From inquiry to moving my stuff, maintaining it and then moving everything out- Araceli and Giovanna made my public storage experience INCREDIBLE. If you'd considering renting from them, DO IT! They were extremely personable, attentive, kind, helpful and the price was very reasonable. I always felt like my stuff was extremely secure and I am grateful to know if I ever need another storage unit, I know who to call!!

This Public Storage located at 2065 at Placentia Street in Costa Mesa is ran by a very rude lady named Giovanna. We buy storage units and clean them out for the storage unit place and take everything away. Then we make sure the storage locker is nice and clean. This particular location started off with a lady named Sonia who wasn't sure how to arrange the gates and doors for our access. So yesterday we lost most of the day and hours we could have had starting the removal and cleanup process. We called the office to get help but no one was there so we left a voicemail about what happened and if they could arrange extended time for us in the locker. This was very frustrating as to we only get 48 hours to clear out and clean out. First thing this morning we told the manager lady Giovanna about it and expressed how frustrated this was for us. She just got defensive and very much rude and said that we better be off her property at 5:00pm. So we said okay and started doing our best to get everything out of the locker. We ended up hiring a haul away company costing us $500. We had no other choice to work as fast and hard as we possibly could. So we continued working as hard and fast as as we all could. Then all of a sudden this young lady Giovanna came yelling at us to get everything back in the unit and get off her property. Saying she is off the clock and shouldn't be having to walk over and telling us to leave the property. Yelling at us that she's going to call the cops going on and on. I asked her if she could please talk to us like we are human beings. She then looked at me and started laughing. It was very immature the way she was laughing and texting on her phone and saying I should call the cops. After we got all of the stuff loaded up in the trucks and everything she decided to not let us out of the facility, after all of the threatening, go figure. She said it's after hours try calling the 800 number giggling. We repeatedly tried to call and got nowhere so we then ended up calling the local police. They told us that they would be there as soon as they could to let us out. So we waited a hour and our hauling guys started getting frustrated and saying that they were going to charge us more than the $500 we paid them. So now we are all feeling frustrated and trapped all because Public Storage 2065 Placentia Manger Giovanna has a power trip and won't push a simple button and disappears in her public storage house. Once the police arrive he was apologetic for this situation we were in. All of this because we lost track of time helping them by cleaning out the locker and her storming at us yelling and laughing. So any online auction buyers beware of this storage facility. Besides after the treatment we received here I feel like they should just clear and clean up themselves. They also have a massive amount of termites coming out of units, so beware as a regular tenant here as well. They don't upkeep the place or call their tenants out on much of anything, as there was a mattress and bed frame in an elevator blocking everyone and someone today left their trash on the outside row. What a well run place, not!

All storage owners beware!!! Do not frequent this storage facility if you care about your personal belongings. Our designer carpets were stored at Public Storage @ 2065 Placentia Ave and they got destroyed due to the poor maintenance of their facilities. In talking to their regional manager Lorraine Evans she accepted no ownership and refused using their liability insurance to cover for the neglect of their premises and the total destruction of our carpets which got totally ruined because we picked up termites at their storage facility. If you have personal belongings you care for don't bring them here at PUBLIC STORAGE STAY AWAY!!!

DON'T USE THIS STORAGE PLACE!!!!!! My unit was just broken into and several items were stolen. I did have insurance that they require you buy but by the time you pay the deductible, file the police report, talk to everyone you need to, file the claim online, it's just not worth the time and effort. I waited for an hour during my lunch break at the unit to file a police report and finally had to leave to go back to work. The police department couldn't give me an eta of when they would arrive. You also have to have receipts for the stolen items. I'm 42 years old and many of the items they stole were gifts from when I was a child (lladros, precious moments etc). How in the heck would I have receipts for all of that? The robbers actually just took the entire lock off the wall! This was 100% the fault of public storage for not keeping this secure. I wouldn't have noticed this in advance but does this look secure to you????? My stuff was only there a few weeks (less than a month). And they do not have cameras.

Never had any problems until the past week. I was in building 5 unit 579A…read more 6-26-24 I got a call from the property manager, Jasmine. I was notified that my storage unit "was tampered with and it looks like they weren't able to get in". At the end of the call she stated that she needed a key on file to work on getting the door fixed. I came in and talked to Jasmine and again insisted to have the key on file. Before I gave my key, I went to my unit just to check it out. I asked if there were any other units that were tampered with and she said that mine was the only one. I thought that was quite strange I went to my unit and I saw my unit was tampered with (they tried to pry the door open). I opened my unit and I saw everything was rummaged through. My bike and my camera were stolen. I was quite furious from what I saw and what was taken so I just locked up and went back to the front desk. I told Jasmine that my unit was broken in. I asked if I could see any video footage but I wasn't covered or insured so there's nothing I or A1 Storage could really do about it and that I would need to file a police report. There was not much sympathy but didn't think too much about it. I asked about when they would fix the door and she said it will be sometime within the week. Before I gave my key, I went back to my unit and took other valuables that they missed. I also put everything back and organized what was went through, locked up and went back to the office to hand Jasmine my key. I told her that the thing that was off was how they were able to lock the door with the metal shaft bent and my locks still in place 6-30-24 I came back around 6pm with my mom to my storage unit check my unit again just to take what other things that I could gather. After opening it up, my unit was rummaged through again. The door, lock/shaft looked to be the same as it was. It just boggled my mind how they were able to put it back without unlocking it. At this time I didn't want to assume but I was thinking maybe it was an inside job since they had my key and that I was told mine was the only one that was broken into. I was curious so I walked down neighboring units and I noticed a handful of units had their metal shafts cut open. My mom was worried for me so that's when I decided to just move out. Since it was already late, I thought to just do that the next day 7-1-24 I went into the office around 9am. The front door was closed and I called the number that was left on the door since it said they are on the property. Jasmine picked up and said that she'll be at the front desk shortly. She came in and she asked if I was the one that just called and showed me the red tag (tampered units). Seems like she remembers me from the week prior. I told her that my unit was broken into again. Again, no sympathy whatsoever, but I didn't need it. I then told her that there were 4 to 6 units that were broken into with the shafts cut. She looked frantic about the whole situation but who wouldn't if you're the only one managing the place. I asked if I could move out today and not be charged for the next month's rent since it is the 1st day of the month. She said I'm more than welcome to if I don't feel safe here. I was going to rate this place 0 stars but I thought granting me this deserved at least 1 star I started gathering my things and saw Jasmine, herself, working on replacing the shafts on the broken-into units. Made me wonder if she also calls the customers saying it looked like your door was tampered with but weren't able to get in I came across like 3 other people the day I moved out. I mentioned to them to be careful with the recent break-ins. I was glad I told them about it because they should know. However, Jasmine confronted me and asked me if I'm telling customers about the break-ins to not to do that because "it makes us look bad". Well, maybe they should have done a better job at securing the place. Btw, they should have door locks at the entry door of each building. I highly recommend to consider looking elsewhere

We picked InStorage because the location was ideal, they had an appealing promo going on offering 3…read moremonths at 50% off, and they guaranteed free used of their moving van upon moving in. While the location was perfect and the general facility was nice and appeared safe, working with the staff onsite was a hassle from the moment we moved in. Upon arrival they "lost" our reservation in the system, blaming it on some confusion between two reservations booked for the same day, one Carol and one Carolyn. Additionally, we were told we could not use the moving truck we were promised because it was stolen, a lie confirmed later by the manager. We spent half our moving day trying to locate a Uhaul last minute because of this mistake. For the most part our time renting unit was a good experience, with the exception of issues we had paying online. The website had glitches every month. Additionally, if you use the three months free deal, make sure you move in on the 1st. They applied the first 50% off to our prorated three days in the first month. When we asked the manager about it later he told us "You could do it that way. But the person that chose to move you in chose to do it this way." Moving out was also a hassle. Upon move in I specifically asked the terms of move out, including whether or not the last month was prorated. I was assured it was. However, when we went to give notice they told us that we had to pay the entirety of the last month even though we were only going to be in the unit for 5 of those days. We had to rearrange our moving schedule to move out by the end of the month, resulting in our move taking place over two weekends and needing to rent two more Uhauls in addition to the one we needed to move in. After we removed everything from the unit we went to the office to complete the move out with their representative. Their out of office sign was on the door stating they'd be back at 9am, it was 11am and no one was inside. We had to return later that afternoon to complete the move out. Note, they do not have dumpsters onsite for customer use. A week after we move out, I get a text reminding us our storage rent was due on January 1st. I called in and the person I spoke with on the phone was abrasive and unhelpful, he told us whoever we spoke to in the office on our move out day did not process our move out in the system. Eventually, he said he would check the unit to make sure we were fully out and if we were he would reverse the charge for January. We will see if it really happens. Overall, the three month deal and location were not worth it. Between the three Uhauls we had to rent and all the frustration caused, it would have been better and possibly less expensive to go with one of their many competitors in the area.
