Publix in Metrowest closed last year to undergo renovations. We been going to the Windermere and Kirkman Publix instead when they were doing renovations. I waited almost a year for it to reopen, looking forward to the changes. When it reopened, it looked modern, but I found it to be sterile as well. The lightning looks a bit more dark, and the space a bit more cramp. I do like the new deli area in the front, with the very nice Publix sandwiches, salad, and fried chicken offered. I also really like to sushi area, and they now serve rice bowls and ramen at reasonable prices. While the portions are a bit small, it is really tasty. The meat and fish area look a bit smaller, but the dairy area is spacious in the back. The bakery is also a bit smaller, as well as the pharmacy, but they do the job. The frozen isle is in the middle, and I wish they had more seen selections of the Hagan Daz ice cream flavors. I rarely see the green tea flavor anymore. Now there are separate doors for entering and exiting. And their famous scale is gone. Now I can't find out my weight over there anymore. That's like if Meijer got rid of their one cent mechanical horse ride (Sandy) from their stores. Sad! There are self checkout lanes available, with their famous Costar security cameras watching you and TVs letting you know that you're being watched. At least they still have ample amount of regular checkout lanes with friendly staff checking you out and bagging your items. I believe they still offer to take your items to your car if requested, and have the no tipping policy. I see management occasionally guiding shoppers to the proper checkout lanes and staff showing shoppers where to go for an item. While the renovated Publix looks a bit stale to me, it still has great amenities and staff needed to be a nice supermarket. They still have their BOGOs tool, so you can get good deals. The staff are friendly, which makes shopping here a pleasure. While it isn't as nice as Windermere, it's definitely better than the Kirkman branch. It's still a good Publix closest to the Metrowest area. Overall: B+ read more

As I headed to the checkout line, I noticed there was only one cashier open with at least five people waiting, and all the self checkouts were filled up with a line waiting. Today my husband and I came in the store about 12 noon or something like that. we were cashing in Lottrery scratch off tickets. The associate took my tickets and then asked me did i pick one up off the ground. I told her no and asked her "What do you mean?" She said a customer dropped a ticket that was a number ticket I Had. Then she held my tickets and said she was calling her manager, Why? I told her we just came straight from our truck to customer service, and we did not pick anything up, she said he had to review cameras, I was so embarrassed and people were staring as if we stole something. She eventually cashed us out after calling some guy who has no customer service training also. he did nothing to correct her behavior. We are frequent shoppers here. we come 4- or 5-times a month, 2 or 3 times a week. We shop here because we can afford to so picking up or taking something from some one is not what we are about. This Publix is the closest to my house, so I go there all the time. The workers are always friendly and willing to help. The bakery area always smells delicious. I tend to shop early in the morning during the week so it's pretty quiet. There are multiple workers that I stop and talk with like we are friends. My favorite is the five dollar sushi on Wednesdays. I also love using their app. There are multiple digital coupons and occasionally free items. I am a coupon, so I love stacking the Bogo sales with coupons to get really good deals. The produce is fresh, the stores are bright and clean, and I always find something on their bogo section right in front (and usually in the isles too!). It is sad to look at my older reviews and see that this store has been let go by Publix corporate. If you try to shop at this location, you will be disappointed to say the least. The store is poorly staffed from the management level on down. If you go after 5 pm you most likely will be caught in a frustrating situation. There are long lines in most departments. The staff are slow and not happy. There are not enough staff to handle the customers. The store has not been updated in many years. If you have the time to go to the location at Apopka-Vineland. This five star review is specifically for this Publix Bakery department. My sister was having a barbecue themed baby shower, and she wanted a special cake. Without wanting to break the bank, and for serving a smaller party, I thought I would check out Publix. I have always loved Publix made cakes and their icing. I went through their book of decorated cakes to order, and came across this burger cake, that I knew would be perfect for the shower. This is actually a seasonal cake they put out during July 4th and in the summer time. The cake top includes real sesame seeds (!!), the "buns" are made of vanilla cake, and the "meat" is made of chocolate cake. They were even able to write a message on top to personalize it! The cake was almost too cool to cut and eat, but we managed, and it was just as tasty as it looked. It was a huge hit at the party, and everyone loved it. Publix did a great job with this cake, and I will definitely consider this bakery for future cake needs. read more

Nice and clean as most Publix are. However, lately customer service has not been very...helpful and friendly and I know that Publix pride themselves in that. Well, used to. It seems that a lot of the employees try to avoid you in the aisle and some won't even acknowledge you when you pass by them. Cookies for the little ones has definitely been a hit or miss. Sometimes they will have it and some days they just don't. Also, a lot of the products there are just overpriced. This pharmacy will be closed for a remodel for a year on July 6th. I have been going there probably 15 years or more. I stopped in this morning to say goodbye for awhile. The head pharmacist is a rather bald light-skinned black man [I should know his name but don't]. He has been patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and an all around STAR employee!! Like family. EEEEEEEH reviews are accurate. This is a pretty sad lookin' Publix. It's a smaller footprint, and when all Publix's already have a unique design, it made it a little more challenging than most to find well..anything. So add that to the fact that it's definitely seen better days, and probably hasn't had an refresh in years it makes for an all around meh shopping experience. All in all, it did not feel like a Publix. In their major defense, I was visiting on Christmas Eve and the lines were moving quickly and plenty of staff was ready to help in aisles. read more

I have been going to Publix since 1973 in Florida, this store in Metro west area was a fine store with fresh fruits and vegetables now it's disappointing to see the rotten fruits and vegetables on display. The employees are still friendly and helpful and the meat department will cater to your requests. The metro west area is not the residential area I moved in 2001, it has surprisingly deteriorated a lot after living in other states for the past 18 years and moving back to Florida it's not the same. read more

The Deli here is THE WORST! I came in after work for a rotisserie chicken and they said it would be 30 minutes so I thought ok well I will just get a couple of subs....they have THE MOST limited sub menu but they encourage you to ask for favorites if you don't see listed- I asked for my husband's Mojo pork and the lady had to ask someone and then go to the back to find some sauce..so then I asked for a FEATURE sub and she didn't know the ingredients and so we had to wait while she found this and in the meantime she changed plastic gloves about 5 times- so at least we were germ free- one positive. My turkey sub was very delicious- so I must give the woman making the sub credit for making a very yummy sub for me. By the time I got my subs- the rotisserie chickens were DONE!!!!! AAAAAHHHH!!!!!! AND at least 5 other sub customers had come and gone. EPIC FAIL Publix Deli! It's DINNER HOUR! Have EXPERIENCED people working the sub counter! The lady handling the chickens was really sweet and efficient BTW! The kids who checked me out up front were great, too. These 3 people are the ONLY reason you got any stars at all. read more

I love this Publix! I have been going here for years. The customer service here is truly exceptional. The staff who works here is super helpful and goes above and beyond. I have learned to utilize the order online method. Well let's see because apparently I am not the only one who loves this place, so the online method is super convenient and my food is always ready. I love the selections of soups they offer, and their amazing sushi variety. I find everything I need and everything I want. I have never had any issues with the quality of food or customer service. I will be the first person to say I love Publix. Normally everyone is nice and extremely helpful to me being in a wheelchair. Last night was awful. I went to this location because I needed to pick up a birthday cake. I've only been to this store twice and I will probably only go there again because I HAVE to. I went to the bakery to get my cake, checked it out and it was fine. Then they go to hand it to me and I just stare at them. Shall I carry it on my head like i'm in some african tribe? It wasn't even like a jolt of realization came to her that maybe I need someone to take this cake to the front because I can't wheel and hold a cake at the same time. I still had other things to do so I asked her if she could hold onto it while I grabbed someone to help me. I didn't want to take her away from the dept since she was the only one back there and she never offered. After getting the cake to the car, I went back in to use the rest room. That. Was. Awful. In our local Publix in Altamonte there is a big stall with enough room to fit a sink and a baby change table. I like that because at least i know it's big enough to fit my wheelchair. This was not the case here. I had just enough room to shut the door, and I had to squeeze past my wheelchair to the toilet. I cut my leg on my wheelchair because I had no room to move and when I went to complain to the front service desk all I got in response was "Oh. Sorry about that" while he continued helping other guests. In any other Publix, if you hurt yourself on their property they at least give you a heartfelt apology. At least now I know I need to plan ahead for bathroom trips. read more

Came here on a busy new years eve evening, all the lines were long but that's expected. The deli was chaotic and the lady behind the rotisserie was yelling out for help, possibly a new member. Aside from that, I was politely greeted by a gentleman behind the deli through the midst of the chaos. I ordered a whole publix turkey sub on white bread along with a half publix turkey on white as well. (my normal order is their italian sub on white). If you like chipotle sauce, you will love publix's version as it is one of the best I've ever had! My subs were tasty as i could always remember. The bread had a nice crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, just how I like it! He ended up charging me for Boar's head instead of the regular, but that's okay. I understand it can be highly stressful on nights like these. Publix has always been great with their customer service. I've never had a problem here. Some things for you to know if you've never been here: If you are unsatisfied with any of your purchases, you can bring it right back and they will gladly refund or exchange it for you. (Yes, even if you bought pork chops, fried them up, and then realized they had a funny taste) I will gladly recommend this publix and mostly any publix to any one of my friends. read more

It's a supermarket so I do not ask for much. What I do ask for is friendly service when I have to deal with a counter service such as the deli or hot food counter. When you have a supermarket that offers "fresh" hot rotisserie chicken there is no excuse or reason why when your store does not close until 10pm, when a customer comes in around 8:45pm and asks for a chicken they should not be told "we ran out hours ago, we have chilled one" Very frustrated! read more

Come here often for groceries and publix subs. The store itself is stocked and clean. No complaints, it keeps up with publix standards. Where things go down hill is the deli service. - that moment when the publix employee grunts at you and starts shoddily throwing ingredients on your sub and you think to yourself "I don't want this crappy sub!". Don't know if they need to pay employees more for them to care but at least subway sandwich artists greet me and thank me for coming. So I wanted to say first that every other department in this publix is excellent. They are super friendly and the reason why I pay the extra money to shop here instead of walmart. I am giving the 1 star for their pharmacy. It is a joke. My personal experience with the pharmacist helped me find the CVS on Conroy (which btw I highly recommend for all of your pharmacy needs). He is very rude but always seems to make you look like an addict.... I don't even get narcotics, I get a monthly script of zoloft.... but basically demands refills to be picked up on the exact day every month. He yells anytime he speaks to anyone (which isn't often). My son was prescribed adhd medication (to clarify first, I do not know at the time of the narcotics laws), I went to pick his medication up one day 2 days early and he started screaming at me about he isn't going to jail for someone like me. The gentleman helping me at the register explained that they could get in trouble for filling it early and was very friendly and apologetic. I thanked him for giving me an explanation because I was completely lost. That experience was a year ago. My husband just went there to get allergy medication and a non-narcotic anxiety medication. Well he unfortunately had the pleasure of dealing with the same pharmacist. He didn't say hello to him, he just yelled a question at the cashier about whether or not he "even had insurance." My husband have the lady his insurance card. She acted as if she put it in the system but when he came back the next day they didn't put it in and tried to make him pay the full price which was over 200 dollars. He then had to give her the card again to find out they misspelled his last name.... so we will never get our prescriptions from this pharmacy again as long as that pharmacist still works there. Although we love every other experience from every other department there. We haven't had another bad experience ever from that publix (which we have been going to weekly for 3 years now). read more

My only problem is there are a lot of old Lotto "professionals" who come here with their book of tickets and spend about 10-15 mins buying their hoards of numbers while am waiting just to buy 1 scratch off or quick pick ticket which takes 5 seconds!! So, I used to work and live right down the road and would shop here often. Most of the staff is super friendly, but the constant downside is their deli staff. Every time I'd order a sub, I'd get the grumpy woman with the voice that sounds like she just smoked 20 cigarettes at once followed by a few swigs of Jack. No matter what I ordered, she would growl "I gotta cut the meat!" and storm off. At first I shrugged it off, but after the 50th time I wanted to shout "You work in a motherfucking deli! Of course you have to cut meat!" Another time I stood in line with 5 other people as 7, yes SEVEN deli workers chatted amongst themselves with their backs to us. Finally, the jerky guy with the 70's porn star mustache turned around to see the crowd of us. Oh good, he's going to help. Nope! He chuckled, made a joke about the line and told his co-workers he was going on break! Then, get this, the asshole went on break! Well, that was quite awhile ago so I hoped things had changed and stopped in recently to grab a sub. At the deli counter I stood in line and spotted a picture of their sub of the week, it looked delicious plus it was $1 off, so when it was my turn I told the zombie behind the counter I would like the sub of the week. "What's the sub of the week?!" she asked I pointed to the sign and she said "What the...nobody told me about any sub of the week...what's on it?" I assumed she was asking me what I wanted on my sub so I told her I'd take it exactly as it was advertised on the sign. "no", my frustrated deli clerk said, "I'm asking you what is on the sign, we ain't gut no sign" Ok, I know it may burn about 2 calories for her to reach the 18 inches and turn the sign to read it for herself, but really, she should have done it anyway. Instead, like a moron, I began to read the ingredients to her. Clearly this was a bad idea because she as soon as I began to read she turned her back and began to talk to he woman frying chicken about her weekend. I took this as a sign and just decided to go somewhere else. read more

I was very disappointed when I went into this Publix. I usually have a great experience when I go that's why I am a frequent shopper there. However, I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription and I got there two minutes after they were closed. The pharmacist there was extremely rude to me and wouldn't give me my prescription. I asked him very nicely and he just shrugged his shoulders, rolled his eyes and ignored me. What if I had desperately needed that medication? I understand that they have hours of operations, but they had just closed and he was standing in the pick up area. read more

I love this Publix!!!! I have been shopping here for 20+ years. I am always greeted with a smile and Hello form several employees as I walk through the store. I love seeing all the familiar faces, many of the employees have been there for a very long time. The ladies in the deli are amazing!!! They are all so pleasant and always take the time to catch up with me and ask how my family is doing. The bakery is amazing too!!! Not only are there baked goods fantastic so are the people, they are always there with a smile offering my daughter a cookie:) We also use their Pharmacy which I have also been very impressed with. Prescriptions are filled very quickly and the Pharmacist is always available to answer your questions. I have been to many other Publix's in Orlando, including ones in areas that some would consider more upscale, but I will tell you I will go to this Publix over them any day!!! read more

My boyfriend and I used to be regular customers at this location, we regularly placed online orders and did most of our grocery shopping there. However, the last three times I've gone the deli has messed up my order. One time they even called to verify what I wanted but when my boyfriend got there he had to wait 15 minutes past the scheduled pick up time, only to find out that they once again made us the wrong food. He was so annoyed he didn't even take them back inside. Once we started eating, we noticed there were still feathers in many of our wings. Long story short, I called and spoke to a manager twice and I'm so fed up with you guys that I couldn't even summon enough of a crap to give over a refund. Been going here since 2001. Formally a great five-star Publix that eroded with a management change a few years ago and the conversion of the Dr Phillips location. For me it went to 1 star during that phase as they got less product and the management team became non-existent along with customer service. Many of the good people there left. Now the manager has changed and they are improving again. I am cautiously optimistic hence the 3 stars. But I expect that number to increase. Gail who cooks and presents the sample foods is amazing. Charlie the bagger who has been there for years is also a highlight. The teams in the deli, seafood, and sushi are also great. read more

I shop at this Publix location 3 - 4 times per week for nearly a year and I must say that I truly enjoy shopping here. I love how well the store is laid out and everything is easy to find. The shelves are always stocked neatly and they are rarely out of items. If I ever have trouble finding something, the staff is amazing at helping me out and always very friendly about it. I also love that they have a Greenwise section in the store which is dedicated to a healthier selection of food. Although I do wish this section was a little larger and they had a larger variety of organic foods. Another great part of this store is the meat department. If they do you have the cut of meat that I am looking for already out, the butcher is willing to cut a custom steak for me. Overall, I feel that the price, experience and selection is great and I will continue to shop here for many years to come. read more
