It's been decades since the last time I was in a Publix ... and none as nice as this one. The store is very large, bright and airy. Shelves and department cases were well stocked. Modern and welcome addition to a once isolated community. This huge store has a well organized parking lot and cart return area. There is a separate exit and entrance. The in store coffee shop with adjacent dining is similar to Whole Foods. There is self checkout option and the staff was decent. The usual nearby Chinese restaurant is China Taste University Walk. read more

Pharmacy is terrible. They don't answer the phone, they take weeks to fill a prescription unless you go in and confront them, they can't get anything right .... Terrible!!! read more

I waited 30 minutes for a sub with one person ahead of me in line the lady said she was over worked and was transferring because the managers did not help her. She was a very hard working employee did a very good job handling herself appropriately under pressure. DO BETTER PUBLIX Managers, and corporate!!! read more

The quality of the food in the deli and bakery goes down everytime I go here. They can't even make the bread right anymore so the subs are turning out terrible. They've gotten rid of their griddles and flat tops so all of their heated sandwiches aren't worth it even if they weren't screwing the bread up. It's still the best place for meats and veggies, and grocery items but for a cooking location I don't understand how they are making food this poorly. Doesn't give high hopes to their school.. or instructors.. And explains why the premade recipes/bake items don't turn out right either.. read more

I came in and purchased about $82 in items but the self checkout machine ran my card for $60 and some cents. I kindly asked the gentleman working the self checkout to take the items off so the authorized amount would cover it. No, instead he suspended the entire transaction. I went to pay with what I had on the card before I entered Publix and it did not authorize and saw the funds were taken out. Went to the customer service desk and explained the situation and was told there was nothing they could do about it. This was my family dinner for tonight and it was ruined because there was nothing they could do about their mistake. read more

A pretty nice supermarket for a middle market chain. They have a good selection of stuff, including a small wine and spirits area on the west side of the store at the back and an organic section on the east end near the door and the pharmacy. I've never had to wait too long at a check-out and I once even had the manager bag my groceries and offer to take them to my car. Customer service is excellent, unlike anything I've ever experienced in Toronto. The one draw back in my opinion is that the selection of organic produce is limited and produce in general is expensive. This seems to be true in the US across the board though. Why spend your money on broccoli when you can buy a whole cake full of saturated and transfats and a bottle of soda for the same price? This is the heart of the obesity issue in America. The wrong foods are subsized. It would be nice to see Publix take on a healthy food promotion campaign the way Walmart has done. In the mean time, you can fight tooth and nail with old people in Mercedes for the handicapped parking spots at this place. There's also a Panera and a Starbucks on the same strip. read more

Since I'm a huge food snob, I tend to steer clear of large food shopping type stores like this. I find that they tend to cater to big name brands and lower quality ingredients. When I walked in here, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by a large gluten free, natural and organic section. SCORE!! I was pretty excited to see a lot of the healthier boxed and bagged products I've grown to love over the years. There are 4 or 5 aisles to peruse. On a side note, I love the word "peruse," but I can't actually say it out loud. I always pronounce it "per use" and I'm pretty sure that's completely wrong, but nothing else feels right to me. Anyway, I was able to find most of my organic necessities within the natural section. After that, there was still so much more supermarket left to see. This place, like all the other Publix supermarkets, has a deli counter where they make their famous subs, a fresh fish counter that also has sushi to go and a bakery with bagels, cakes and pastries galore. They even have a pharmacy in the store. I mean can you even ask for more? Well I guess you can always ask for more. Each year when I'm in Florida visiting my partner's family, I go to a minimum of 5 Publix supermarkets. This is by far the biggest and best of all of them. read more

This dinner was REALLY good, so good that I wanted to say I made it all myself! Turkey was extremely moist, easy to prep and the dressing was really good. I just had the most disappointing encounter with the manager of the store. To his credit he did keep smiling when he told me that the prime rib roast that I ordered for Christmas was not there. But he offered NO apology and told me to take a Boneless NY strip roast from the case. That is not what I wanted nor what I ordered. It was clear that Publix has absolutely no interest in customer service. They have a monopoly in Sarasota and they don't need my business. Finally one of the workers in the meat department offered me HIS prime rib roast that he had in the back. Hmmmm. How many more were there? Terrible service and very disappointing. NEVER shopping at Publix again. Whole Foods here I come. read more

This is the closest grocery market for me, so I frequent it often. Everything is at least 10-20% more expensive here as compared to Super Target/ Walmart. ($8.99 watermelon v. $5 watermelon at Walmart) That is to be expected though, since it's located in Lakewood Ranch. Otherwise, good prompt service at check out. No membership needed. Has a deli + sandwich counter/meat counter/seafood counter. read more

This is my neighborhood Publix and I really like it although it is often so busy I can't bear to enter the door. I guess that's a testament to the popularity. I can always find what I need however I wish they had a bit better selection of Organic produce with more favorable prices. The bakery is great and I wouldn't buy a cake anywhere else but here. The deli is fabulous with their wide array of quality Boar's Head meats and cheeses. The organic food selection at the front of the store is also good. I guess what I would wish for is a bigger Publix on University. That's it! read more

So I'm sitting in the new Starbucks here at Publix, every seat is taken to my left and right by Publix employees talking about how much they HATE Starbucks- one manager said "I don't drink it, it's disgusting" okay fine you don't like Starbucks- so get you fat butt off there seats and leave room for those who do!!!!!! read more

This is a HUGE Publix. I wish we had this model in Orlando. It has a large Apron's demo section, HUGE Greenwise section, bakery and Deli...and a Carraba's cafe to sit down and eat or get take out and head home. My folks are here all of the time. I wish I wasn't sitting here today writing about another poor-service-at-Publix story but it really needs to be said. Before I get into the details, let me just say that management did fix the situation after my angry complaint when the people in the bakery department were utterly useless. However, since the problem NEVER should've happened in the first place, let this stand as a "buyer beware" kind of warning. In short, I special-ordered a custom birthday cake, days before pick-up, so this was not a last minute rush request. I showed the bakery person exactly which cake I wanted by pointing to one in the refrigerator case as an example; nothing tricky here. He even walked that cake back to the person who would decorate my ordered cake, just so there would be no confusion. It could not have been simpler. Today, when I arrived to pick-up my cake it looked absolutely nothing like the one I ordered; the colors were even incorrect. And this was after they double-checked the details by phone the day before! But rather than apologize for the mistake or offer some promise to fix the problem, the person who presented it to me simply turned his back and walked away. Pretty astounding behavior. There was another person working beside him who also did nothing, said nothing. I decided rather than taking home a cake I no longer wanted, that I should to speak with management. She readily offered to fix the cake to my satisfaction and discounted the now, remodeled cake, by four dollars. Should this have happened at all? Of course not. Just know that when you order a so-called custom cake at this store you're liable to get whatever they feel like giving you. Happy Birthday? Don't think so. read more

Publix is always a great shopping experience. This particular location is very convenient, and they have everything you need. They have a great bakery, deli, meat department, and fish. Usually a decent selection of fruits, veggies.... But damn, the service is hit or miss....usually miss. Bakery staff is super annoyed at anyone wanting anything. Deli staff has always been friendly. But the checkout clerks are horrible! Sometimes they are rude...sometimes they are not responsive and sometimes they just grunt. We live close so this one and is our Publix we always go to. We enjoy it here and def recomed it. However, do not buy their Doughnuts! We bought a few about 8 years ago and horrible. So, we wanted to give them another try today to see if they improved annnnnnd NO! I bought a "apple fritter" and in my opinion it was like a cinnamon roll NOT a fritter and a bad cinnamon roll at that. Also bought a chocolate covered raised doughnut and it was bearly ok. 2 stars for the staff. They are absolutely wonderful and friendly. Except for the meat section. Is it just me? Because every time I go to the produce section the tomatoes are soft and on their way to rotten. Every bag of potatoes I buy I end up chopping most of it off because they are rotten. I'm very tired of throwing away so much costly produce. The prices have gone UP and the quality has gone DOWN! Let's not get started on the "fresh chicken, pork, steak, lamb" I have taken to stabbing the plastic and giving the "sniff for rotten" meat test. There have been too many times to count that when I have gotten home only to discover that the chicken or beef or pork or lamb is "off!" I find myself searching the web for cheap fresh produce that is edible more often lately. Not from Publix! read more

The bakery in this PUBLIX is outstanding. sure, they use tried and trusty recipes for their cookies, cakes, muffins, etc but they all taste fresh and as if they came from a custom bakery. But the real gem i8s that they really, really know how to make a Challah bread, seeded Rye and god honest REAL bagels that taste the way the are supposed to. All the other bakeries and even Dunkin Donuts don't take the time to make them the traditional way and that's why all the others are really fakes. While the PUBLIX bagels are not huge (good for the waistline) they toast perfectly and taste soooo good with a little cream cheese. These bakers are GOOD!! Make a special trip toward end of week to get the freshest and best. read more

Love this Publix but specifically going to talk about their deli here. I love their sandwiches. It might take a little while to get them (they're only set up for 2 people to make sandwiches sided by side and sometimes they can get backed up) but they take their time and get the sandwich right. When you've got picky eaters that's a big deal. Food is always delicious. read more
