A functional rest area for visitors traveling northbound on Interstate 95 through South Carolina South Carolina has nine welcome centers along interstate 95 running through the state for the public's traveling convenience. This particular one is located on the east side of the interstate. It is located in Hendersonville, just north of Yemassee near mile marker 47. There are plenty of parking lots. The car lots are closest to the road. The truck lots are the farthest from the road and on the other side of the main building. The building has bathrooms on both sides of the closed atrium. They are not fancy but they are functional. Preparing this review after my visit, I found some troubling reviews about the ceilings on the bathrooms being reflective that I would suggest all travelers review before visiting. The building and the surrounding areas were clean and well-kept although some of the restrooms were closed for cleaning or maintenance. The area around the building is spotted with trees but is mostly flat with some covered pavilions with picnic tables. There is a separate building for vending. Overall, this rest area is a functional place for visitors to stop for a break on their travel northbound.

Like most other rest areas in South Carolina, the facilities were dated, but clean and efficient. It got the job done. At the time of writing this, on Google Maps, this rest area is listed as: - Hendersonville Rest Area Northbound - Hendersonville Rest Area Southbound - I 95 South Mile 47 Reststop The rest area is located in Colleton County. It has a Yemassee address, but is closer to the unincorporated community of Hendersonville. The town of Yemassee is in Beaufort and Hampton counties. The closest city to this rest area is Walterboro (exits 53 and 57), north. If traveling south on I-95, this is the last rest area before the welcome center in Hardeeville at mile marker 4.3. The Hardeeville welcome center is more recently renovated and way nicer than this rest area -- good info to know if planning your stops. According to the SCDOT, South Carolina has nine welcome centers and 19 rest areas. Since Yemassee is a small town and no search results came up for coffee, I decided to pop in at Marathon before heading out. Our visit was very quick, probably a total of 3 minutes. All I wanted was some coffee for the drive back and it was starting to get gloomy. I grabbed one of the bottled Starbucks coffees and went right to the cash. Some of the features of this station is that there is a Subway to the left, inside the station and they also serve TCBY frozen yogurt. They also sell boxed Krispy Kreme donuts. They have quite a few pumps outside and I don't think large trucks can enter here. I think I remember seeing a sign. They seemed to have all the concessions a regular gas station would, but I didn't pay too much attention, since like I mentioned, I was on a mission to get coffee and get back on the road as fast as we could. Service was fine and quick. I got what I needed and managed to load the kids back up before it started to pour buckets. Decent place to get snacks and drinks for the road, since Yemassee is a real small town and it seems that a big portion of the town is closed on Mondays.

I was surprised when Marathon employee Ms. Reed found me via Facebook messenger to let me k ow my card was found. I so appreciate Ms. Reed took to find me!
