Through no fault of Trader Joe's itself, it's just no longer a peaceful shopping experience. Since this is my closest store, I'm still trying to figure out a good time to visit. It is always so crowded that you can't take your time to browse. The aisles aren't very wide, shopping carts are everywhere, and there are constantly employees stocking shelves and walking back and forth while you're looking. Sometimes the employees seem oblivious to customers trying to shop, which gets frustrating. I personally like Trader Joe's because I'm a single person household, and they have a lot of small packaged items that are perfect for me. I still appreciate that they have quite a few vegan and vegetarian friendly options, great snacks, some of the best prices on organic fruit, and, of course a fantastic wine selection and flowers. Prices have slightly increased, but you find that at all grocery stores lately. Things definitely add up! Their customer service is still pretty decent for the most part, and the parking lot can sometimes be a challenge. But overall, shopping here is just not what it used to be.

Upon walking in I was surprised at how clean the store is and how open the floor plan is. Great Job, Management. Wayfield will always be the Meat Gem of grocery stores as their 5 for $24.99 is unmatched when it comes to Grocery Retailers. As such, it was time for some meats, I was in the area, thus I landed here. Along with the clean store and open floor plan (as most Wayfields are usually super crowded) the selection was awesome. Everything was in stock. The meats presented pretty cuts, and best of all, there wasn't any kind of odors coming from the meat department. Along with getting my 5 for $24.99, I stocked up on a few seasonings. I was surprised at the pricing for the bottles of seasonings in relation to how big they are. I had to grab a few. Lastly, my checkout process was quick and simple. There were multiple lines open. The cashier was very friendly. As was the security guard by the front door. Overall, I had a pleasurable shopping experience at this Wayfield! I will make this my go-to location when I'm near the area. #HappyShopping

The cleanliness stood out because none of the Wayfield locations that I've previously visited can compare. The prices were very reasonable. I purchased snow crab legs for $6.99 a pound and a 2 pound bag of colossal Argentinean red shrimp for $14.99. The staff were friendly and helpful. Cons: The produce was a little iffy and they were out of the all flat wings that Wayfield typically carries.

Then the produce is right there and I love how color coded it is. Everything green together, everything yellow together, clearly labeled organic and not organic. I also really like that you can scoop your own brown rice and dry goods and only pay for what you need instead of buying a whole bag. As a chef, that makes sense and saves money. The store is easy to get through and the workers actually know the whole store. You can ask where something is and they will tell you the exact aisle and shelf. I shop here a lot for clients so I can get in and get out fast because I know where everything is. They have a butcher section, fresh seafood, a hot bar, and even the slice of pizza I got was good. The cashier was the highlight. I did not get her name but she deserves recognition because she noticed the scanner cord was sitting on the scale and told me it was adding weight and charging me more. My friend kept calling it a seafood dip, so I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. I was genuinely impressed by how eager everyone was to help. Employees from multiple departments worked together to figure it out, and we eventually discovered it was a seafood salad thawing in the back. That level of customer service made a great impression. I've already been back since that visit. I've always shopped at DeKalb Farmers Market or Whole Foods, but Fresh Market has unique products, a smaller and more enjoyable shopping experience, and excellent service. Lately I've been focusing on eating healthier, so I don't mind paying a little more for higher quality food, especially when it's paired with such a great customer experience. I won't be coming back after what I witnessed today regarding food handling and sanitation…read more I ordered chicken wings, and the employee handling my order did not change gloves before preparing my food. Instead, she grabbed a pair of tongs that had been sitting on the counter with visible sauce residue from another food item still on them and used those same tongs to pick up my chicken wings. It was incredibly unsanitary. I have no idea how long those tongs had been sitting there, what foods they had previously been used for, or whether they had been cleaned. The employee herself seemed unsure which tongs to use, which only made the situation more concerning. I also observed another employee repeatedly handling food without changing gloves. He was in the back cutting and preparing meat, then helping customers, touching the scale, touchscreen, and other surfaces with the same gloves before returning to continue handling the meat. Gloves are supposed to prevent contamination, not transfer bacteria and residue between food, equipment, and customer-contact surfaces. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've noticed these sanitation issues at this deli. I've seen similar practices on previous visits, and it appears to be an ongoing problem rather than a one-time mistake. For the prices customers are paying, basic food safety standards should be expected. Cross-contamination and improper glove use are not minor issues, especially in a department handling ready-to-eat foods. On a positive note, the fish market on the other side is consistently clean, professional, and appears to take sanitation seriously. The difference between the two departments is very noticeable. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and provides additional food safety training for staff. What I witnessed today was unacceptable and left me with very little confidence in the cleanliness and food handling practices of the deli.
