Received several missed calls after we moved out the unit. We have then are being told that we have a balance for a lock . We did not owe them any lock because we paid for our own. The young lady on the phone hung up on my face and I called to speak to corporate and they stated the store is privately owned . Anywho finally spoke with someone else Who explained there is an additional lock that is missing that does not belong to us , and they did not have the keys for it. All I had to do was drop off keys. Americans love their crap. Everyone I've known who pays for storage is making an idiotic choice. There are too many stories to tell, but if you were to sell your items now, could you get 1 or 2 years' storage fees paid? Let go. When you're in a better place you can buy again. This Public Storage on 8th in Homestead FL is THE BEST!! I have had to utilize their facilities three times in the past couple of years and won't go anywhere else! They are the cleanest storage facility I have ever seen! Climate controlled to the perfect temperature, the staff is always friendly and super helpful. I especially love that I can pay my bill and access the gates using my phone app! Thank you!! read more

We rented our units online and the transaction was super simple and smooth. The app works pretty well to open doors will inside the building. It will not open the main gate, however. Also, it feels pretty safe and secure inside the gated area. The main drawback to this place is their carts! We have gone several times and different times and there only seems to be two carts for the whole place, and of course they're always in use (usually by people moving large truck loads). If this were to be improved, I would definitely give this location a 5-star. read more

Public Storage increases rates more frequently monthly than elementary school children hurl "skibidi toilet" insults daily. If comparing storage unit rates, be skeptical of much lower advertised rates. It might be a ruse to trap you, your belongings, and your money. Regret will follow, like buying snake oil from a salesman. I foolishly clicked on an online ad and now my rent is increasing for the second time in twelve months.I received notices at the six-month and eleven-month marks. My rent will increase to $441, a 47 percent hike. My finances can't keep up, and I'll soon exceed my financial breakpoint and become incapable of servicing the expense. I rent a 10' x 30' unit. Their facility on NE 8th Street in Homestead holds my cherished personal belongings. I've made timely, auto-paid monthly payments.Most companies trip over themselves trying to retain responsible customers and avoid any disruptions that could cause their departure for a competitor. Public Storage's approach differs from traditional business practices. Unlike other businesses that value their responsible customers, Public Storage seems to disregard them. They adopt a practice that has the feel of a mob shake-down. I fear they may raise rates until I can no longer afford them, then lock me out of my storage space, and keep my property when I become delinquent.I called Public Storage for help, and they offered me "options." The property manager saiid I had to move my property to another unit, but they didn't have any large ones available. Anyone who's moved knows moving is painful. Public Storage is likely aware of the public's attitude toward moving. We'd rather be attacked by viscous U-Haul boxes and bubble wrap than move. Some people might disagree, but they're likely not current customers at Public Storage's Homestead facility. I requested a postponement or waiver of the pending rate increase. The property manager researched the possibility but quickly concluded that Public Storage wouldn't grant my request. She kindly suggested I contact their "We Care" department, as they had more flexibility to assist customers. I felt a sense of relief and promptly called We Care. I was confident that the compassionate employees there would understand my situation. Connie answered my call. She was professional, but that's all. I couldn't help but wonder if she genuinely cared about my problem or if she cared more about completing the tasks interrupted by my call. It was likely neither. Instead, odds are she cared more for an upcoming sharpshooters competition since she seemed skilled at swiftly shooting down all my issues with only a single shot. Regardless of the reasons, it seemed that We Care couldn't have cared less. Connie curtly informed me that my option was to relocate my property. She offered two more unhelpful suggestions: creating another online account to try and find a lower-priced unit when it became available or moving my property into multiple smaller units. She assured me that their online prices were significantly lower, but her tone and demeanor made it sound like she only wanted me to immediately agree and end the call without further discussion. My hopes were crushed. What had happened to We Care? Why would a company call a department "We Care" when it seemed like they didn't care at all? "We Care Less" seemed more appropriate for their approach. I was deceived, I acted on it, and then it was switched. My negotiating position is weaker compared to Public Storage's much stronger one. I am a disabled veteran and cannot quickly and easily move my property; moving is expensive, time-consuming, labor-intensive, requires mobility, strength, muscle, endurance, at least one additional person, but preferably a small army, to help move, and more. Public Storage only needs to provide an available unit to meet the current demand. The deck is stacked in their favor and they've chosen to maximize their advantage. I've realized that that's their choice to own, not mine to internalize. They can choose to be whichever predator-shark, snake, or spider-they believe their values reflect. I suggest they choose all three. Good business practices do not include pricing customers out of their storage units. Offering attractive online rates only to later substantially increase them repeatedly may be legal, but it's still wrong and insidious.A tarnished brand will cost you more in the long run. I can't do much apart from sharing my experiences about their practices on the internet. I accept the limitation of what I can accomplish in this space. My rent will remain high for the foreseeable future. My desire is for others to read my post and be better informed before committing themselves, their property, and money to Public Storage. I hope they change for the better, but I believe that it's unlikely without intervention. Its business practices should be investigated and required to cease the predatory behavior. The public would be better off for it. read more

Unfortunately a few weeks back I noticed(and recorded) some water intrusion into the previous unit I was renting. It was a unit located at an exterior wall and the leak was coming down an electric junction box (yikes!). The water more than likely was coming through the emt electrical pipe that goes through the brick onto the outside wall. This prompted me to secure another unit at this same location, so I can transfer all my belongings and reoprt the issue to management. Unfortunately for me the system put my new unit in the third floor when my previous unit was in the second floor. Having to move from the second floor to the third would have made my job that much more arduous. Upon notifying Mina(property manager) of the situation, she was able to keep my new unit in the second floor instead of the third. I really appreciate her being kind enough and doing that; I'm sure that saved me several hours time from something that took too long as it was anyway. Thanks again! read more

Lack of communication, and do not get back to me in a timely matter. You can transfer your account to other person but they need to get "permission" to transfer your account when your right in front of them. A bunch of kids that lack the confidence to make leadership decision and take initiative and follow through. But what can you expect it just a job for them. They will tell you they cant do something when they actually can or are too scared to do it. Will tell you they find out for you but wouldn't get back to you. If you have a problem you have to call them and follow thou because they will not. read more
