Storing here was easy, the staff was friendly, and access was great. They definitely have some squatters on the premise but I was never bothered by them. My help told me their dumpster was far from my unit and there's only one. So not handicap or user friendly by any means. The only issue is they have tried to continue charging after my move-out. I submitted my move out on Dec 31, for January 16. Much more than the 2 day required. I paid January in full and removed my lock. Followed all requirements in my rental agreement (double checked). They are trying to charge me $78 for February currently (payment was $48/month). No way to contact through the app. *Update: sounds like someone put "substantial items" in my unit between my help emptying it and them checking it. So they've been charging me for storing items that aren't mine. Hopefully we get this sorted. read more

Rats, Rats Rats! I have an outside unit where I store a vintage VW and custom motorcycle as well as other garage and shop items. The manager failed to advise me of the terrible and ongoing rat problem they have on this property prior to moving in. The problem has gotten worse and not better. The rats have soiled and chewed my car and mc covers to the point of no use. I come back once a week just to clean out my unit. On my last visit I realized the rats had chewed a hole into the fuel line of my car. My unit reeks of urine and now gasoline! The amount of droppings collected after just one week is insane. I have reported this to the management team on site multiple times. I will not even come out to look or take photos of the issues. I have tried to call the District Manager dozens of times with absolutely no return phone call... Not until posting a negative review of this property online. This was his only attempt to reach out to me. All of a sudden I mattered. That was short lived. Our conversation went south, quickly realized he was not wanting to hear me, remedy the problems or address my concerns and questions. He was absolutely the most arrogant, self promoting person I had ever dealt with when it comes to customer service. He used bully tactics, tried intimidating me and controlling the conversation. His sad attempts to make me feel guilty by taking subtle cheap shots and jabs, while using (abusing) his status as the DM was very sad and disturbing. It was the poorest attempt at customer service one could ever offer. Since my conversation with the DM, I have gone up the chain of command. I am waiting for a return call from the Area Service Manager. This is a huge safety and health issue first and foremost. I do plan on contacting the Health Board as well as the media if I do not get any resolution to this matter. Renters beware! read more

This place is infested with mice they don't warn anyone and keep putting up rodent traps that do not do anything I would hate for anyone to store there items there especially sentimental ones like mine. When I moved out on the 11th I was told there was no final bill, so I asked for the prorated monthly charge refunded, was told that "they charge for the full last month". The advertise prices are a scam so do not be fooled. keep in mind that you are required to have insurance, buy their lock $20, pay administrative fee $25, and they will always raise your rates very soon after you sign up- and then whenever they want to but at least annually. Everything was great... until it wasn't. This was supposed to be a five star review, the staff is very helpful and kind and the place is clean and well taken care of. However... They just started a new policy where the moving carts are chained up unless you hand over ID. OK, not a big deal right? Except for when the front desk closes, the carts are locked up all night. This creates a problem if you, like I, opted for a large upstairs unit way in the back. No cart makes moving your stuff after 6PM, or you know, after work, next to impossible. Sadly I'll be moving my stuff to another place that is a little more thoughtful in their policies. So be aware, the grounds and staff are great, but stick to units you can drive up to. read more

The only reason I can give this even 2 stars is because the employees on the property are all awesome. They get you in by offering $1 first month's rent. But then after they tac on the fees and insurance that you must have. Oh, and buy your on lock. You are out the door having spent over $100. Without notice, they upped my monthly fee. Trying to deal with customer service was a joke. Rude, hostile & inconsiderate. So, I go above to the district manager. Again, a joke. It took me 3 tines of calling him to get a response back. I rent a 10x10 unit & back when it was $140 a month it was OK & while the price has got bigger each year my unit stayed the same size. Now it's almost $219 a month, I'm a long term (over 10 years) customer & asked for a price break but they wouldn't do anything & so I'm done. I'm moving to a cheaper unit elsewhere (over $35 a month cheaper). If my wages had gone up the same % each year as the price of this place I'd be a happy man. read more

Gots to agree with the reviews for all other locations of Public Storage. The $1 first month is rather misleading. Or, actually, it's probably better to say $1 for the first month can be true for you only if you're really at the top of your game.. which I bet most people aren't. You're encouraged to buy their lock ($13) and you're also encouraged to buy insurance with an associate of theirs. (Remember, though.. If you have renter's or homeowner's insurance, that's usually covered in your contract, so you don't have to sign up for it at PS.) The service is generally OK, but, admittedly, my interactions with the staff have been minimal since signing on. The reason the hubby and I selected this place for storage was because it was the closest climate-controlled storage to where we live... which we needed since we were going to be transporting a lot of *little* things (ie, oversized books). You can get through the gate pretty much any hour of the day, I believe, but the climate-controlled storage is only available in the daylight hours and until 9pm. It's been advised that you better get out of there by 8:45pm, just in case. There is no staff on site after general business hours, and your only other recourse if you get locked in is to call 911. The place can be a little creepy if you're storing stuff on your own, so bring a friend if you're unsure. (There's usually only 0-1 other car unloading while we're there.) They have about 3 carts they have out for customer use, which are not necessarily at tip-top shape but serve their purpose. Definitely do sign-up and make your reservation online before coming in, though. It's all about the online rates these days. Sorry, old timers. read more

I have been with the facility for more than three years and I found the staff here to be professional and patient. I made multiple calls to the facility to try to resolve some issues and Sheila always maintained a high level of professionalism and patience. The district manager Barrett is also very helpful and courteous - he was able to offer me a good solution to my request that no one else can and as a result saved me a lot of hassles. It's service like this that motivates me to take the time out to review. The only complaint I have is the sharp increase in rent (close to 33% since I started) but this is beyond the control of the staff. read more

This storage unit facility is infested with rats! When we moved into our new house we discovered our storage unit was infested with rats- feces and urine. Thousands of dollars of damage!! The rats are in the insulation. Don't buy their insurance, doesn't cover anything! I had been desperately looking for a storage unit for about a week and I finally stopped in to this Public Storage. The woman working the front desk was named Kim and she was great! She was all by herself, but did a fantastic job helping me and two other customers who came in. I was really surprised at how (relatively) affordable the units were-I thought they would be way out of my price range. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because Public Storage does this RIDICULOUS thing where you have to reserve a unit online to get a good deal. I literally sat in the Public Storage office, went on my phone, reserved a unit and then walked up to the front desk to get my deal. It's just a stupid waste of time, the people who work there should be able to give the same deal that the website does. Tip: I highly recommend getting the insurance, I found out my homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood/water damage, but the supplemental Public Storage one does and it's super cheap! read more

Instead of a discount on the first month, I ended up paying way more than I expected because of all the extra fees. Every floor smells like cat pee as soon as the elevator opens. I can't believe they using the same scam on everybody. Then getting away with it still I see. I'm sure of it. I just a review saying they recommend getting the insurance. That's hat they told me to. When I first got a unit there. So I saved the money. By not getting the insurance that month. They ended up charging me a late fee. For not getting the insurance. That means they straight up lied to me. Also to the person. That wrote the review. I just read. How can they get away with this??!! They scam people so horribly. I never thought such a popular cooperation. Could do such a thing. I wouldn't be surprised. If people tried to sue them left and right. They just get all their cases dismissed. I cannot recall the last time I was penalized for being a good customer. After receiving a rate increase notice, I decided to check the website to see if there were any possible deals I could take advantage of. Even the cable company is willing to pass on savings from time to time. To my surprise, I discovered I am paying substantially more than the going rate for the same size space and location within the building. I went into the office to ask about the discrepancy and that's when I was told, "I've been there too long to be eligible for any breaks." This was followed by, "I'm sorry, that's just the way the system is." They did suggest I go online and reserve another space in order to secure a lower rate. I asked if I had to vacate my present space. Yes. Simply applying the online rate to my present space was also not an option according to the system. Given the timing of my inquiry, I was then told I would need to vacate my present space in a day in order to avoid paying rent for another month in addition to the rent for the new space. Does anyone have a recommendation for a secure customer friendly storage facility in the Seattle area? read more

Yes, the 1$ first month's rent is misleading. But I'm writing about having to deal with the district manager (Barrett) for this property and the properties in the area. I've had to deal with him several times. The first time, we moved my mother's storage unit (without her there) from the Wallingford location to this location. Did you know that if you buy a lock from Public that 1 in every 1500 keys are the same? Oh, me either. We moved someone else's unit that happened to be two doors down from my mom's actual unit. So beware if you're using one of their locks. We were met with much reluctance to be comped a month's rent so we could have some extra time to be able to move the actual storage unit & had to rent a truck to move the stuff x2. Coooool. The other time we've dealt with Barrett was when we went & took some stuff to the unit at this location after being there a couple months. We returned later that day to bring more crap to the unit. This time, our code didn't work. Thankfully we were there right before closing so we were able to talk to the property manager, Troy (who is actually very nice and helpful). We have an outside unit and apparently, a unit near ours was broken into sometime between 11am and 2pm. Well, we were there around 12pm and so were under investigation as being the culprits... well, my boyfriend was. He called Barrett to get more info on the situation. This man had the nerve to tell my boyfriend that he saw HIM on camera tampering with this other person's storage unit. He has met me and talked to my boyfriend on the phone before but has never actually seen him. When my boyfriend pointed this out, Barrett was still confident that he did it and said they were going to take a day to investigate. Investigation, fine, understandable... but to bluntly accuse someone you've never met of a crime? Really, dude? Plus, why would a grown man break into a unit near his own with his pregnant girlfriend and 3-year-old son in tow? &They didn't even bother to tell us that they were investigating us. We called back each day for the next three days to see if the issue had been resolved and got no response until the third day. Of course, they found that it wasn't my boyfriend who had broken into the unit and little apology was issued. He even went so far as to say he didn't say the things he did a few days ago and in regards to not calling us and telling us of the situation, he'd hoped that we, "wouldn't come in during the 18 hour investigation." What a great person to be in charge. We would move to another company but that would cost us even more money so we're currently hoping everything will go smoothly from here. read more

I needed a 10 x 20 unit to store my vehicle while out of town for a bit. The staff were all very courteous and professional. They walked me through all of the ins and outs and Trent was very honest and upfront. He took me to the unit to see if it was to my liking, which it was, he had me lock the unit just to ensure I knew how to do it. (Apparently the locks for the units can be a bit tricky), we went back to office to finalize everything, all in all I was in and out in about 20 mins. My rental space was infested with rats and management does not care. Insurance only covers $250 of vermin coverage, with a $100 deductible - worthless. But management says they aren't insurance adjusters! When I talked to the manager, he told me I was covered for $5K - hard to believe he didn't know they didn't cover vermin. No apology, nothing..they don't care about you and they definitely don't care about your belongings. I have rented here for years, spent thousands of dollars in storage fees, and am truly heartbroken and angry from the damage. They knew they had a rat issue months ago, but said NOTHING. After reading reviews here, apparently this has been going on for years but management acts like it's a new problem & only says they "sorry, they aren't insurance adjusters"! They possibly could have prevented damage if they let us know, but they did not even do that! I will be seeking legal consultation, not because of the money, but principle at this point. And telling everyone I know to stay away from Public Storage, I am disgusted, do not rent here! read more

I would have to say i will never store with public storage again. The price was a little misleading but also i have never had this bad of customer service. The manager was awful from the very first day. We also had to talk to her about a problem and she was extremely rude about this as well. I'v used them a few times, different locations and never had this problem. Actually the employees were usually very nice and easy to work with, this location however really ruined it for me.
