When you walk into the store there are empty stations. It's a smaller Publix so it's easier to navigate but it always feels like it's missing something. The bakery used to be so nice with custom cakes, breads and pastries. Now it's just prepackaged cookies, donuts and a birthday cake or two. The vibe feels like a Fresh Market that lost its identity. For a location that's right behind Town Center it's in one of the nicest areas of Boca. It should feel upscale, Instead it feels empty and deserted. This store has the potential to be a unique upscale Publix . Instead, they're gonna let it just whither away.

Aisles were heavily inventoried and items fronted. The larger than life popcorn barrel in the deli drew my attention with overflowing 7oz bags for $2.49, great idea for home movie night (see pic). We always take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals at Publix. Purchased the Carb Balance taco wraps 2 for 1, which are normally expensive at $5.49 per pouch. Checked out with a live smiling cashier and left the dangerous parking lot unscathed.

So today with a bit of surprise I was happy to see The Fresh Market had a bag. I signed up, ran some errands, then stop in close to the end of the window that was provided(8PM). It was a quieter time so i walked up to the clerk checking people out to ask where to get the bag. The bag boy said "I'm yer guy". I showed him the code on my phone and he hustled over to a fridge right in the front. Boom, I had a huge bag of goods. I love a surprise so I waited till I was hoe to see what what inside, Muffins, cookies croissants oh my! And a few more things too to complete the order. I will be back soon to do some shopping I think, but I'm pretty sure I will be back again for a surprise bag as well.

There's always a beautiful selection of fresh flowers and the day I was there they had gorgeous orchids very reasonably priced. The chicken cutlets here are very good and they run them 25% off on Thursdays. Picked up some of the Pecan Breaded cutlets and some of the Nashville hot cutlets. I've never had the hot ones before, but I'm sure they're just as good as the others. I find the quality of the food is a little higher than your basic grocery store. They run specials every day and if you join their email list, you'll get a notification in the morning and you can plan your shopping and save a little money at the same time.

It's a Germany company and they do things differently to keep the prices very, very low. Most folks aren't used to cart deposits. Yes, you will need to insert a quarter into the lock to release the cart. You get it back when you return the cart. This saves ALDI the cost of an employee running around the parking lot to bring the carts back. Most folks aren't used to bringing their own shopping bags. Yes, ALDI will sell you bags instead of the usual unlimited bags (at least here where the government doesn't require selling them). Oh, and you'll be bagging your own groceries instead of an employee doing it. The selection is limited, generally only a single brand of products and that generally isn't a name brand. ALDI's generic brand is very good but people may prefer a name brand. All of this and more to keep the payroll costs down. There generally aren't more than four or so employees in the store at any time. Low cost for them translates to low prices for you. They carry some of the same items that Trader Joes carries and I know there is some family relationship involved, but they do operate as separate entities. This store is easy to find. It's at the opposite end of the Target shopping center on 441 and Palmetto Park Rd. There's plenty of parking in the lot right in front. The fruits and vegetables are always a good choice and so much less expensive than Publix. One of my guilty pleasures and I can't leave without at least 1... the chocolate bars! I absolutely love the the dark chocolate with almonds and at $2.29 for a 5 ounce bar... it's a steal!!!

If you make a purchase before the 24th, you receive a $10 coupon toward meat or seafood for next week. The store itself was very clean and organized. However, I was surprised to see that many of the produce shelves and the chicken and meat cases were not fully stocked. It wasn't late in the evening either I was there around 4:30 PM while plenty of customers were shopping. I honestly expected to see staff actively restocking the shelves. I picked up some spices, but overall I wasn't especially impressed with the selection or presentation at this store.
