This place is amazing. I had to stash my belongings away for a month and a half, and the staff offered me a promotional rate and a prorated rate for the days I've been here. The facilities (I had indoor 1st floor) were squeaky clean and digitalized. I did not even have to talk to anyone in person from check-in to check-out thanks to the digital key app. Will definitely recommend this place and use again if I ever need to!! read more

They will literally steal money from your bank account. I foolishly used autopay for the monthly payment on my 5 x 10 storage unit, for about $100/month. I was going through my bank statement and notice a charge from ExtraSpaceStorage for $190. Hm. I looked over the prior month, and notice another charge for $190. I checked the prior month, about $100. I emailed them to correct the charges, after I checked their website to see whether they had any dramatic price change, and the nearby (San Jose) prices, and those prices conformed to the ~$100 bracket. They have my email address, my phone number, credit card number, and my old pre-pandemic address. I am still 500 miles away from the storage unit (read, very expensive to go get everything out of storage right now). They answered my email in the following way: "Thank you for contacting Extra Space Storage about your rental rate. You have a month-to-month lease, so your rate is not locked in. If an increase is necessary, a letter will be sent to your current address on file, notifying you of any changes 30 days before the rate change takes place. Though rate changes are sometimes necessary due to market changes, Extra Space Storage works hard to provide value through competitive pricing, and by maintaining clean, safe and secure facilities with the highest level of customer service. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact your local facility at 408-769-0287." Again, "if" Extra storage sent a warning letter, it would have been returned to them as undeliverable. They had every means to contact me via phone, email. I responded with "why not increase the rate to $500,000? You can always claim to tried to warn, no? (since you're basically doubling the price to gouge?)" ExtraSpaceStorage has distinguished itself as a very crooked organization, showing the lowest ethical standards, obviously exploiting people's disadvantaged circumstances due to the COVID pandemic. Let's just say it, moving is STRESSFUL. And even though looking at a storage unit is a bit easier, it's confusing, takes time, and costs money we all feel like we don't have. JOSH made whole experience a walk in the park!!! My husband and I are moving while I am 35-36 weeks pregnant (woof..). All the (cheaper) mom and pop self storage facilities we had visited last week were in bad neighborhoods.. and I was worried going with a bigger company like extra space. After I put stubbornness aside, I made a visit to extra space on Lawrence thinking I wasn't going to get what we were looking for, or it would be too expensive. I didn't want to feel pressured into renting like oh there's only ONE more.. but it was a good experience off the bat! Josh welcomed me outside the door and opened it for my big pregnant self. He explained to me the differences in unit size, brand new Bluetooth capabilities, and pricing options, without making me feel overwhelmed, but instead, very taken care of. I really liked this facility. I needed to store books for several months and the building with my unit was in the back and pretty new. Jeremy and the other staff are polite and responsive, the property is clean, and my unit, which I used to store paper goods was clean and dry. No weird smells. Pretty temperature controlled. Perfect, really for what I needed. Compared to the Public Storage on Fair Oaks, which I tied before this and which is a rat infested, damp/leaky, moldy smelling facility in Sunnyvale, this experience was top notch. The location is also very conveniently located. Right behind a Costco and next to a train line, so pretty private, which I like. read more

Guys be careful. They will auto increase the rates without proper intimation I am paying 80$ per month and they increase rates to 149$ per month. They will not sent email or SMS. Jack up the rates each year by a lot. Had a break in over a year ago and their insurance that I was forced to buy at that time denied the claim. I list $2k plus worth of tools and telecom equipment. The replacement value costed me $2k plus. I had an appointment and Mark took me around the lot in the golf cart to look at the unit that I was interested in and also other available units as alternate options. BEWARE! This place looks nice from the outside but that's as far as it goes. When they blow the driveway areas most of the dirt and dust ends up in your unit. I stored my belongings in sealed metal cabinets with no food stuffs being stored and to my surprise I found rodent droppings everywhere. Also I didn't notice until I moved out that the roof had been leaking. They lure you in with low initial rent but it goes up quickly and in large amounts. I rented my unit at $180.00 per month and in 2 years it past $420.00 per month. read more

I have been a customer for almost a year. I have upgraded my unit from a 5x5 to a 5x10 with no issues, but today I tried to upgrade from my 5x10 to a 5x15 and was told the web rate is only for new customers. I received the web rate for my previous upgrade, but it is unavailable for this upgrade. I talked to corporate and they explained that "web rate" is actually a NEW CUSTOMER rate, and also that if I close my account it must be closed for 3 months before I can be considered a new customer again. I guess I will take my business elsewhere, since they do not want my money. Edit/Update since the owner responded to me: Do you not understand what the word "web" means? it does not mean "new customer" it means INTERNET WEB SITE. "Web rate" therefor means the rate you get from the web site. It does not imply new customer AT ALL nor is that written ON THE SITE. So it comes out as a scam. THEN your company DID let me upgrade at the web rate once no problem, that just reinforces the concept that it's a scam! You apply the rate when you want to, and not when you don't. Everything about this experience was shady, and your company has only three things going for it: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Your customer service both local and corporate is atrocious, your pricing is scammy, and the facility is nothing special by any stretch of the imagination. Seriously what kind of customer service representative actually verbally fights with an irate customer? Send them back to training, if they even had any. Summary of the two rate plans from this company: "Web" rate: The rate new customers are charged even if they walk in off the street and have never heard of the internet. Normal rate: The much higher rate they only charge loyal existing customers for being so troublesome as to upgrade or downgrade their unit. I guess they'd rather have a huge amount of turnover than loyal customers. read more

This is a wonderful storage facility! I could tell from the first moment - the office (and entire facility) is immaculately clean, well organized, well stocked, and the staff was extremely professional, helpful, and friendly. Mark is fantastic, and he runs this place so well. I have used other facilities in the past, and I always dreaded having to visit or trying to reach someone in the office. At Extra Space, I've always been able to reach someone in the office quickly - both on the phone and in person.- and I've enjoyed visiting because they make it such a nice experience. All of the staff is friendly and helpful, and I love how clean, safe (cameras everywhere), and high-tech it is. We used their online app to enter and leave with the electric gate, and we used it for accessing our storage unit. It's great to not worry about what you did with the keys or what the entry code is - just use the app. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage in Sunnyvale! read more

This is a mixed review about All Aboard in Sunnyvale. Overall, a negative impression. Pros: Well kept facility (not too dirty or cobwebby), can pay online, security pretty serious, close to where I live. Cons: After you've been there a few months, they jack up the monthly payment due I started renting there through a special promotion that ran out. Cool, exactly what I expected. Then 4 months in, I get a letter saying the rent will go up $2 more than I'm currently paying. I go to make a payment and see that it actually went up $11 dollars more my current price. What the hay?! I call the corporate office, they couldn't get me off the phone fast enough telling me to call Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale says they can't control the rental price changes or what's in the letters sent to Customers. Gee, awesome customer service. Of course, it's a big deal to move out of the storage unit so they really got you by the short hairs. I'm hoping the price doesn't go up too much more before I can get out of there. Beware. A warning to others before they get trapped in the rising storage rental fees. I've rented storage at other facilities around the San Francisco Bay Area. This is the first time I've experienced something like this rental fees hustle. read more

They assured me that if I leave during this time, they would reimburse me for those months not used. So, I prepaid rent for 2 years. But, left after one year. Now, after almost 2 months, they have not yet reimbursed me. They lied and lied. I escalated this to their headquarters. But nothing yet.. just more lies. I wasn't informed when I signed the lease that the price would increase after six months. They have a clause in the agreement which says anything/any terms in the agreement can be changed with 30 days notice. You can't just jack up the price like that, after you take the trouble of storing stuff. This information is not even mentioned in the website so kind of nefarious for a well known company. I have had my RV at this place for the last 6 months. Not the cheapest (& the rates have even gone up within the 6 months) but it is very hard to find RV storage in the bay area. They have now informed us that they are building a building where our RV is parked so we need to get out in the next month. A month is not much notice when Bay Area RV parking is so limited and now 50+ people are going to be looking for a space. For them to be building a new building and breaking ground in a month, they must have known this for a long time and to even put up rates during that time terrible customer service. Way too expensive. I have had this space for many years. I am at a point where I am clearing out and getting rid of most things. I will be going from a 10x20 down to a 5x10. My issue is the cost, I currently pay over $500/mo. The online prices show $221 web/$299 in store. This is absolutely insane. I have not spoken with the office to try and negotiate a better price. I feel I shouldn't have too. I would be willing to pay a fair rate which should be a standard and not "on a curve" which this seems like. The constant raising of the price is unacceptable. Since I have moved, I am no longer close to this location (although I am not too far), so I will be out soon. If anyone does choose this place, be aware of the price gouging. read more

SCAM ALERT - Monthly rate went up from $88 to $168 without any written notice 30 days prior the due date which I supposed to receive that was clear stated on the contract. I didn't find out about the rate increased until I was about to pay the bill 2 days before the due date. Because of that, I was not able to terminate the contract which required the customer to contact the rental location within 10 days upon receiving the notice before the effective day according to the Agreement. DISHONEST- Contact them to see if this ridiculous 90% raise was a mistake when I was about to pay 2 days prior the due date especially they still have promotion going on with only $68/mo for a better unit. The lady who answered said will let me know the next day after her "negotiation" attempt but never heard back. Called them back the day after and the same lady said was only able to lower the rate to $149 but I had to pay $168 for this coming month since I didn't contact them before the due date. She refused to listen and admit her mistake when I tried to correct her about the due date which clearly printed on the Agreement. Then I said I will move out and asked her if I could come the next day to clear my storage since it was almost 5:00 pm and I knew they will disable my access. But she again said I have to pay first since it is past due (which is absolutely incorrect) and threatening me they will have to auction my properties if my bill wasn't paid. Very sketchy on how they run the business...BE AWARE!! Also, suspect they lied about the size of my rental 5x10 but found this tag (attach pic) on the unit the first day. read more
