I am a personal assistant to several elders in the area. The only thing that I do for them is shop. I arrived to this Publix location around 8:00 a.m. today I was shopping for some green and red grapes in the small containers. They had a few other options but not what my client had wanted. They had two real nice ladies behind the counter they offer to fix a small container for me. I told them thanks, and I advise them that I would be back to pick up the grapes. On my way back my client text me and ask if I could get two more I told her I'm sure I could. So as I begin to ask the ladies about adding two more containers, this loud, disrespectful, rude, distasteful man interrupted and demand that they will not fix no more for me and told them not to every do it again. I found out that he was the produce mgr. The name on his badge was Al. I've shop at Publix for many many years and I always categorize them as the chic filet for supermarkets. Because of their exceptional customer service that you receive from the employees. They go above and beyond to assist you if they can. Publix is not a good fit for that manager he is horrible to the customer and to the employees that work under him. As I past back through the department to pick up other items. He shouted BOY I TELL YOU!!!! Really loud and directed it to me. I just kept shopping so that he could finish completing his tantrum. Any way Mr Alix and Reginald was very very helpful and gave excellent customer service. I gave them each a star. Al seem to have some sort of angry issues/problems. So sad

Okay guys. I'm back at Publix East Lake. This time I'm avoiding the deli like I avoid plague. Just need to exchange something from the bakery so I should be okay. Right? Yes! Easy and breezy service from the service line. In and out in no time. Thank you Publix gods. I even had a second to chat with the beautiful Lady, Gwen, that does the cooking demonstrations. I swear she is like that Auntie that invites you over for food and good conversation, except it's Publix. I'll take a pic with Gwen next time so you can say hi to her next time you stop in. Thx

Seven people in line at pharmacy at 7:20pm. Transferring prescriptions elsewhere.

Waited almost 30 minutes for a sandwich from the deli. The deli staff was extremely lax about the long line that was forming.

Great grocery. They have a nice variety. I'm always having a fun conversation with the cashiers -- trading recipes or some such.

Best grocery shopping on east side. Clean, well stocked, and everyone in the store was super friendly and courteous.

I went this past week because I was looking for 2 specific items that I wasn't able to find at 2 other large Asian markets. Someone had suggested this Market because of the extensive ethnic choices. It has Asian (Korean, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Filipino), European, South American, Hispanic and American items. There are sections that have premade Asian meals, fresh seafood, extensive fruits and vegetables, frozen foods, pantry staples, bakery items, almost anything you might want. It's a large market and you could spend hours going up and down the aisles exploring. I was surprised to find they even had a favorite pop that I only thought I could get in Michigan. Now I know that I can go here and get it, without having to have it ordered online. It can get busy on the weekends when everyone is doing their weekly shopping, but I went later in the day and was able to find parking and not bump into people or long lines.

It has slowly gone downhill since then. I have bought their quart container of squeezed pink grapefruit juice many times, it used to be very reasonable. For the past couple of months the price has risen to $13.99 a quart !!! Whole Foods has the same thing for $8.99. Other sources are no where near $13.99. That's price gouging. All the daily house hold products are also much higher than Target, Walmart, Kroger, Publix. I cannot believe people pay the prices. Unless they are on special, berry's and fruit's are more expensive than Publix or Kroger and they look like they are second or third tier quality. The same for the vegetables, some literally still have dirt on them and are definitely poor quality. I bought sushi the other day at the counter in the back, for the price it was great. I decided to buy extra Wasabi, there were three kinds on the counter. None had a price, not on the container, not on the shelf. I asked the person behind the counter what were the prices, they said they didn't know, I would have to carry the wasabi literally diagonally across the store and get a price. The person couldn't call and ask ?!?! How does an employee not notice these items are not priced !?!? I have always loved the cafeteria, their entrees are delicious. Now some of the trays have nothing in them and some have been sitting in the trays and have a skim on the top because they haven't even stirred them up obviously for hours. 40% off after 4;30pm, great deal, but half or more of the food is gone, by 5pm they have pretty much closed up. The Mex part is closed at 4:30pm. So sad, a great resource, just about ruined. They also used to have cooking classes, which were great. They haven't had a class in years. Today I go in and by 4 items, the lines are long, so I took it to the quick checkout near the entrance. A person in front of me had over 10 items, each bag was like 5 pounds of vegetables each. He was not an employee, be paid cash. I asked the cashier so the line is no longer 10 items or less? She shrugged her shoulders !!! There used to be 10 items or less registers, at least two. Both of those have been long gone. It looks like BHFM is adding self checkout, the registers are installed and have sat there 2 years !?!? Still not open. With skyrocketing grocery prices and the competition in the area BHFM management needs to wake up. The outside isn't looking its best either. I hate to write this, but come on BHFM !!! Yes, there are some good deals, especially specials, but they are no where near the quality / price of Whole Foods or Dekalb Farmers Market. The same for H MART, I want competitive pricing and quality products, as a local, the "novelty" effect means nothing to me.
