Public Storage is a nationwide bait and switch operation that engages in deceptive business practices.. For example, you cannot trust consumer ratings on the company's website which are all collected on the first day of move in and curated by the company to publish only the most positive of reviews. You will note that there is no way to publish an independent review of Public Storage on any of its websites after the first day of move in. Beware of reviews posted on Google reflecting satisfaction with the first day of move because the company facilitates their placement. There is also great similarity in all of their five star reviews raising questions to whether they are generated by individuals employed or hired by Public Storage to place them. Concentrate on reviews of Public Storage over the length of the rental experience. Note the significant discrepancy between Google and Yelp reviews of Public Storage facilities. PS can manipulate Google, but cannot manipulate Yelp. I am a deeply dissatisfied customer particularly because of Public Storage's bait and switch pricing practices. Without stating so, the company lures you in with a rental rate that is superficially reasonable. There is no opportunity to sign an annual contract or to lock in a long-term rental rate. In what I understand to be standard practice for this company, the company arbitrarily announced a 35% rent increase six months after I rented my unit raising my bill from $281 to $381/month. Public Storage claims the rent increase is due to supply and demand as well as seasonal price changes. This is a blatant lie. They are currently publicly advertising on their website an identical unit to mine for $189 a month, a teaser rate to trap their next victim . The rent increase is calculated to squeeze as much extra income as possible out of the renter while still making it uneconomical to hire movers to change to a different facility. In essence, once you store your stuff with them, they have you over a barrel and they will exploit that mercilessly. In another scam, your homeowner insurance likely covers your storage container. But Public Storage does not tell you that in advance. When you arrive with your stuff, they will not let you move in unless you buy insurance from them. Did they tell you that you needed to bring a copy of your insurance? No, they do not. When I objected to these practices, I was told they did not care. As a renter of storage units on and off for serveral years, for several different reasons, THIS STORAGE facility has THE BEST customer service!!! I first called the regular phone number, the customer service rep was very nice, patient with me and so very helpful. I set an appointment to see the unit the next day. I met with CARRIE. She was the MAIN reason I chose this facility. Her knowledge, expiriance and helpfulness was beyond what anyone would expect from a storage facility. I received a call from another storage facility the same day, they tried to reduce the rates just so I would rent from them, needless to say, there was no amount of money that was going to make me change my mind unless it was free!! Carrie was the selling point for me and even recieved a FOLLOWUP call from her a few days later to be sure all was ok with the unit!! How cool is that!?? Rent from Carrie. . . Talk about helpful. Nicole was extremely friendly and went out of her way to be helpful when she could have just gone home. I hadn't paid attention to the time when I went to bring more items to the unit. It had been several months since I was there and after several frustrating minutes I could not get the lock to open. I went to to the office to ask if they would come and help me. I had gone later in the day and got to the office as Nicole had locked the door and was leaving for the night. She listened to my predicament and kindly walked to the unit at the opposite end of the facility. Very quickly she opened the lock which had positioned itself in the latch where it needed to be wiggled and turned at the same time. Wish more places had such great employees! read more

Carrie was the most helpful person. I needed a small unit for a short period of time due to a divorce. After rental, she called to see if everything was going well. One month my payment didn't go through because I changed checking accounts. She called with a friendly reminder. I was very happy to get that reminder and not a late fee. After clearing out my unit this weekend I stopped in the office and asked what I needed to do next. She said that once they see the lock gone they consider my contract over. This is the second unit I've rented here in the last four years. I've been to others with friends, and you have to get out of your car to open the gates. I'm disabled, and at this location I can stay in my seat, so that's a plus! It's secure, the hours are great, and the staff has always been very nice to me. If I should ever need another unit I'll be back! In the meantime, I do tell people about your location when the subject arises. read more

I use the $1 teaser rate for an option period. Didn't end up needing the space, so hopefully I'm only charged the $1 + $20 setup fee. If you are moving, be sure to ask where the space is, as your moving truck many not fit under the overhead roofs. Carrie was nice, efficient, and thorough. I recently made teh acquaintence of a very nice person - her name was Carrie. She was kind, considerate, pleasant and very helpful. I didn't realize that people in this kind of job were usually this polite. If carrie is rated on a 1 to 10 scale I really believe she has earned a 20.
