Absolutely the WORST COMPANY. My container was scheduled for delivery on Friday... called all day for an eta and was told by 7 different people on the phone that it was coming and would be there by 8pm. At 6pm I received a text message that my delivery was rescheduled to Monday. What?!? Well it's Monday and I've been calling for an eta and guess what? No answers. Still don't have my belongings. I'm in a home without furniture and cannot even get a hold of anyone. My husband drove to the Hauppague, NY location since their local number isn't posted anywhere and guess what?! It's closed. This is the company to use for long distance moves! We used Zippy Shell for our move from NYC to California. The rates and service are incredible ! It's ran like an assembly line with a specific person coordinating each piece of the move. I spoke with Kevin and he recommended Zippy Shell in Long Island since we wanted movers in addition to the shell. The movers arrived on time and were professional and quick! We had used local movers when we moved into Astoria and had a bad experience so we were nervous about what to expect. Zippy Shell was so different in the best way. They called to let us know they were arriving . Found street parking and made the move look simple. We were so happy with the move out process. They took a move that could have been stressful and made it easy! read more

This company is awful. I scheduled a storage container to be delivered on Monday for a move from North Carolina to New York. Sunday evening, they call me and tell me it won't be delivered until Tuesday. In addition, they give a time window of the entire day. I then have to pay an extra $50 to schedule a morning delivery between 9-12:30, even though it's going to be a day late. I received no alerts, text messages, or phone calls as the scheduled delivery window expired. I call them again and they tell me that the container will be delivered by 4:30. I had movers scheduled for 1:00 to assist with unloading the moving truck and loading the container. I had to pay the movers to sit in their car for the entire time while we waited for the container. Zippy Shell told me there was nothing they could do. I've never had a worse experience with any company. The lack of communication, disorganization, and deceit is absolutely astonishing. They did absolutely nothing to make this right on their end. I'm shocked that anyone can run a business like this. read more

2 minutes ago I would like to share my experience with the world concerning my cross country move. I don't usually write horrible reviews, but this story needs to shared. From the beginning to the end this company zippy shell did not support us as we thought. I have worked with compassionate and understanding places that made sure I always felt supported even when something in the services has gone wrong. I worked in customer service for years when I was younger and know what it's all about. Now, I'm a social worker and know how I should get treated. Firstly, I was told my things would arrive at my destination in TWO weeks, they didn't call me regarding a delay. I didn't get my things until a month and 2 weeks later. I waited to call, and they NEVER called me. Without receiving my things yet. Randomly, They proceeded to take insurance money out of my account without my authorization at 1 am. They did this because they were watching out for themselves. That's when I called, after a month of waiting in a whole other state. Imagine this, my family didn't have their things (clothes, shoes, furniture, food, documents) in a whole other state for a month and 2 weeks and these people (Zippy) didn't call to tell us nothing ! That stung ! Lastly, they put all my things in the wrong container (at the origin) and didn't inform me until my stuff was at it's warehouse destination. They called me and tried to reimburse me 100$, my wait was worth 100$ people? For a 5000$ move lol. They said if they couldn't switch my things out into another container that fit the moving truck, that I wouldn't get my stuff for another month. The manager still offered me 100$ reimbursement for this heartache I was suffering! The levels of stress my family and I faced were unimaginable. We were already terrified of moving so far, and these people made the experience so much worse. Without any choice, We agreed to have our things removed for a faster move! They had to take all my stuff out at the warehouse (far as hell from my house) to put it into the right container. They didn't have a supervisor at the ware house, so my family had to drive 40 min out to supervise the transport of our things from one container to the other. Because the containers are not air controlled, Our things smell now from being there for so long. We always had to call them, they never called us. We were treated less then and not treated like a priority until we had to stand up for ourselves! The structure of this company is horrendous. We called and called for compensation, for a 5000$ move and guess how much they gave us back? After we called a billion times and waited more then a month? Chump change ............. these people are unprofessional! read more

Reasonable cost for a storage unit. Not a lot of frills, but we we lined our unit with heavy plastic & the company came through with stretch wrapping the entire crate! Customer service was so helpful & accomodating. Facility where my belongings are stored looked clean, organized & safe! My driver was a gem & even helped me to fasten the final straps. WORST COMPANY, DO NOT USE! We are moving cross-country and booked our zippy shell well in advance. We were supposed to get our zippy shell delivered to us yesterday. We got a the day before confirming they would be here between 10:30-11:30am. 11:30am rolls around, no one is here. We try calling zippy shell, we are on hold for an hr and finally put our number in the "call back list" for them to call back. While we wait, we find out they use HireAHelper so we call them. We sit on hold for another 30 min...finally get someone on the phone who is able to get a hold of our driver. We find out there was a "problem" with the moving truck and he wont be here until 2pm. Ok, 2pm rolls around, still no Zippy Shell. We call the driver (bc I had made sure to get his number) and he says he doesn't know who told us 2pm but he wont be here until at least 4-5pm AND WITHOUT OUR ZIPPY SHELL! He says that he is in a regular moving truck with another customer right now loading their stuff. He says he couldn't fit the zippy shell in the truck so now they want us to inventory all of our stuff (3 bedroom house w/ basement), load it onto this moving truck (with other customers belongings on the same truck!), he would drive it to some location, unload our stuff and then reload it onto a zippy shell. This is NOT what we were told we were getting. We were supposed to get our OWN shell, load it ourselves, make sure everything was packed appropriately and lock it OURSELVES. We FINALLY got a call back from Zippy Shell after calling a second time at 2:15pm. Shaniqua told us they have no way to resolve this for us and they did not have a reason as to why this was occurring just stating that "loose loads" sometimes occurred and there was nothing they could do about it. We told them this is unacceptable and asked if they could deliver our OWN shell tomorrow. We were put on hold for another 45min and then told they would call us back. We got a call from our driver an hour later saying that the move had been cancelled on his end....at this point we STILL had not heard anything from Zippy Shell. WE ARE MOVING CROSS-COUNTRY AND HAVE A HOUSE FULL OF BOXES!! We now have to rent a 26 ft moving truck, tow one of our cars behind it and then drive our other car separately cross country... thanks Zippy Shell for royally screwing us over! We DO NOT recommend using Zippy Shell as they are completely unreliable and do not deliver the services advertised! read more

We used zippy shell for a recent move. We needed a place to store our stuff for a few months while we were waiting to close on our new home. I chose zippy shell over PODS or other services because when I called, I was told that my items would be stored in a climate controlled warehouse. This was very important to us as we would be storing our items in July/August and basically had all of our possessions in 2 zippy shells. I was concerned about theft and when I called to ask about security measures I was told that a wheel lock is installed when the trailer is dropped off. That was NOT the case. I asked the guy that dropped it off and he said that they don't offer wheel locks. There was nothing to prevent someone from hitching up the trailer and taking it away. Thankfully that didn't happen, but I was not happy about being lied to. Overall the process went pretty smoothly and the trailers were delivered on time. We moved all of our stuff without issue but while unloading my items I noticed that the leather on our couches looked cracked and discolored. I also noticed the rubber on backs pf some of our rugs had pretty much decomposed. There were other issues with the furniture and out dining room table had a giant stain on it. I found this to be really strange but I just assumed that all of the damage had been there and we just never noticed until the items were outside in the daylight. Fast forward a month and my wife was unpacking a box of candles when she noticed that one of them (which was stored on its side) had totally melted and reformed. She looked at the other candles and the wax looked separated. Clearly all of the candles had melted while in storage. Candle wax melts at 130 degrees+. So much for a "climate controlled" warehouse. So that explains why the leather on our couches cracked/discolored as well as the damage to the carpets and other furniture. I would love to go after them for the damages but I know they'll just deny it. read more
