Everytime I go over to the Deli and there is no one in line I stand there and wait and wait! I will be waiting there for 20mins No one comes over to help me. I have to go over to the hot food area and ask someone to help me. Like what is going on? Then when I ask for an item and how I want it sliced they screw it up! ALWAYS. I am so fed up with that or there are flies flying all over the place there where they are slicing the lunchmeat and the slicer needs cleaned off cause my lunchmeat I get has pieces of ham or roast beef. Pharmacy is well staffed and managed very good. The staff is so friendly and efficient. I've dealt with many pharmacies over the years and excluding Covid related issues this Publix along with its pharmacy are top shelf. Makes me glad, I trust them with my meds, my info, and they've earned it. Plus the hundreds of surprises BOGO throughout the store, we sometimes get to try new things for 1/2 off that we'd never buy. I stop in for sub sandwiches sometimes and even though they seem to stay busy & can get backed up, I don't mind because I know they are honestly trying their best, even when they get overwhelmed. First time ordering a sandwich. I got a large roast beef sandwich with double meat, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and avocado for $11.49. The lady making the sandwich was supper sweet and this was the best sandwich I have had in years. It was large enough fir 2 meals. Great place for sandwiches!!!! read more

Publix is an Awesome Grocery store offering a wide variety of International, Handmade, Organic and quality products. I absolutely love this store. It's bright, clean, welcoming, colorful and full of life. Full of Unique products that you can't find anywhere else. The employees are friendly and make you feel welcomed as they walk past you and ask you if you need any assistance finding anything. Also, at the front of every store there is someone preparing a delicious meal called Aprons Cooking which also teaches you how to prepare quality meals at a fraction of the time. My shopping trip starts off by looking at the circular online. From there I match up what is on sale with the digital coupons. I click on my desired coupons and it's loaded to my account which I can use at the register by typing in my phone number. It's super user friendly so it's not difficult to achieve maximizing your shopping dollar. I then drive off to the Summerville Publix (about a mile from my office), the parking lot is clean, well lit and spacey ( plenty of room of lots of shoppers). Even the shopping carts are in pristine condition and there are antibacterial wipes near the buggy stands to allow you to wipe off the handles. I stop by the Aprons Cooking to see what meals are being prepared, take a sample, get a few recipe cards and proceed on to get my groceries. I look around to see what is new and what I can try out next. I love trying new foods and some prove to be beneficial for our health ( a score nonetheless). The check out lines are never long, always a cashier waiting with a smile, and a bagger available to bag your purchases and help load them on to your car. This is my weekly stop and definitely a place to go weekly. I highly recommend Publix as a family friendly grocery store. read more

We love Publix. The store is clean and well organized. The works are so friendly and helpful. I was actually told a personal story by the sweet checker, and the lady who loaded my bags for me walked me out to my car and unloaded the groceries for me! This reminded me of going to the store when I was a kid. (I'm only 34 but these niceties have really gone away over the years.) The prices are a little high but the food is always great and for that kind of service and cleanliness, I think it's worth it. The bakery gives kids free cookies and their cheesecakes are out of this world! I always count on their produce and salads to be fresh and in great condition. The sushi is actually good (I cannot find a decent sushi restaurant out here yet) and the workers are always offering free sauces to try with it. This is our go-to store. 5 stars all the way! read more

So incredibly disappointed by this Publix. We ordered subs online and went for our time for pickup. When we got there, they were not ready and there was no one in line at the deli. Two workers saw me approach and said they were going on break and walked away. Another worker asked if I had looked in the right area for the sub pickup. After confirming I had, she went to see what was going on and couldn't find my order and then magically found it. She said she would make them and for me to go grab anything else I need. When I went back instead of putting them with the sub pickup, she just had them laying on the counter while other people stood over them ordering their subs. Fast forward to getting home and the subs were all wrong. Mustard on one without mustard, missing the Turkey in the ultimate, the other sub only had roast beef and no Turkey or ham for the ultimate, the bread cut weird on one sub so when I opened it the stuffing was all out of the sub. And the list goes on. Basically no one in my house would eat them. I called and spoke to the manager who said I could come back in and get a refund if I brought my receipt... of course I'm just supposed to give his name and don't have anything in writing and he said he couldn't just refund the card since it was ordered online. So frustrating. We won't be doing online orders anymore... and won't be using this Publix . read more

I overheard one customer ask the lady in the bakery: why didn't she change her gloves since she was sweeping the floor and stopped to cut up bread ( touching ) food. Coming from FL and Publix being the #1 grocery store so I have been to A LOT of different Publix locations. This location easily has the slowest deli and sub line employees I have ever been to. They don't address customers the majority of the time and seem extremely unhappy. I live in this community now so it's really sad and disappointing compared to the Publix service we are used to. I basically feel like I'm going to Walmart when I go to the Deli or Sub line. I hope management sees this and seeks help and training from the Florida locations because this is not the Publix we know and praise. read more

The store it self is clean, however there are flies all over the deli department which is a complete turnoff. Flies on the machines they cut the meats at the deli and if you question the flies while there cutting your cold cuts they get very nasty. Hey I am paying for my food I want cleanliness so I can sit down when I get home and not think about flies contaminating my cold cuts I am eating. Also they never change their gloves gross. They answer the phone and go touch the door to get meats out of the fridge when they need a new cold cut they ran out of and never change their gloves. When I looked at all the flies and said its disgusting the guy opened a fly tape with the same gloves he continued to cut my cold cuts without ever changing his gloves. I never experienced such poor service and unsanitary habits as I did at this publix . Fies should be landing or flying on food people are consuming. This publix needs to do better. read more

I waited for over 20 minutes for service at the deli to order subs for my family. The lady that worked there was very slow and not pleasant. She didn't know what came on the subs and had to keep asking other people for help. I ordered two subs out of the four I was getting and they ran out of bread and she showed me some nasty looking wheat bread I could substitute. The first sub was a steak and cheese. she ran out of onions and said she couldn't get more and then when I asked for mushrooms she went and got the mushrooms and said while she was there she would get some onions for me. After I ordered the two subs and they ran out of bread I noticed just how bad it was with flies and empty containers. Fortunately I didn't see any flies on my food as it was being made. When I don't want to face the hassle of Walmart or I want superb fried chicken this is the store I visit. This store usually has everything in store that I need. I don't tend to complete my full weekly shop at this store because their prices (except for specials) are usually a lot higher than a store like Walmart. When I need some quick items though this store is great. If you stop by this store you must try their fried chicken. It is the best I've ever had. They make it in store so it is super fresh. Finally, the cashiers and baggers are always super friendly. Parking is also a breeze. read more

Today, I sent my husband to the Publix's on Central Street in Summerville SC. I had broken my foot so was unable to shop. My 71 year old husband got to the store and was very confused about the list I gave him. A Publix employee noticed his dismay and asked if she could help. She was amazing. She took my husband through the entire store to help him find all the items on my list. I am so grateful to her! This is going above all expectations. I'm not usually a fan of corporate slogans and taglines as they're 99% "filled-with-air", but Publix in Knightsville is "where shopping (really) is a pleasure". The area out there is lower income than much of Summerville and the shopping center is pretty new so the store is rarely busy besides a weekend. Every employee is practically climbing all over each other to help which is an extreme rarity in Charleston (customer service really is a joke here... but not "ha ha," funny) Prices are high so I don't do regular shopping there but they run some good specials and always seem to have steaks for cheap. I have a friend that works for the Pig's office & raved about how nobody has better steaks, blah blah, but Publix's steaks completely own the Pig's. Wine selection is very nice for a grocer and usually someone is roaming around that section to ask if they can help with our selection & gives a nice pointer every time (to a guy that worked on the other side for awhile: meaning, quality info). The bakery at Publix is outstanding for the price. We had our wedding cake made at the one over on Old Trolley and they did a perfect job. We have had numerous higher-end cakes made there since then and I wouldn't consider paying for a cake anywhere else. Toss in the nice touch of them still carrying ladies' shopping bags out to the car (or I guess guys' if you're a wuss). A Grocer has to do something bold to complete with Walmart and I'd say Publix does enough to be around Charleston for awhile longer. read more

I shop here continuously. I have bought my groceries here for years. Food is always neatly organized and you rarely find anything that is expired; unlike other grocery stores I have been to. The customer service is always polite and willing to help. The baggers help unload your cart at check out if needed. Baggers also always insist to help you out to your vehicle and help unload cart again for you. There is always a helping hand here. read more

I hate, let me emphasize h a t e, to grocery shop. But, this Publix makes grocery shopping tolerable. I like their user-friendly website. I like the fact that I can go online and place my order for the deli and it's ready for me when I get there. I like that there are many more higher end selections than Wal-Mart and Bi-Lo. Really, Publix is more like Harris Teeter, but better, and without the higher cost. The store is small enough that I can get through it pretty quickly, but big enough to stock things that i can't find at other places. The staff are among the sincerest and kindest people I've ever seen in a grocery store. If you're like me and you hate to grocery shop, try Publix - especially this Publix location. I think you'll find that grocery shopping isn't as bad as it is other places. It also helps that their fried chicken is scrumptious. Seriously, get some fried chicken while you're there. read more

This is my go to grocery store. I've shopped at Publix for more than 20 years in many different locations in several states. Lately, I have been more and more disappointed with this store in Knightsville. The deli is probably the worst I've ever encountered in a Publix. This was the actual deli, not the sub sandwich counter. While there today, I first walked by and there were two people waiting. I did some other shopping, then returned and was pleased to see that no one else was waiting for service. After a few minutes, an employee told me she'd be with me shortly. More than seven minutes elapsed (yes, I timed). Then another employee told me she'd be with me in a few minutes. That was beginning to sound like an automatic statement and not one that meant anything. There were four or five people behind that counter! Now, they were not idle. They were busy doing what they do. Probably special orders. However, don't you think that ONE person should be designated to serve the customers at the counter? I will admit that I lost it. My bad. I chose not to report to the manager at the time since I did not want those people filling my order after I complained. I will continue to go there because it's closest to my home, and perhaps they will improve. The meat department is terrific. The bakery is exceptional.
