The staffs are nice overall, and Nohe is the friendliest employee there. She is always helpful and never loses her smile to the customers. One day, I lost my lock key and a locksmith came to cut the lock in order to put a new one. One of the employees had to stand and watch the whole time, and Nohe did it. She still had her smile and talked with me while we all were standing there. I was very thankful that she didn't act like I was wasting her time. I like the business hours for the storage, and the office is cool and clean. However, the inside the actual storage is kinda warm although it is climate controlled. read more

I recently changed to this storage space about a year ago, because my other storage unit had gotten broken into. With significant damage done, I came to this space weary and with a lot of questions. I have been so happy with my switch to this facility! The people are always so friendly, nice and very helpful. They take the time to answer your questions and help you with anything you need. It may not be the cheapest, but I think they have good security, enough for me to feel safe (which meant a lot to me, coming from a prior break-in). Google "Public storage rent increase" before you sign your agreement - beware that the rate you're signing a lease for can increase whenever they feel like it - almost 20% every 6 months! This is what PS does at all their locations nationwide. You might get notice but if you are storing your things and leaving island, it's not like you can move your stuff... I rented a unit from this location starting in August 2015 to store my household goods while on deployment. In March my payment increased from $146 to $171. I called the location and they blamed the rent increase on corporate. The store informed me that they mailed a letter in January informing me of the rent increase, which I did not receive due to the fact that I'm not even in the country. The storage facility is decent but nothing special. read more

I came here to just get boxes for moving but then the guy was so helpful and so nice I ended up getting a storage which is what I needed ! He showed us the storages , he even walked us through all the steps and he was telling us how every thing works and such and we even got our key today . Sean was such a big help ! We ended up getting our boxes plus tape plus all the extra stuff needed to help us move and we got the $1 first month promotion deal and that really just locks in the whole deal . I'm glad we came here because now we're one step closer to being able to leave the island for a while and this public storage stays open from 8 am - 8 pm and it looks very secure since there are cameras and there's insurance that we can buy as well as the elevators are in the other room and I feel pretty secure keeping all my things here oh and to add the front of the store has those carts that you can put your boxes onto push for you instead of carrying them all up yourself . After the latest rent increase pushed my monthly bill for a 10x10 space over $500, I decided to vacate. I set a June 30 move-out date, cancelled my automatic payment service after my payment for June cleared, and started to remove my belongings a few boxes at a time. Then all three elevators went out of service for three weeks. The company did not provide any notification or updates; I had to call daily to find out the status. It took until July 5 for a single elevator to become available and those who were scheduled to move out earlier were told that we would be given until July 8 to vacate. I rushed to clear my space by July 7. Then this week I received an email notice claiming I was overdue for my July rent, had incurred a $98 penalty and would be sent to collection if I didn't pay within 10 days. I called the office and was told that those whose move-outs had been delayed were given until the end of July to vacate (this is contrary to what I was repeatedly told as recently as July 6) which made the July charge even more illogical. The representative I spoke with said she would pass my request to waive the charges (which I should not have incurred in the first place) to her supervisor who, conveniently, is currently on vacation. This evening I got another email incorrectly stating my vacate date as July 12, which would nonetheless be coveted by their supposed policy to extend move-outs until July 31, and reiterating the threat to send my account to a collection agency if I don't pay. What a clown show. I guess they want to be taken to court. read more

I have given Public Storage a 2 because I expected much better. The staff is very nice and helpful however, I signed up in the middle of October and within 4 months I received a letter of a substantial rent increase. I was told when moving in the rent goes up in a year...the contract does state Public Storage can give you a months notice on a rate increase ( they can raise it whatever they would like, no $ or percentage is stated). My advice would be using Public storage as an interim for your things or very short term..otherwise understand your beginning price is just to get you in and the price will increase in just a couple months... read more

The location is really good for us, but it is really not cold enough at all, and the biggest problems are when the office is closed, you can't use their carts. so try lifting all your bulk items by hand - yikes! The other problem is the manager; a very short guy with a short fuse. Scary enough to make us leave. He's a terrorist, but the other male staff are all nice. First let me start by saying I have been a customer of this location since it was first built. I have spent thousands of dollars keeping items in storage for years. My most recent experience with Public Storage however has NOT been at all pleasant ! several people from our law firm had been sharing 2 large units when last year the decision was made that everyone would get their own units. I was not physically located in Honolulu and was unable to move my things into a new unit, so I had to go through a process of renting a unit and getting it setup from California. This was not bad although a bit annoying. The bad part comes when after several months of renting the unit I decided to have my things removed and sent to me here in California. I called the public storage 800 number and they scheduled a move-out date on the computer. I had my friends in Honolulu go empty out the unit on the move-out date. You would think that would be the end of the story, but not true. This is when my nightmare began with these people. A girl from this location called to tell me I need to pay my bill. I informed her again at that time that a scheduled move-out had already occurred. She said "we don't pay attention to those move out things". "It only matters when you come in here and tell us." When I explained that my friends in Honolulu had done this and I was unable to physically come in to the store she said that was "too bad" and that I would have to continue paying for the unit. I said I had no intention of continuing to pay for a unit that had been scheduled and moved out of on a certain date. I then asked for the district manager to please call me back and I never heard anything from her at all. Today I was sitting here enjoying the Christmas festivities with my family and I received a call from a bill collector saying I owe Public Storage $250 in unpaid fees. Are they for real??? They really think they are going to prevail on this? There are laws protecting consumers both at the state and the federal level regarding this very issue. I am NOT AT ALL A HAPPY CUSTOMER !! I WILL NEVER USE PUBLIC STORAGE AGAIN !!! EVER !! And I would like to say to Public Storage PLEASE PLEASE take me to court !!!! I want you to sue me !! Let me tell the court of your disgusting and deceptive business practices !!! read more

Choosing a place to stow personal items is always a challenge. First you look at the price point however that soon takes a different position with priorities. I reviewed many storage facilities. Many were over simplified. Some were not completely accurate with the size of the unit. Others were not clear about the location of the unit. In other words, you might need a ladder to access. Few people that rent are looking for surfboard storage which is fine if you need a ladder. The spaces Public Storage are TRUE measurements. Its clean, clean, clean and well lighted. You cannot just enter any floor. ONLY the floor that your storage space is on. There is an electronic audit of all entries. NO entry unless the office is occupied. Meaning no 24-hour access whenever you want. This is a more secure system. Ro, the representative for Public Storage was very helpful. She explained everything in detail and answered every question with as much detail as I requested. She also showed me the unit to be sure that it would satisfy my need. This is the ultimate in customer service. I had almost decided before arrival. After a conversation with all the employees that were in the office center it was absolutely positively the place to rent a storage space from. read more

I was a current customer of this location when I needed another storage locker so I login to my account to reserve another one. I received an email quoting me a discounted price for the first month which I didn't expected. I got a call from the manager to schedule the move in date. About 5 minutes after I hanged up, manager call me again and told me that they can't honor the quoted price. After going back and forth for about 10-15 minutes, he said that he will refer me to his regional manager. I said ok. About 10 minutes or so the property manager call me and insisted that they can't honor the price. I said it's not my fault that the system quoted me that price and that they should honor it. After going back and forth about 5-10 minutes he said he will refer me to the regional manager after I got so fed up that I told him cancel it. Did not get a call from the regional manager. Next thing I know I got an email confirming my move in date with the same quote. No call to apologize or anything. They lost my trust and needless to say, I moved out of my current locker and cancel my reservation. Save yourself some headaches and do not rent here. I was a customer that paid on time with autopay so for them to make a mistake and not honor it but instead harassed me indicate that they don't deserve my business. Even after the thefts reported on the news a few month back, I still rented with them since I trusted that they would correct that but after this incident, I would not rent from them again. I rather pay another location more and not get this type of treatment. read more

This is a great place with a really helpful staff. Sean was patient and helpful on the phone two different times, and Hannah was gracious and welcoming in person and made sure we got the best space for our purposes and budget. She took the time to show us several units and found discounts for the one we chose. The building seems very secure, with pass codes needed for elevator access, and, although the air conditioning isn't super cold, it is a whole lot better than the storage units we had vacated. The facility is also really clean. We are very happy with Public Storage on Kapiolani and will recommend it highly to friends. read more

Horrible place. Dirty, dark, and there are homeless people sleeping in some of the units. The manager Raymond is a joke - he quoted me one amount and I ended up being charged twice that on my bill. Every month it's a battle to get the billing right. They called me a few months ago to tell me that they had a break in and the burglar took all the customer checks and that I should write them a new one. Unbelievable! read more
