Way too expensive rent keeps going up with no warning!! Ask for rental reduction but $-50.00 doesn't cut it moving out

If I could seriously leave zero stars, I would but right now before I go off I just wanna say thank you to the site manager Shakira for working her butt off and trying to help us as much as possible. It's just very sad that she also told the district manager or the property owner what should get done And nothing been done properly Maybe the owner should take better responsibility and take care of his customers since Saturday of June 14, 2025. Our storage unit got broken into not even a few days later we get another phone call saying that our other storage that we just moved from one spot to the next got broken into again Nobody lives on property anymore because I guess there's mildew growing in the house the property owner don't want to help take care of it the proper way the property owner don't even want to hire private security or put in better cameras, but customers pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars every month to make sure that their stuff is taken care Of we put our trust into the unit and nothing gets done. Thank God we have insurance but there's about 15 other families stuff that got broken into. I do not recommend public storage in West Sacramento at all. read more

I have had this storage for 2 years and was able to move my things out finally. There was some confusion with the District Mgr and having my lock removed. Nick was great and he gave me information for a locksmith. He was very helpful providing solutions to my problem. As I waited in the cool/AC front desk area waiting to let the locksmith in, Nick and I chatted. He was very friendly, kind and made me feel welcomed. He even came by to check my unit to see if the locksmith was able to remove the lock and how my move out was going. He's fantastic and much more present and engaged than the prior Property Manager from 2 years ago when I first moved in. read more

This place is the worst. Someone broke into my unit along with other people's units and stole half of my personal items. The people that worked there told me about it 2 months later and somehow could not find a clear video of the night the theft occurred. Even the Police say they have regularly been there due to burglary and have a hard time working with the people employed there. To add insult to injury, the insurance company used by public storage denied my claim due to "no visible evidence of forced entry" since the burgular just broke my "Public Storage provided" lock, lift up the sliding garage door and had a Christmas holiday on my personal property. Worst place ever and would never trust storing anything there. read more

No stars. I have been at the west Sacramento public storage for a little more than 5 years, 10×15. My rate was raised numerous times, twice during COVID, hit them while it's hard. The rent for the last month I was there was $350. Less than $100 when I got it. I asked them to pro rate four days so I could move my stuff after the first. I had to pay the entire month, to move out. No pro rating. Then in the middle of the move out month, a truck trucking out abandoned storage unit full of stuff, sees us sorting through stuff and decides to call police saying we were stealing because they have had issues with theives braking in, to which I was never notified, anyways we left to get water and the police were there, they pulled us over then at gun point painfully cuffed us while they made contact. Then apologized and said sorry for the mix up. As for the facility there are No cameras, there are bats are living in some units, mice as well. In my unit when I was leaving there wasn't a lot of mice poop but the poop was in my stuff. They just got a new manager but the other one was never in the office when I called. If your late with a payment they cut your lock after two months then when you pay you have to buy a new lock. Thanx. Also when we first moved in, either the guy on the other side of the back wall cut or we didn't notice it was missing the top of that wall, anyways he climbed through there and rummaged and stole stuff. Thank God we caught him before he emptied it, we told the manager, he said make a claim with the insurance and never fixed it we had to. I recommend getting storage somewhere else that has camera's. Make sure you walk the facility and see if mouse poop is out side the storage doors. It would flow out from the accesss door across from us like you wouldn't believe. When you do that make sure that it's in the evening so if the bats are there you will see them. I think the worse part is my boy friends friend rented a unit the month before I moved out a 20×20 and the rent was $84 a month for 6 mths then would go up to $96. That was the last straw. My rent was three plus times higher for a smaller size unit. In my opinion that's price gouging and when the state is in a state of emergency rent can not be raised, COVID, they did it twice. I'm not sure what % they are allowed to raise it, it doesn't matter they constantly raise it till the price is at least three times what a new customer is paying. It's just wrong. If price rates are based on the rise and fall of the market how is that guy's rent three times less than mine. If I could do it all over I would not have, in a million years rented a unit there. Incase you feel you need to know I got the unit Oct of 2018 and moved out June of 2023. read more

Someone followed my car in through the security gate when I was accessing my unit, attempted to notify the manager but there was no answer on the phone and no return call. read more

Very thorough about contract and expectations. She explained about all the products that are available at the office to assist in my packing process. She gave me prices and details on special packages. She informed me of their policy for reimbursement for unused boxes purchased which I did not know about. Process was free of hassle and price was exactly what I had seen online when I made my reservation. Great response time and immediate receipt of e-mail with application, reservation confirmation including their hours, contact numbers etc. All that you would need made available electronically in one email. Unit and establishment clean and well maintained. I got a 5x10 with drive up access. Unit does have a light that is on a timer to allow you to turn on after 6 pm. read more

I stored our 5th wheel here, and experienced theft and vandalism. My spare tire and wheel were ripped off and stolen from the back of the unit, and a battery was stolen. I later learned that non-owners have daily access to the yard--storing their equipment overnight. While I don't know who was responsible for the theft of my items, I question the practice of allowing non-owners unrestricted access inside the gates in early morning and late evening. read more

I'm keeping my stuff stored in a 10x10 for about about a month and half. Relatively cheap; although, it isn't really $1 for 30 days, you still have to pay insurance, lock, and a one time fee, so it adds up to about $51. If you're splitting it with someone, then it shouldn't be that expensive. For the remainder of my rental I'll probably be paying $68 for 2 weeks. So it is a bit pricey after that. Other than that, though, customer service is wonderful. Gina gave me a unit that she knew I would like. She was very friendly and informative. In a hurry, I dropped my phone in front of my storage and she took the measures possible to make sure I retrieved it, so she is definitely reliable and trustworthy. I received a call from them several days later asking me if I had moved everything in with ease, so that is definitely a bonus. As of now, I can't complain. Thanks Gina for your help :] read more

I've stored here for a few months and overall I'm happy. The complex is clean and safe feeling, especially compared to some storage facilities I've toured. The only suggestion I could make is that they really need to fix their camera system - althought the complex itself is very nice it is in the middle of a questionable industrial area next to the freeway... I'd sleep better at night if the manager hadn't told me it was broken. read more

My personal belongings were STOLEN from my storage unit. The thieves unbolted the door hinges from the wall. The hinges are on the OUTSIDE so it was fast and easy for them to get into my unit. The insurance that Public Storage offered, and that I PAID FOR, was worthless as they claimed "no forced entry." To this day, I still get nauseous when I drive by that place. read more

When I initially rented in Feb 2017at the west Capital, W. Sacramento was with some reservations but trying to be realistic, My experience was: Clean, secure, with friendly staff. Initial upfront costs higher than quoted on phone. Just be aware that you will have to get one of their padlocks & $11.00 per month insurance is strongly suggested by manager. Monthly rate increases within months of putting stuff in storage. (all red flags for the coming experience)NOW FOR THE MOVE OUT SHOCK AND AGGREVATION, JULY 2018. In May 2018, while paying my monthly bill, in preparation of moving out my items in storage, I went into the office and was told that, since I moved in on the 10th of the month, I had until the 13th of whatever month I decided to move before a bill for the month would be incurred. I organized my move around that information and had my help lined up for July 10th, the day of the month that I moved in. Coincidently, Public Storage sent me the July bill for an increase of $50.00 per month making the total $263.00. I immediately called and advised that I would be moving my things out by the 10th. I was told that I would be charged for the total monthly amount including the $50. increase as well as a late fee If I didn't pay by the 13th of the month, the complete total "no retroactive credit allowed anymore." (Like a bait and switch change of contract in the middle with no warning kind of shock reaction) .Company policy changed and I was told that the change happened the previous October 2017 and the Company policy says it doesn't have to give any warning either. I Must payor get sent to collections. but a request for consideration would be sent in to the district manager." When I arrived on the 10th, the woman at the counter was new to me. Not very nice and started the hard core collection lecture with me. Tried to get me to pay before I could get my stuff. Fortunately for me, I had my own padlock and not one of the Public Storage locks and reminded her that I had until the 13th to pay. Currently I was not late and ended the conversation. I was able to get all of my items but I am now dealing with the collection people. I have no doubt that I would have been locked out and my personal items would have been held hostage for the total of 30 days whether or not I used them. I plan TO CONTACT SOME CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES AS WELL AS BBB. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND UTILIZING ANOTHER STORAGE COMPANY BUT BE SURE THEY DON'T HAVE A CLAUSE THAT SAYS THEY CAN ALTER CONTRACTS WITHOUT WARNING AS WAS THE CASE HERE WITH PUBLIC STORAGE. I stored some stuff there for a friend of a friend for a few months. The rent is a bit pricy but not too bad until you figure in the mandatory insurance. If it were my stuff I would have taken it to where I have some stuff in Woodland where I have a much larger space for considerably less. However, the customer service is very good. When I went in today to clear up a couple of things and close out the account since I'm moving the stuff to Portland for the friend of a friend, Amber took good care of me. I looked online yesterday and found that Public Storage was the most reasonably priced facility in West Sacramento. I made my online reservation and a second after I hit submit, Alex from public storage was already calling me. She was great. She had everything all taken care of and ready to go when I arrived . Her co worker Bill did an excellent job explaining to me the gate, hours and such then showing me my unit. The customer service they displayed was exactly how it should be; friendly, professional and paperwork prepared. I have unfortunately experienced a case of bad customer service at a storage facility here in West Sac by Lowes. My life changes have forced me to rent another storage unit, but fortunately for me, Alex and Bill where there to help relieve some of the stresses that moving and starting over causes. read more
