointment behind us was nothing compared to what waited for us. Shriveled jalapeños with curdled cheese resting on top. A turkey sandwich made with store purchased lunch meat, served open-face to hide the 10 disgusting, little fries we were given, and three sides of ranch. We were also gifted a random mini bag of Fritos; uncertain as to why. We speculated one of the two options: 1) an apology for the outrageous wait time, 2) to make up for the scant, sickly serving of fries. Photos attached. This place is awful. A joke. A waste of money. When I first saw the space that is now the Yachats Underground, it was a wine tasting place with soft lighting and real table cloths and fine China. I refused to even go into the joint because I don't belong in those places. The Yachats Underground is a pub, with a mobster motif. The entrees are named after mobsters and the drinks are named after mobsters, and there are pictures of mobsters on the wall. They've painted a safe - like the safe at a Federal Reserve bank - on the wall. There are Tommy Guns hanging from the ceiling. This place calls to me. I'm a low-brow. We ordered drinks and Oysters. We ordered a big artichoke with garlic. The artichoke was good, but oysters and fries, were a bit greasy for my tastes. The service was friendly. The music was jazz. This longtime customer will not be back. Used to own a house in town, went here weekly for burgers. Now return annually, and last time food had suffered. We wanted to give it another shot so we arrived for lunch at Noon, sign said they didn't open until 1pm. We parked and decided to walk the dog, then come back at 1 to eat. When we returned we found a Kia Soul blocking our vehicle, driven by an irate man who demanded $20 for parking on his private party. My husband explained that we had intended to eat there and his reply was, "Do whatever you want but your car isn't moving until you pay the $20." A charitable view is that things are not going well there and the owner is frustrated. Sadly, we will never return to this pub and perhaps not even the town. "We don't do small pours here." The view will knock your socks off and they have a mighty pour: hence the 4Their wine selection is basic and you won't find pricy Willamette Pinots, but they offer a friendly, clean pub with an outta sight view. Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Feels like we are locals and we loved the fish and chips nice and crispy. Fries are soggy and Don't order the bowl chowder unless you want to pay out the nose for it. $9.00 and though it tasted good it had very little clams bacon and potatoes in it. Staff was friendly, atmosphere was fun! Club Pub is the sandwich to go for here. It's pretty much the size of your head and delicious. Fresh too! Down side is wait time as it's a two man show. One cook one waiter/bartender. Waitress mentioned that there was a funeral in town which might have made it understaffed. Salad was pretty poor with slices of cheese and very underwhelming. Fries we ordered on the side were baked, usually not a bad thing, but these were finished and came pretty much cold with a smaller portion. Tried the pub tonight and we are so glad we did. The people we met were very friendly and asked us about ourselves as we did about them. Made us feel welcome and at home. Very kewl views of the river flowing into the ocean! Pet friendly also! The food was outstanding. My wife had French dip and I had the pub club-both were very well cooked with great presentation. The club sandwich was too big to bite and as my wife says I have a big mouth. Her dip was tender and very tasty. Ali, the server checked on us at least 10 times while we were there. Now THIS is a great local dive bar! Incredibly friendly bartender and everyone seated at the bar knew each other... these bar flies are FAMILY! TVs on football for Sunday afternoon and the Screwdrivers, Beers and Bloody Marys (compete with asparagus spear) were flowing. I wish the bartender had a server on because when the place was full at noon it seemed she was stretched a bit thin. Boyfriend tried the clam chowder and salad and it was plenty for lunch, and tasty, too! Food prices may seem a bit steep but the drink prices are outrageously inexpensive, so to me, that takes priority!!! Walked around to almost every joint in Yachats and decided to post up at this place. It's small but there's outdoor seating. We were able to get a table outside for four immediately. The food was great. Not just great 'bar food' but great in general. The club Sammie is the size of a Chevy Suburban. (I'm also eating the other half for brekkie as I fire off this review)In fact they should rename it the Suburban XL! 4 meals, 6 draft craft beers, umpteen Bacardi and diets and less than 100.00! This little blip (Yachats) on the map is pretty well known for their food. However if I came thru this way again I would just end up here. Go with what you know amirite?? read more
