Constant issues with the gate (hey morons: maybe put up a sign saying it doesn't work so people know to come the office for a code for the alternate gate), broken doors that don't stay open, the property manager is never at the desk and doesn't answer the phone, and rent has nearly doubled over a two year period. Got a new unit from U-Haul for half the price guaranteed for a full year. I would avoid this location at all costs. read more

Unit ceiling partially collapsed in rain storm on 7/25/25. Spoke with property manager on 7/26/25 and made a 10am appt to get a new unit on 7/27/25. No one was in the office to assist!!!!! You can only leave a message and no one is there to help with a situation like this! I was told attendant would be in at 9:30am. As of 10:15am still no one is here!!!!!! Public Storage in Nesconset, NY, has informed me it is going to raise my rent 33%, from $450 to $600/month. This comes on top of a 20% increase last year, from $383 to $450. I initially rented this unit in December 2019 for $292/month. Bottom line: My rent has doubled in less than 4 years for no discernible reason other than greed. It's not as if there has been any improvement to the facility or service. This is simply an unconscionable and usurious money grab. I doubt it's even legal. If so, what's to stop them from doubling the rent next year? FWIW I have been a customer of this Public Storage location since 2003, transferring to a larger unit in 2019. If this is how Public Storage treats a longtime customer, there's no telling what they do to rip off newcomers. I have reached out to the NYS Attorney General and my local House Representative, and submitted a negative review to the Better Business Bureau, which notes that Public Storage is not accredited. If anyone has any advice for further action, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you! read more

My son is moving to Manhattan and is renting a 15 foot truck. Went on-line and found one available in Westbury NY. Needed a one way and drop off in Brooklyn. It created a reservation number with the pick-up and drop off. I called Long Island Corporate and said there are no one way trucks at all on Long Island. I said this is false advertisement when it created a reservation number. They said it goes to our schedulers to let you know the site for pick-up even though it has it on the reservation. Corporate had an attitude and did not care if I put a bad review out there. Watch out that a reservation does not mean it's confirmed. Went to This location today in Smithtown to have a hitch installed which I ordered two weeks ago to make an appointment I go there this morning at 7:30 for my appointment and the woman at the desk casually says oh we don't have the parts. I never got a call telling me not to come to inconvenience me and my wife this is the second time this happened the other was in Farmingdale location they have no regard for your time And don't care about your business I'll never go here again for anything. Beware of crazy rent increases! Mine went up a whopping 35% in a little over a year. Price of rent went up almost immediately after I got the unit and continues to climb every few months. I emailed corporate and they're solution was to decrease the size of my unit! Wtf?!? If I could fit my stuff in a smaller unit I wouldn't have rented the size I have. Lori L and Steve G are 100% accurate (especially Steve). It seems nothing has changed in 3 years. There is zero maintenance done on anything, especially to the exiting driveway. All the overhanging trees drop branches that lay in the driveway. Bushes become overgrown and hang across in front of your can as you leave. And you can't see anything that's coming from the right when you're exiting until you're halfway out into the street. I will add that they will charge you to move in 3 days early and not give you a penny back if you move out 3 weeks early. I caught an attitude when I asked if there was a credit for moving out early. I have another unit with Public Storage somewhere else, and so far, they are so much better. read more

We have been nervous about how it all needs to be handled: She guided us through the process and was able to answer all the questions we had. The storage unit is clean, accessible and affordable. DO NOT RENT HERE. I had a space for almost 2 years. When I moved my items out and closed my account there was a hole in the ceiling with mold damage to several of my items. There was even a stain on the floor of the unit. I waived public storage's insurance when I signed the contract as I already had renter's insurance. My agency required documentation as to the cause of the leak to provide coverage. The regional district manager was extremely difficult to contact and would not return phone calls to either me or my renter's insurance agency. After 2 months, when I did reach the senior manager I was told all documentation as to the cause/repair of the damage was an internal report and not available to me or my insurance agency. I was told it was wear and tear and no more. Of course, this was not enough information to determine the extent of my coverage. Public storage made no offer to refund my monthly payments or extent coverage of my damaged items, which they admitted was caused my a hole in my unit. The property is clearly not well maintained. read more

Great facility that is clean, organized, climate controlled, secure after hour access, and friendly people working there. Been there for over 3 months so far, went there twice to get stuff, and haven't had any problems. As far as storage facilities go, I don't see how it gets much better than this. Less expensive is always possible but within 45 min of hassle free driving (no bridges, no tolls) from Queens and in a safe flooding-free neighborhood... not likely. read more

Public Storage is a total ripoff. Seriously, $127.00 a month for a 5' x 10'?? Lol! I took my precious belongings out of there when I discovered debris all over my stuff. My expensive guitar was protected, but the guitar case was caked in all this white debris. How do they stay in business? It's not like there's a huge demand for storage as evidenced by all the empty containers near my unit. Can never find a wagon, so when I want to move something in or out, I have to do it one box at a time - up and down repeatedly from the second floor. Anyway, I moved all my stuff to my sister's house and I pay her $50.00 a month, so I save $77 bucks. If I could give this scam, racket, ripoff joint a quarter star, I would. You're rates will increase a minimum of 10% every 6 months, and not a single penny will go to the upkeep of the facility. This is a huge building, and they only have two hand carts for the entire building and they are kept under lock and key at the office. Instead of using the elevator closer to my 2nd floor unit, I'm required to sign out a cart (when available) and walk the entire building. So tonight I need to get a few things. The hours say they close at 9pm. I arrive at 8:15, the gate is wide open and of course the office is closed so I have no access to the two locked up carts, The outside of the facility is pitch black. Every light is either out or turned off. I'd never let my wife come here alone. Since I couldn't get a cart I figured I'd park at the door nearest to my unit. I walk in and now the elevator is still out of service. There is no way I am able to get what I need and carry it the entire length of the building in fewer than 3 trips, so I just left. Unbelievable that my rates are going up another $22.00 starting The 1st of next month. I am shocked at the positive reviews I've seen about this business. I doubt their authenticity. read more

The manager Will was very informative and helpful. Took the the time to answer all my questions, show me around. During the sign up process he explained every form, and what I was signing. Overall very helpful. The only issues I noticed was an elevator that got stuck for a few moments before working again. The temperature of the 2nd floor was warmer than the first floor. Would be five stars if PS could keep both floors at same temperature as first floor. read more
