The place is fine, and I appreciate that they noticed and called me when I accidentally locked it incorrectly (although it took about a week), but after selecting the unit based on price/square foot, I was unpleasantly shocked when they increased the rent by 40% after 5 months with less than a months notice. At that point I had the choice of getting fleeced, or finding a new unit, moving everything (and probably paying another setup fee), and probably having to move again after 5 months. And to add insult to injury, I see that the same location has an identical unit available for less than my original price, as a discount from a price less than my current price. read more

We moved out because on several occasions we saw homeless people walking through. We told them about it. I even checked the fence and found where the fence is broken but they didn't do anything about it... They told us to let them know when the unit was empty and they would check it, but we never heard from them. after the first of the month and still haven't heard from anyone I called several times But couldn't get anyone on the phone so I asked one of my guys to go over and see if they can still get in and make sure nobody is living in it or went to the bathroom in it, etc., and he was able to get in said there's nothing in it. I told him to open the door and leave it open. They are now sending us to COLLECTIONS because they never checked the unit they never close the account. They didn't remove our password on the gate and we went to confirm that no one was molesting the unit.. BEWARE. I will be at the next city council meeting to let everyone know that this company is corrupt. read more

The company owns multiple locations in Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, and other Public Storage locations. I made an online booking, agreed to their monthly fee, and scheduled my move-in date and time. However, upon arrival, the self-service person on the camera at the location quoted me a price twice the amount I had agreed to online. They promised to credit me back the difference, but I felt uneasy about proceeding without a written agreement. After some negotiation, I decided to look elsewhere and found Extra Space Storage, which offered similar monthly fees and much better customer service. I highly recommend avoiding Public Storage's $1 fee for the first month and instead choosing Extra Space Storage or another reputable storage facility with better customer service." PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. Be FOREWARNED....this company is a complete joke, a SCAM. I rented a storage area last week with the clear understanding I had removed someone from my home and the unit would be transferred to his name before the next bill was due. I paid for the first month at that time. When I returned to put things in it today after hiring someone to load my pickup, I found out the gal who rented it to me didn't know the rules. I had no choice but to cancel, lose my original payment, pay my hired guy to offload my truck back into my garage. I am LIVID. My locker was broken into and the managers would not help. They never met at the locker about the break in and would not return any of my messages I left after I was stood up. Corporate customer service was also no help. They just wanted payment. These people will not help you if you have problems. I found a better facility to store my belongings. read more

They decided to remove the onsite person over a year ago and keep the bathroom locked although the office door had office hours listed. Admittedly, everything started well with Public Storage on Boulder St in Pleasanton. They got me in, prices were reasonable, I had auto-pay set up, I liked Sheila - no problems. Then I decided to reduce my stuff by half and move to the location by Costco in Danville, which is closer to where I now live. When I mentioned this, some genius suggested I turn off my auto-pay. I see now that this was part of their scam. I set a vacate date so I could be refunded for a pro-rated final month. Then the next couple of months unfold. Paying my bill became a saga. I tried to go to the location when I had time and never caught anyone in the office. I left 6 messages each month to please call me back so I could pay my bill because I wanted to avoid late fees. Did they ever call me back? NOPE! And I know they know how to use a phone because they had no issue calling my bf over and over to let him know my bill was late. Couldn't seem to call me or answer the phone so I could actually pay it though - maybe because they loved my late fees?! I tried to pay my bill online, but the way it was set up, I could only see my new location (on autopay) so there was no way to pay my bill at the other location. Cut to today when I went to take care of my bill and close my account. For my 5x10 space with $108 / month in rent, I was charged (wait for it) $355 to get out!!!!! STEFANI, who "helped" me (haha) couldn't really explain my charges, and charged me TWICE for lock-cutting when they didn't actually cut my lock at all! She was "happy" that she made a mistake so she could refund me. Well, guess what, I was NOT happy because now I have to wait for my bank to post the credit. Maybe she should have checked on the lock BEFORE charging me? I guess she couldn't be bothered because she sure as hell couldn't be bothered with customer service. When I mentioned that I had tried several times to pay my bill using different methods, she didn't have much to say and didn't attempt to adjust my bill to address the lapse in customer service when they NEVER returned any of my calls. She said there was "nothing" she could do and she was bound by the "rules". Guess there is no rule about accountability and satisfying customers... I paid because I just wanted to cut ties, so I picked up my last load of stuff and closed my account. I figured I would at least get refunded for the partial month because it is only the 2nd. Did that happen? NO, OF COURSE NOT. She said she "couldn't find" my scheduled vacate date in the computer. Thanks again for nothing, STEFANI!! I'm also pretty disappointed in Sheila, who I had liked, for never making sure my calls were returned. EDIT: Come to find out Sheila left the location and that is probably why the customer service slid downhill at the speed of light. Talked to Sheila today and she is trying to get me resolution. So she is still awesome. Interesting that when I asked STEFANI THE LAME about if Sheila was still there or not, she told me she was still the manager. NOT TRUE - she is a trainer now. More proof that STEFANI doesn't know her ass from a pair of lockcutters. Oh, and NOTE TO STEFANI: You said you go "above and beyond" but are bound by the rules. Listen up lady, I called the national customer service number and they immediately pro-rated me for July and apologized. BELLA (the District Manager) was useless, but I did put in a call to her. I had to do that on my own. Going above and beyond would have meant that YOU did that FOR me, get it? ALSO, you said you couldn't do anything because you were "afraid to lose your job". Try getting a job now when all future employers can read this on Yelp! It's called "thinking long-term" - give it a try! Things you should know if you decide to rent from these snakes: 1. Set up auto pay - this is pretty much the ONLY way to avoid late fees 2. Set a Vacate date before you try to move out and REQUEST DOCUMENTATION so they can't say oopsie later 3. You can pay your bill at ANY Public Storage location, so don't feel like you have to drive to your location and wait around for someone to actually be in the office 4. There is a customer service number you can call (check the website) where you can also pay your bill for a fee over the phone. (Would have been nice if they called me back to tell me about these last 2 options, but of course they did NOT. I should have called pretending to be a new customer because I am guessing I would have gotten a returned call then.) Overall, the shitty service on my last day eclipses 3 otherwise good years. BE CAREFUL dealing with these people - they are SHADY and have NO customer service skills, even when it's their own damned fault. UPDATE: Yesterday (the day I moved out), my mom suggested I call corporate. I did. They were very friendly and pro-rated my final month so I got $110 back. They couldn't reverse my late fees, and told me to call BELLA, the lame-ass District Manager. She refused to reverse my late fees/ be accountable. read more

There are so many positive experiences I have had with this Public Storage facility over the past 3+ years, and my many life changes! First off, TOP customer service. Sheila and Allison have been super personable, professional, patient, have dedicated their time to work with me to help me make the best decisions, and their response rate is the best! Then, there is the clean facility, easy access, easy paperwork, the transition process from one unit to another as an existing customer is smooth and quick. They offer all the supplies that you might need, and I just found out yesterday they have bathrooms! If I could give them more stars I would. Storage facilities can be cold and impersonal. Not this one. It kind feels like family... As long as I am in the area and I need to keep my stuff somewhere, It'll be here. Thank you ladies!! read more

I had a storage in 2014. I moved out on January 3, 2015. Since the rent was due the first of the month, I paid on time the whole month of January first and requested the balance from January 4 to 31, which I did not use, to be refunded. They promised to do that but never fulfilled their promise to refund. They still owed me 4 weeks of excess rent. I wrote them many letters to follow up, but they never replied. UPDATE 2/8/16: I wish i could give public storage negative stars! We paid for their insurance, that they push strongly for because I'm assuming people's stuff gets ruined often! We just got approved for our claim, but for half of what we originally paid for our bed, depreciation they say. So now we can't afford a nice bed like we had before, and have to settle for something mediocre. This Is Outrageous, be aware before ever using them! We will never be using public storage again. There was a water leak and damaged our very nice bed. Public Storage neglected to tell us that the roof was being worked on, and come to find out later that they never tell their customers when things like the roof get worked on. And the reason, because they can't move everyone out. But let's just allow people's belongings get ruined. They tried to fix it by 1 month free (out of 4 months), and another unit, but sorry that doesn't fix the problem. Then they go to fix the roof, and a ton of debris (wood, nails etc), fall all over our things. And again, "we rent at our own risk". Our personal belongings were completely dismissed and disrespected, it was an awful experience. We are out of their in a few days and will NEVER use Public Storage again. read more

Literally the same day I was writing my first review, I received a follow-up call from the location general manager wanting to check in on how my move-in was and if I had any questions or concerns. When I told her the issues from my other review, She immediately got me a refund to my account and apologised as well as pledged to train the new employee further. Loved that my unit was on the ground floor, as they all are, and that the units are clean! The biggest downfall here is that the gate buttons are located inconveniently both to enter & leave. Once must get out of the car on both occasions - yuk. As well, the price increase I received was a shock especially seeing the amount it increased. And..... most issues have to go through the Regional Manager who is not readily available to help. To end on a super positive, it was a pleasure dealing with Manager Sheila who was the reason I signed up there to begin with.....she was very helpful & knowledgable when I was shopping around for my storage unit. Last December, Diana was very helpful, patient, and went the extra mile for us when looking at a few units on a cold winter day. We appreciated her friendly and knowledgable assistance and have been meaning to do a review since that time. Good location with easy access. Move-in cost was excellent and the monthly cost okay, but since that time the monthly cost has gone up considerably (that is why I am giving Public Storage 3 stars instead of 5). Diana deserves 5 stars! Tip: gate hours for accessing your unit are 6am to 9pm, so make sure you are out by closing time or they will give you a friendly reminder call. Would recommend this location, but hoping not to need much longer due to the expense. read more
