I've shopped at Publix Super Market at Longboat Key for convenience, but the pricing here is beyond unreasonable. Everything is extremely expensive--far above what you'd expect, even compared to other Publix locations nearby. And no, simply blaming it on being "on an island" doesn't justify these markups. This is the only grocery store on Longboat Key, and it genuinely feels like that lack of competition is being taken advantage of. Everyday essentials are priced so high that it feels less like convenience and more like exploitation. I understand businesses need to cover costs, but there's a line--and this store crosses it. Residents and visitors shouldn't feel like they're being gouged just to buy basic groceries. I really hope Publix reevaluates its pricing here, because right now it leaves a bad impression and feels out of touch with the community it serves. read more

Great clean store really didn't have a chance to view each isle looks like this location has a lot of everything including special gourmet items. Unfortunately the ladies at the Sandwich counter (Friday, Sept 11, 2020) do not really know or care how to ensemble a sandwich let alone cut an avocado. I live on Longboat Key and often shop at Publix Longboat Key. The produce is frequently not fresh and spoils if not used immediately. Sometimes the produce on display is already too pld to use, but it is still for sale to someone in a hurry who doesn't inspect it carefully, this happens to me sometime. The deli staff needs improvement. The prices are high. Walmart, Detwiler's, Fresh Market or Costco are all superior to this Publix store. read more

People don't realize what great Bakery items are available at Publix. So when we hosted a casual wedding reception at our home I went to Publix to order cupcakes. I don't understand what a mask policy is for if you aren't going to enforce it. Can you not even ask people to put their mask on. People just walking around without a mask. The Publix on Longboat Key is a relatively new story. Very bright, wide isles and plenty of choices. There is a section with prepared food, from rotisserie and fried chicken to chinese to lasagna. The sections for fresh produce, meat and seafood look all very appealing. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. read more

This a recently rebuilt Publix. It is brightly lit and well stocked with not only normal shelf items, but a large prepared foods section: salad bar, Chinese food, lasagna, rotisserie chickens, and many more. The seafood and fresh meat departments are also beautiful displays with seafood or meat personnel ready to tell you how to prepare it, if you need help. When Publix decided to open out on Longboat Key it was a wonderful improvement to the Island. Previously, many, years ago, we had to stop and shop in Sarasota on the way from the airport, and worry about perishables(milk, cottage cheese, eggs) on the drive out to Longboat. Sometimes the drawbridge was up, slowing things down by another 8-10 minutes. The beautiful, new Publix is convenient and always busy. read more

I have been to this Publix 4 times. I neglected to check in once. Opps. The prices are about 20% higher due to its location but it is what it is. They have a great selection of wine and cheese. Love this Publix! The people who work here are very friendly. I love the hot bar, the sandwiches, the almond coffee cake, the lemonade, the tea, the produce, etc.. I love so many things about Publix it's hard to name them all. Sign up online for coupons and instead of clipping them, just put your phone number in when you are checking out and save, as easy as that. This is definitely my favorite Publix around. We have purchased 3 salads from this location in the past week and all have been soggy, slimy and not edible. Different varieties (two Spring mix and one Pear Gorganzola). All 3 had expiration dates at least 4 days from purchase, were opened on the day of purchase, and all were disgusting. Waited at the Deli three days ago for 7 minutes; 4 employees were behind the counter - not one of them acknowledged me. I waited patiently. Finally I gave up and left w/o what I wanted to buy. We live on LBK and shop almost daily at this Publix; I am a known customer. Very disappointed in the lower level of service and quality of product. On a positive note, the butcher was very accommodating when I asked him to cut a 5lb cut of Brisket down to 2-3lbs. Just want management to know that they have some issues. read more

Come to Longboat every year and my wife orders a dozen of their vanilla cupcakes with chocolate fudge icing. Loves them. Staff always friendly and helpful with what you need or are looking for. Some items cost a little more than you would see on the mainland but sometimes you have to pay for convenience. read more

This is a very busy location since it's smack dab in vacation central. My friends and I stopped in here twice during our recent trip to Longboat Key to load up on much needed essentials for our stay aka snacks and drinks! (Liquor section of Publix is next door) They are well stocked with product, sale prices are advertised, employees are friendly - basically what you would expect out of Publix. This location does cater to the vacationers so they have plenty of beach/pool essentials for purchase if you forgot your whale float or pool noodles! ;) Just be forewarned that it can get pretty hectic here based on time of day/time of year. From the outside this store looks out of business. No windows & nothing to lure you inside like plants or displays. Once inside it is nice. They close at 9 pm, so no late night snacks from them. We went back the next day. They have various cooking stations set up through the store. There were not any live demonstrations going on at the time, but the recipes were available and the ingredients were all gathered in one place in the quantity necessary. The Deli had both a hot section and salad/ luncheon meats section. They had a lady who would fix you right up with a submarine sandwich on a freshly baked, crispy loaf that almost looked like Cuban bread. The bakery had a nice selection, and had whole Key Lime pies for seven bucks. Nice employees, good quality produce, and reasonable prices. Brand new location which reopened in December 2012 (torn down old one and rebuilt), the place is immaculate. Usually the staff at any given Publix is upbeat and willing to help; the staff here (especially in the deli) vastly exceeded the normal Publix standards. This Publix is huge!! It has more amenities than I've ever seen at any other Publix including a full service event planner and a upscale salad bar wit hot foods as well. A group of friends and I were in town for the weekend and stopped here to stock up before hitting our hotel and the beach. It was a pleasant and unexpected spark to the start or our trip. Our first visit since the new store opened and we loved it. Bakery lady went into the back to try to find the girls a cream cheese coffee cake and brought us a fresh one out. Bread is delicious and so fresh. Wide isles, great salad and hot food bar, small but pleasant dining area, nice wine nook, lots more choices. It was very frustrating to go to the Publix supermarket on Bay Isles Parkway at 8:50 p.m. to order a sandwich at the deli and be rudely told that they weren't making any more sandwiches because everything was taken down for the night. Even after speaking to a manager (Emily) who then asked the employee to make the sandwich "because we're still open" the employee made no effort to assist. read more
