They really deserve those top-notch stars for their climate-controlled, secure and clean storage facility. On our initial visit, we met with Daniel Ulu who happens to be an owner/agent of this company as well as an associate realtor. Daniel was friendly, professional and informative. He guided us through their fee structure, security assurances, climate controlled storage and even moving services. At the time, there weren't any large storage units available but Daniel assured us that he'd call us when something opened as we anticipated to start moving at the beginning of October. He mentioned that they had just run a special on the 7'x8' or 8'x8' cells and he was willing to extend the special rate to us. Yay! A week passed then we received a call that a large unit had become available. We quickly went down to establish an account so we could start moving items in as soon as possible. Storkeeper Self-Storage rates are reasonable. We're really pleased that their storage facility is secure, air-conditioned, clean and well-maintained. I don't recommend coming here. I signed a agreement for a one day use and the next thing you know a month later I'm getting charged for the whole month. I already paided the amount due for the day and we got our luggage before they closed and our unit was empty the same day. We check in April 6 and should have been checked out the same day since our unit was empty. Called the first day to see the reason and they said they will check if it's empty and disclose the account. Never did. Very rude on the phone and hanged up on me before verifying it with me. Now I get another text saying it's late and I still owe. Called multiple times and no answer. Please do not come here. Please just store your luggage or needs somewhere else and listen to my own bad experience. Also I always voice record anything for legal process and he even states " I know you are staying for a day, but I need you to sign this" and he also stated on the recording the amount we paid. I am trying again to get this disputed since I do have a copy of what was agreed. Horrible and stressful experience. read more

I've had a unit at Storkeeper Self Storage for nearly a year now. The facility is always clean and the staff is very friendly. They accept packages for me and alert me when I have something in the office. This is a BIG deal because most of the units I've rented from don't do this (I've had about 10 storage units in Ca and Hi). They also let me leave items in their office for coworkers to pick up. They have units of all sizes and the facility is air conditioned which is nice when you're opening boxes organizing. Very pleased overall here, no complaints! read more

Was here only to rent U-Haul cargo van. I didn't know you could rent the truck and return it after closing hours. They have a place for you to drop the keys back which was convenient for me because of my work hours. The only downside about this is when returning the truck there's actually no one there to verify things with you. So I got an invoice the next day saying I was charged an extra $5 because the tank was drained but that's not where it was when I returned it... My sister made a good point that I should've taken a picture of the tank before returning just in case I had any disputes... Too bad I didn't listen. I just paid the extra $5 and learned my lesson for next time. The cargo van we got also smelled like livestock and hay, gross but you get what you pay for. I like that they also had options to rent hand trucks and other moving supplies. But for my next move I'd hire a team. It's too much work for me to carry our couch. read more

These guys were super helpful both on pickup and drop-off and they got me in/out quickly both times. The pick up experience was quick. It helps if you do most of the pre-rental info online. I'm in the middle of moving. This is not a long planned event. Time is not on my side. A lot of decisions have to be made and hoping for even one minute to decide can be a luxury, one that I don't have. My timeline is tight. Secondary is finding a new place to move to. Primary is getting out of here. But that brings about another challenge: where do I put everything while in limbo? It seems like self-storage businesses are popping up around every corner. The challenge is not finding a self storage company, but finding the right one that comes recommended for their good customer service. It doesn't matter how awesome a deal seems, poor customer service can make it a very expensive endeavor. I called a very good friend of mine, Tiny, and asked if he would recommend any self storage company. The keyword is RECOMMEND. Without hesitation he said Storkeeper Self Storage. I went online to find out more about Storkeeper. Via their website form I inquired about what they had available and price. In less than half a day Chris called back. I explained my situation and told him I had no idea what I would need. One concern was what if I select a unit and find that it's not big enough? He answered all my questions then gave me two options. This was a helluva lot easier than I anticipated. If I may make one suggestion...Write down any questions you might have and ASK. No question is a bad question, unless you don't ask. Also, ASK! Storkeeper is locally owned and operated open 7-days a week. The units are in a temperature controlled, clean, and well kept structure. Bigger units have a heavy-duty roll-up door; most smaller units are overhead, perfect for not-too-heavy boxes and non-furniture/bulky items. They are easily accessible using platform ladders provided. Storkeeper Self Storage is across the Hawaii Convention Center just mauka of Kapiolani Blvd. near Kalakaua Avenue and before Atkinson. From Kapiolani heading West (Ewa bound), take the first RIGHT after Kalakaua on to Kalauokalani Way, under Hawaiian Brian's. You'll see their big sign. If you are heading East (Kokohead bound) from Kapiolani, turn LEFT onto Kaheka Street; Turn RIGHT on to Makaloa; then turn RIGHT onto Kalauokalani Way. Storkeeper will be on your right about half a block down, 1687 Kalauokalani Way As for their rates... Don't let seemingly good incentives be your main deciding factor. Great prices do not necessarily equate to positive experiences. Ask around. Check with friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc. for their recommendation. Word-of-mouth advertising is the most valuable and effective. Businesses cannot buy that kind of sincere, honest, and effective referrals. (Interesting side note: If a person had a great experience they will usually tell 2-3 people; if a person had a bad experience, they will usually spread the word to 10 or more people). I learned something else. Trying to find people to help you move and coordinating everything involved can add stress to an already stressful situation. Storkeeper has muscles-to-go! That is, they offer moving services at very reasonable rates. I think it just makes sense to let the pros do their thing. Simply put, it's a storage facility...and I've rented from them twice now. I'm not the type to beat around the bush so I'm giving them 5 stars for the following reasons: -Location (right off of Kapiolani under 24 hour fitness) -Price (they typically have some promotion and paying in advance gets locks you in at a better rate) -Parking (never had a problem with it) -Variety of storage types So... I rented my first time because I just needed a unit the size of a bedroom closet, the second time I rented was a larger unit so I could actually move. Each time I found their service to be "Standard run-of-the-mill Hawaii" customer service from a locally owned and managed company but always friendly and willing to help once you get their attention. And they seem to be pretty low-key as a storage company and they have rental carts, a truck for rent, moving supplies, etc. I did find it interesting that some units are literally office set up, small little lockers the size of probably of a kitchen cabinet and they even have rental space just for your surfboard. Overall... I'd rent from them again and they are safe, secure; I have had no problems or felt worried about my belongings. The gentleman who helped me was very nice and he got me in and out of there with all the paperwork signed in about 15 to 20 minutes. Everybody was friendly. Storage was very clean and I got a great deal. They have a ramp that is high enough for most pick ups so you can just walk off the truck into the warehouse. They have carts to move your stuff from the truck to the unit. It is also possible to rent a van to get your stuff out of the house and to the warehouse - $50 for 4 hrs. read more

I rented a UHaul from them and the service was great. The guys that work the desk were nice and made the whole transaction easy and fast. The facility is very professional and well run. If I ever need a storage unit this is where I would go. While I was filling out the paper work for my rental, a couple of people came by the office to pick up packages that had been left for them and the guys found their items very quickly for them. This place really helped when we were trying to store all of our wedding stuff. The rates are fairly decent and it's only a 5 minute drive from our apartment unit. The staff are also friendly and helpful. I have this place at 3 stars only because their parking lot is pretty narrow and small. It gets cringeworthy when it's a busy day. Just rented a unit a few weeks ago for our business. We had wonderful customer service and were in and out in about 15 minutes. The prices were the best I found on island, and was really happy to hear they would sign for deliveries for me and let me know when they arrived. We also got a PO box so we can use this as our office mailbox. The whole place was clean and temperature controlled. VERY nice place. When I first got the unit things were great, I got a great price and the location of the storage was close to the entrance. Because I have a business and that is what this storage was going to be used for they even gave me 24 hour access. But since then they raised the price on me and every time I try to access the storage at night I have had problems. Then it went from being 24 hour access for me to 11:00pm which is still fine since the other storage facilities close at 9:00pm. But then when I have gone around 10pm I dont have access. Now I guess they dont allow anyone to enter when there office hours are closed. I never got a phone call or a email or even a letter notifying me of any of these changes that I have mentioned above. Then one day I go in and there is another lock on my unit, I go to the office and ask them the reason for this. They said something fell down from the other unit and they needed to check to see what it was. Which I understand because if something of mine fell down I would want to check and see what it was as well. But what if I came when the office was closed and there was another lock on my unit? I would of had to come back the next day when the office was open to have them remove it. I still keep my unit there because I love to support local businesses but the amount of problems that I have run into have just gotten to be more of a pain. And I would of rather of paid more for a unit at Kaimuki Self Storage just to be able to have 24 hour access. read more
