I have tried working with the company for a reduced rate and they won't lower the bill after being with them for years. I was told the only way to reduce the rental fee is to move my contents to another unit. I understand this is their company and they can have whatever policies they want. I really want to make any future long term renter aware there are much cheaper options in the surrounding area, especially if won't visit your unit frequently. When talking to the guy working, his response was he can get the guy to move the truck up in the space( which he did a few inches and didn't help), try to switch with the neighbor but no answer or leave the premises with our boat. We paid for a 27 foot spot but it was really 23/24 feet.. but according to the guy working there, it was our fault to not test out the spot first to see if it fit. The guy reported the truck guy didn't want to move his truck and bc he has been there a whiland the working guy said nothing he could do about it but leave the facility. So we had to find a spot, at 7 pm, to be able to place our boat. Extremely disappointed in the staff and situation. I would not recommend this place at all. Here is a summary of my experience. * The initial monthly rate for a 10x15 storage unit (2nd floor and away from the elevator) was $298.92 (January 2022). The rate when I terminated my contract - November 15, 2025 - was $435.00. CubeSmart increases their rates on a yearly basis and the increases are significant and non-negotiable. * During the recent Federal government shutdown, I contacted CubeSmart to request a deferment of a payment and they refused to cooperate. I spoke with the manager of the location where my unit was located; as well as customer service (several times); and a District Manager by the name of Michael Jones. * Payment for my unit was due on November 8th. Despite my request for the company to defer the payment due until the Federal government shutdown was resolved, I received a notice on November 14, indicating that my payment was late; a late fee had been applied to my account; my entry code was disabled and my unit was locked until I made full the payment due, in full. I terminated my contract and emptied my storage unit on November 14th and moved my belongings to one of CubeSmart's competitors. CubeSmart lost me as customer who was in good standing because they were so unbelievably unfriendly and unwilling to negotiate deferment of one monthly payment.

However, ownership apologized and as I was buying a lock & key for the unit, they covered the cost on the house. Thank you! * I did have a rate hike, but it was only about $10/month.
