I definitely prefer the newly remodeled Publix in Winter Park or the one in Baldwin Park. But this one is ok. The deli is all the way in the back, so it's not as convenient as the other Publix locations I'm used to. The pharmacy is convenient and they had the prescriptions that the Wekiva location didn't carry. I like the way the handicap parking spots are at the front of the store, so even without a handicap sticker you can still get a spot fairly close. It makes the quick in-and-out trips that much quicker! read more

This newer Publix is beautiful, clean, well stocked, really about everything you know and love about Publix. I truly wish they would take this model, and put it in Apopka for me (not that our Publix is bad, just not this fantastic). The staff is quite courteous and helpful, they an immaculate bakery and deli section, and the subs are of course amazing. Downsides here are the parking, it can be a bit cramped to get one of the closer spaces. The other thing I noticed is they truly were thinking when they did the layout for the store. If you go down the produce aisle, you will have to walk all the way around to the wine area before even getting to the main section of groceries. read more

Not really my favorite Publix (the new ones in Lake Mary and Winter Park are my current favorites, and I'm sure that the new one being constructed in Longwood/Altamonte Springs will be added to that list once it opens), but it's also not bad, either. I definitely think that it could use an overhaul, though - it's been around for a long time but doesn't seem to change much, if at all. I stopped by here a little more than a week ago to pick up a few things. Nothing about this store really stood out to me, save for the customer service. The cashier I went to when I was ready to pay was very friendly. To be honest, though, I really came to this location only because I was in the area and the store at the corner of S.R. 434 and Montgomery/Wekiva Springs Road is being reconstructed. I eagerly am anticipating the opening of that one ... This doesn't really have anything to do with the store, but the parking lot situation outside of this Publix is almost catastrophic. Cars pull in and out of parking spaces from a multitude of directions. Just about every time I've been here, some driver is going the wrong way down a lane in the lot. When there are multiple drivers in close proximity to one another, the majority of them don't know what to do or where to go. Cars come peeling around and into the lot from the Jamestown road (perpendicular to 434), too. Be careful if you find yourself in this parking lot. I saw a lot of perplexing driving when I recently was here ... it's a wonder that I don't hear about frequent accidents in this parking lot. This parking lot is like a black hole for common sense. Also, I think that the storefront pictured here is for the store at the corner of Palm Springs Road and S.R. 436. The one I'm trying to review is the store in Altamonte Springs near Lake Brantley High School and where Friendly's used to be. Ahh ... now I miss that Friendly's a lot. It ruled. read more

First time at this Publix and stopped here as its en route from office back to house. Lots of parking up front and nice wide aisles - there was also good mellow music streaming from the loudspeakers above. But the best bit was free wifi!! And really good powerful signal - I could check in to Yelp and write a review without any issues at all! Always go to publix only to pick up meat, fruit, veggies or sub sandwiches. Their staff is very friendly, they are very clean and everything is located easily. I appreciate the freshness of all the food! Publix is more of a place to go when you have the money to spend because compared to Walmart I spend on a $30 receipt to Publix would be $22 at Walmart. Pretty big difference in prices but if you go on a good bogo time then you might save there but Walmart & Winn Dixie still better on prices but you get what you pay for! Publix is still fresher, more friendly, easier to get in and out and that is very important for someone on the go! read more

I have ordered subs many times at this Publix and almost every time at least 2 or more are wrong. Don't get me wrong when they get it right they are great. My veggie sub clearly stated Munster cheese and had no cheese. Previously also lacking cheese and condoments, on several subs. The Gateway Crossings Publix was "my" Publix for five years. It's still by far my favorite and I often drive out of my way to go to this one rather than Hunt Club (which is a mile away from my house) because the selection is so much better here! I'm gluten free and this store has some of the best stocked shelves of any Publix. The associates here are the best ever! Always friendly checkout, usually really fast, the people stocking shelves will go out of their way five aisles over to help you find something, and the deli people are the best! Whenever the rotisserie chickens are still in the oven, I can ask for a certain flavor and they will pull it first and hand it to me as soon as the timer goes off before packing up the rest of them. I just came from there and I wanted to get a cake written on and I had bought my buttercream icing and all ingredients from publix the girl with dark hair and glasses at the bakery counter rudely refused to write on it because it wasn't a publix cake needless to say I will NEVER purchase anything at this location again. Debbie Hall told me about the stupid rule! Horrible customer service! They could have at least made a one time exception they wasted my time and my drive over there! I love Publix! The layout is awesome, there's a Deli, and everything is fresh! The staff here is always available to assist, helpful, and friendly! This location is convenient and never overcrowded with plenty of parking. I often buy food without viewing expiration dates, because I assume it is fresh. I can't do that with this store- more than a few times I've accidentally bought items that were curdled or far past expired, and had to return. Further, the man working in the deli recently, curly brownish blonde hair, was exceptionally unfriendly when I asked if there were any rotisserie chickens left. He acted like my question was a huge bother, though he works in the deli. Was a simple yes or no, but I also got lots of attitude. read more

I enjoy Publix subs, but I have noticed a disturbing trend in service. Placed online order at 11:47 for 12:15 pickup and at 12:40. Ordered 3 basic subs with no customizations. I could have gone through the line, which was 12 people deep and it would have been faster. To make it worse, no apology or explanation. Do not get anything through the deli! Went twice in the last week & the first time I went they were out of bread so offered me a wrap. How do you run out of bread at 2pm during a week day? My second time I went I ordered on the mobile app and waited 30 minutes to go pick it up. I arrived and it still wasn't ready. The lady rolled her eyes and walked off. A nice gentleman walked up and asked if I had been helped, I told him what happened and he seemed like it was a hassle but made my 2 subs for me. They were poorly made. This publix has the best assistant maneger. Had a small issue today and Jeff the assistant manager handled it and made sure I left a happy customer. I am new to the neighborhood and its not the first time I had the pleasure of meetin Jeff. In Aug on my very first visit. There was a problem with my card but funds were differently available. I explained that my kids were painting the new place and hungry waiting on me to bring food. He let me take food and come back when pos was working again. I offered to leave me card with him but he said with lots of empathy in his eys no. This man is so attentive. I love my new publix. Thanks Jeff. read more

I don't normally Yelp places like grocery stores or pharmacies, but when it comes to excellent service I'm happy to make an exception! I moved to the area recently and just started a new job. My health insurance didn't kick in until a few weeks ago. It was retroactive but last month I ended up paying out of pocket for one of my monthly prescriptions. This month, however, the pharmacist (Emad) made sure I was reimbursed for last month's expenses. I also spoke with him when I first moved to the area and needed help getting my prescription transferred from another location. Online subs - For a location that promotes online ordering this location is terrible at following printed instructions. I have ordered numerous times and the sub is always assembled sloppy and not once has the ingredients been correct. First a little background on this reviewer. A few years ago my body decided to fight me on what I was putting into it. I ended up in the hospital looking like I fell in a trellis of ivy that was covering a hornet's nest. Turns out I had developed allergies to a whole host of things that I ate regularly. Fine, whatever. Changed my diet and at the doc's recommendation, I went organic too. I was living in Central NY at the time and didn't even have to switch my Supermarket (Wegman's, woot woot). Great quality and variety of organic products at ridiculously good prices. Fast forward to now where I am a recent transplant to Florida. I can't exactly change my diet since I treasure my sanity but the prices for organic produce at Publix is exorbitant. Exorbitant, people! (yes I pulled out the fancy words). I didn't realize how good I had it in friggin' cold as balls Central NY. I'm not talking about a few cents diffence in pricing here. No, I'm talking about dollars in difference. As in 64 oz of organic juice being $3.49 vs $5.99. Seriously?! It's store brand juice! I can't even think of Public organic produce without a shudder. Some prices are on par with or higher than Whole Foods (gasp!). So now, this one-stop-shop girl bargain hunts. No gas wastage here at least. All the markets seem to be clustered together around these parts but it's still as annoying as picking up rice grains. Rant over, now onto PROs vs CONs PROs Great selection of almost everything (not so much the organics) Decent ethnic offerings Clean, well lit, well maintained shopping areas Pleasant, friendly staff Starbucks has nothing on them when it comes to locations Good, frequent sales CONs Pricing (I feel so bamboozled when I walk out) Selection of organic products Produce is never really super fresh (shop mostly on Thursdays) Seafood could be fresher (aren't we in Florida?) They are ready to help when you need it and ,on several occasions, have gone above and beyond good service to GREAT service. I want to say thank you so much to Sol in the bakery. On Friday, I sent my dad in with two pictures for two cakes I wanted for my daughter's birthday party on Saturday. He called me and gave her the phone and I explained to her how I wanted the cakes done. She really went above and beyond making these cakes and to do it the day before and be so perfect, I was amazed. She even added glitter on the cake when I picked up. I have always been a loyal publix customers, however my experience at this particular Publix makes me never want to go to any Publix EVER AGAIN! I had just moved to the area, and this store is only a few blocks away. I was so excited to have such an amazing super market just within a few minute drive. However, the customer service and deli food is absolutely disgusting! My husband had purchased a pound of chicken tenders at the deli the night before. Once we had arrived home and went to eat it we noticed it looked like they had used dark meat. It looked old, but we tried a couple of bites, only to realize it tasted as terrible as it looked. It was so terrible we couldn't eat another bite. The following day I went back to tell the deli manager the upsetting experience we had. I was told by the deli employees that the deli manager was not there, but they could get my the store manager. I said that was fine. While waiting for the store manager a deli associate walked up to me and aggressively asked what I needed. I told her I was waiting on a manger, however she continued to badger me about what I needed. I continued to tell her I was waiting on a manger. Only to be even more disappointed to see that this manager had just as terrible, if not worse customer service skills. The manager, "Greg," came over with a scowl on his face, and said nothing. I tried to explain my situation to only be cut off mid way, he obviously seemed extremely bothered and could care less about my experience. He said he would let the deli manager know and scurried off. I will never go back to this Publix knowing how poorly the customer satification is concerned. My intention was to do some shopping after, nevertheless after this encounter I felt so uncomfortable I left. If this is how the manager shows concern for the freshness of their food inventory I worry about how fresh ANY of their food is!!! read more

This Publix is close to my job which makes it convenience to go to during my lunch. The Deli is the worst ALWAYS but today they took it an extra mile and is the reason I am writing this review. As always long wait, slow staff whom need new batteries to move. After a 25 minute wait, I got a 6" Boars Head sub on white bread, I asked the woman to please cut the turkey for me "thin slice" she immediately had a bigger attitude- bigger because she already had one, I am guessing because it was busy and the line was long. She proceeded to cut my Boars Head turkey, I noticed she did not weigh it as its usually done by other employees in other stores but did not think anything of it. She added the mayo, cheese, and mustard. The following person added the toppings for me. Once I got to my office and began eating I saw that my sub hardly had any meat. My 6" sub had meat on one half of the sub, and no she did not over stuff the one side that she did put meat on. I paid for Boars Head Turkey sub with basically no meat. This is ridiculous! This Publix needs to hire trained and well qualified employees to work the deli even if it means pay a bit more. This is just one issue of many that I have to share but due to lack of time I will not share at this time. read more
