This is ridiculous -- paying $765 for my storage rent when new customers are paying much less than I am. They won't let me apply for those new prices. Maybe I'm the fool, but I rent a room and that's why I keep my things in storage. What they're charging me is already ridiculous. They also won't let me pay by check because I pay after the 12th. I do pay my rent, but this is too much. It's abusive. I've been a customer there for many years, and it gets more and more stupid what they charge those of us who keep our belongings there. read more

I called in to my storage facility today and Anna answered the phone and helped me with everything I needed. I was behind on my storage. I was able to get the payment up-to-date, but my fees were still on there. I had talked to someone that said the fee's would come off. While it wasn't Anna that I talk to on the phone she took it upon herself to handle the situation and did it very quickly and professional. This is not the first time I've talked to her on the phone and she's been very informative and professional every time. I think she is great at her job. Worst management I run my business out of my storage unit, this place is infested with rats and knows it and refuses to do anything about it. The insurance they force on you is a joke it only covers $200 of rodent damage with $100 deductible. I haven't even been there for 4 months and they're already raising the space rent an additional $60. This is my first time getting a storage unit, so I didn't know what to expect. I decided to try Public Storage and when I got there, Julia was super helpful, showed me the unit, answered all of my questions, and by the end we were laughing. She is amazing! I had no reservations about renting after my time with Julia. The facilities are also really nice, clean, felt secure, and reasonably priced compared to other local options. I also love that they offer an app, because that makes things a lot easier. I definitely recommend this place, and whoever's in charge, Julia deserves a big raise! read more

They could definitely do a better job with pricing. I called them up to reserve a spot and was quoted $40/month with their 50% special. I thought this was a great deal, so I went to sign up for the place. That's where I learned the final bill was actually close to $110. What they failed to mention was the admin fee, insurance fee, and purchasing an approved lock of theirs. I knew there were other storage facilities in the area that is half of this final price, but I had already made plans to use this location and couldn't back out. The inside of the unit was pretty clean, but otherwise I would have easily picked another storage company. Shop elsewhere. read more

BEWARE OF THIEVES!!!!! As of August 2017 over 5 units have had double locks cut and their contents rummaged through for extended periods of time. DO NOT RENT HERE!!! The ownership has NO Cameras in the units and there are no access controls so they can't even tell what date range the burglary happened. To be fair- the front desk staff were as helpful as they could be, but it's obvious that the corporate management don't really care about putting cameras up or paying for night security. The police think it's an inside job since the criminals spent well over an hour inside going through things and even put a lock on after the burglary to fool passerby's. It's quite likely that the thief has a unit on-site and is accessing units after hours. BEWARE- A HUGE ROBBERY RING IS OPERATING OUT OF THIS PLACE- BEWARE- DONT RENT HERE!!!! read more

I had a series of unfavorable experiences with Public Storage at 3033 Lafayette St. in San Jose, CA. It started on day 1; move in day. I saw the $1.00 first month special; "Sir, you don't qualify for the promotion. You already have a public storage account. No exceptions." I paid the full price for their not-advertised new customer only promotion. I brought my own Master steel shackle style padlock. "Sir, you are required to use ours and it is a separate purchase." I paid extra for their not-advertised-as-required padlock, despite mine being stronger. "Sir, Insurance is mandatory, unless you brought a copy of your own homeowners insurance policy. You knew this, correct?" No, I did not know this. It is not prominently displayed. And I do not happen to carry my homeowners insurance policy with me everywhere I go. I paid for their not-advertised-as-required insurance policy. Payment is due the last day of the month, however there is a five day courtesy grace period. I paid and emptied my storage within my grace period. "Sir, you need to be paid for the coming month." So, despite my not occupying my storage for said month, I needed it to pay for it. And of course there was no prorated refund for the days i didn't use my storage. There were other required purchases as well, like a silicate moisture sachet. You may expect to pay a certain price when you walk in there but when you leave you will be paying a decidedly higher price. Deception. Buyer beware. read more

BEWARE THIEVES. We were robbed. Thieves entered via exit gate as exit gate does not have a sensor and stays open too long they robbed us in day light. This is negligent. there should b sensors on the gates to prevent multiple cars from crossing. Back fence is broke anyone can enter via railroad tracks and they still have not repaired it. This is also negligent. For the past two days front gate has been left open. anyone can enter and steal again uncaring blatant negligence BEWARE MEGA RODENTS we had huge huge rats we had to catch ourselves. They ruined a lot of our items. There was blood on our unit floor. There were raw smaller rodent bodies being eaten as we were in our unit. I recently rented a unit during the COVID-19 lockdown. The staff was very careful about safety. Only one person was allowed into the lobby at a time, with a table set up at a distance with an iPad to process the enrollment. Gloves and masks were worn. I was offered a glove for using the iPad. Everything was sanitized after use. Ana is the person who took care of the rental process. She was efficient and very friendly throughout the process. She even went up to my new unit to put the lock on because it was evident I was still suffering effects from chemo, which I greatly appreciated. Ana deserves a promotion! She definitely understands how important customer service is and demonstrates it very well. Thank you Ana for making a first time customer feel welcome. read more

Just so sad that All-Safe sold out to Public Storage. Tom and Lee were truly the best. Was with them for years. Just received a notice in the mail that my rate was going to increase to $188 a month. Used to pay $575 for the entire year! Those days are long gone... Guess they can do that since they're this huge corporate company as opposed to the "mom and pop" operation that it used to be. The former family that owned this ran a friendly yet professional operation. Tom and Lee were nice people to deal with. I really valued being able to use their cargo truck FOR FREE when I needed. All Safe Self Storage... look them up if you'r enot right in the South Bay. I had talked to Tom and Lee and they told me about the Public Storage deal. Then I noticed Public Storage locks on the vacant units. So now I can't use the empty storage space for a hour just to organize my stuff? I also noticed my personal lock all plastered with Public Storage stickers? Sorry, but this is MY lock. I received a 'Welcome Letter" from Public Storage that begins, "We are pleased to announce that this facility is now Public Storage, we are thrilled to HAVE YOU as a customer." The "Welcome Letter" contained 7 pages of new rules and information on how they will spy on my web traffic to their site using beacons and clear pixels, and sell my information unless I explicitly opt-out. WTF? Maybe Public Storage should be paying me! The first page of the 8-page "Welcome Letter" also BOLDED that rent is now due the 1st: Henceforth, your payment will be due on the 1st and the following PENALTIES apply - Day 10 $26.26, Lien Fee 1 @ $54; Lien Fee 2 @ 11.00; Lien Sale Fee and Auction $130, Returned Check Fee $25. I was never late on my payment to AllSafe, even though that wasn't until the 5th. This just struck me as a "Welcome Letter" from hell. Obviously I moved out! read more

I'm renting a 10x10 at this location, and stored all household items in there during my expat trip out of the country. So I didn't need to frequent the facility or move things in/out. Pros (this location): - I have an indoor 3nd floor unit, clean and climate controlled. Stuff towards the ceiling gets warm during the summer, but most of the unit is about regular room temperature. Moving in/out wasn't as hot as some other PS locations. - CLEAN facility. During the couple of times I visited, I saw staff sweeping the hallway. - Secure. They have cameras in a lot of places. All units are locked. - Friendly staff. The office persons are nice and helpful. Cons (generally for all PS): It's a national chain company, so many rules come with that kind of legal power. - sign your life away when getting the unit. I signed many papers, didn't even bother to read what they wanted from me. - Before you move in, call them to ask what type of locks they "accept". I brought my own Master's pad lock but they forced me to buy their $15 round lock. - Locked flatbed carts. The orange flatbed carts are chained to the elevator hall. You have to go to the office to use your ID to get the key. That means you can't get them after the office hours. - Narrow hallway, difficult to re-arrange stuff or work on something. read more

The facility is very nice, but I want to comment on how much I appreciate the customer service from the general manager and other associates who work there. One time, I had left my unit unlocked while I went downstairs to wait for a friend who was supposed to meet me there. About 15 minutes after I left my 10x15 unit unlocked and unattended, I received a call from the general manager, who informed me in a calm and courteous way that my locker didn't have a lock on it, and wondered if I was still on the property. He was so cool the way he spoke to me on the phone, to where it wasn't like he was nagging or anything. He was simply doing his rounds and took the time to give me a call. Also there have been times when I needed to use their moving cart after hours and they have always been able to accommodate my needs. It's a great facility backed by great people. read more

If you move out of one of their storage units and into one at a different location they make you wait 7 days until you are eligible for their first month half off discount. (Who moves out of a unit and holds onto their belongings for 7 days before moving them into a new one...?) Since I wasn't considered a "new" customer to get the first months discount I asked if I would then get waived the "one time" fee. Of course not! So not only do they not let you have the first month discount since you are considered a customer still, they also charge you their "one time" fee because you are at a new location. What a scam. They suggested putting it in someone else's name to get the one time discount, but of course their fees had conveniently gone up by $10 a month which would end up costing me more in the long run. I had my boxes in the truck outside waiting to be moved in with no backup options which is the only reason why I actually moved into this unit. I also had to pay the pro-rated amount for the few days at the end of the month for my new unit, but was not reimbursed a pro-rated amount for the few days I had already paid for on my old unit. Be prepared for lots of extra fees if you store here. read more

Stay away from this company! They called the police on me today when I went to check out: and simply asked for a signed note stating my units passed their inspection. Like the reviewers before me here, I enjoyed the kindness of the service of Allsafe and their residents managers Tom and Lee. I expected the transfer to take place on 1 Jan 2013, so I stopped by in late December to talk with Tom & Lee, but found they had already departed & this take-over was complete. I understood that nothing would change. As a long term customers, I was granted special after hours access, but that was the first thing to go with these new guys. No negations, concessions no discussion. It was policy and that was the end f it. I did inform them at that time (January) that i would be looking for a new place if they insisted on deigning me extended access. Earlier this month I found a larger place for a quarter of the price I was paying them for my 2 units. At the same time, I received 2 postcards announcing their new higher rates. I informed them then that my intention would be to vacate within a week. They informed me that I was paid through the end of the month and they don't issue any refunds for unused time, so they would consider me out as of 30 Sept. Last week I loaded my contents except for a few cleanup tools and moved to my new location. Today I came in to sweep the floor clean. When I completed that, I call the office to ask for a checkout inspection. A young girl came up about 10 minutes later, she took a glance (5 - 10 seconds, maybe) said fine and turned around and started walking back. I said I would like to get a simple document signed by her stating that the premises was clean to their satisfaction. She said that I could just stop by the office on my way out and pick it up. When I entered the office, she was not in sight, but 2 other young people were behind the counter. One asked me if he could help me and assuming that the inspector was preparing the document, I just say I was waiting for my checkout release. She then came out of the break room and instructed the young guy to do something, which I supposed was to print the release form so she could sign it. In a few moments, he handed me 2 pages, which, when I examined them, were only a statement of the charges on my account only show no balance. I waited, Then he asked if there was anything else they could do for me, I said I wanted a release signed from the inspector that just stated the units were clean and in good condition. Then, and only then was I told they don't do that. Say what? They insisted that the account statement was all I needed. Again i requested that they sign that the unit was received back in good condition. They refused, said it was their policy not to do such a thing. Then I turned the account statement over and ask again to just write and sign that it was clean. Again they were emphatic that they would not do such a thing. I asked the gal to go back up with me to the units so I could take a picture with her standing in it. She was adamant that she was not about to do that. I said OK, then I took out my smart phone and said you can just say it here on video, to which they insisted that I couldn't record them or in their office, but I was recording to get them to just say that is was clean, The 2 girls headed to the break room and I followed to get their statement. They slammed the door on my foot. I went back to the guy at the counter, still recording when one of the girls yelled at the guy to call the police. He pick up the phone and told the police dispatcher that I was threatening violence. He repeated this false report over several times even though I was just standing at his counter. I waited for several minutes, but no police arrived. I went outside by my car to wait for the police and called them myself so they would know before they arrive what was really going on. As I was taking to dispatch, one officer appeared. I explained to him what happened and offered to show him the video I took. He didn't want to see it. 2 additional police cars showed up to just stand around and watch. After a period of time, he came back out and said these are just kids in there and all they want is for me to leave now. That's the ending for them, but you should know how this is not an establishment you want to do business with. These are the kind of people who will find a reason to put additional charges on your credit card and you will have no recourse. They could claim all kind of damages to their property they "discovered" after you left and you have no proof that it wasn't there when you left the premises. This "trust me" attitude is no way to run a business and calling the police and reporting that a customer was violent is a very inappropriate way to do business. STAY AWAY from PUBLIC STORAGE. Avoid this place. My unit has been broken into TWICE in the last 6 months and the unit ransacked by thieves. The security is a joke. After they took over from All Safe they disabled the alarms that used to be on all the unit doors. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! read more

This place was dirty dirty dirty. My fiancee and I are moving so we were looking ar a couple areas to store some extra stuff and thought the pricing was great so we went to look at the unit. The online prcing was advertised at 127 and we called up the facility to ask for additional information such as security and all that fun stuff. They insisted that we had to make an appointment through them and we clarified that if we did that we would get the 127 price. Low and behold when we got there they did not honor that price and refused to give it to us at that rate. The office girl was rude and unhelpful. Needless to say we went somewhere else. read more

Liars !!! When I initially rented storage here staff mentioned that move in and move out both are prorated. So based on that I moved out on 3rd of June( Sunday) instead of moving out on 31st May (Thursday).. When I went to talk to staff again while moving out they told me that it is not pro-rated and I have to pay for whole month. She said that they did not tell me anything regarding pro-rated rent on move out.. I clearly remember asking about pro-rated move out when I was moving in. If I would have told initially that move out date is not pro-rated, I could have moved out 3 days in advance so I dont have to pay 117$. I dont understand why they give wrong information on the first place. Also when I went two days after moving out they were keep telling me that I did not move out and my lock is still on the door. After my persistence 10 minutes later finally they went to check the door and found that there was no lock on the door. II would suggest everyone to stay away from this facility as far as possible. read more

I needed a second unit. I have had a unit here for many years. I do miss AllSafe. I looked at a PS closer to my house off of Lawrence. The staff was unprofessional and the attitudes were outrageous! So I came back to this location and told the office of my experience dealing with the other place. This office staff was courteous and professional. I may not agree or like PS as a business, but I do need a place to store my items. I have never had a problem with break ins and feel that my items are secure. I would recommend this location to someone who needs to store items. Just know that the rules are many and you have to use their locks or one approved by the office. read more
