We started researching it and found that they will use some kind of saline solution (Sodium Tripolyphosphate) to preserve the longevity of the fish. The effect of this solution is an exaggerated puffing of the fish enlarging it and turning the fish into an inedible rubber texture. Awful! How in a place surrounded by water and local fishing, can fresh fish not be in markets - but sold like it is fresh?

Taste wise it was it was decent but I didn't get full from it. I went on a weekday afternoon and they had a steady stream of customers but only one guy manning everything so service was not the fastest. I think they close at 8 so you know it's not a normal "convenience store." Pro tip: always ask a Mexican where they are from, when they reply "Mexico" make a face and ask them where they're FROM. The will always laugh and tell you the state they're from. The girl at the counter was from Michoacan.

On Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, I was leaving the store/garden center with my purchase and receipt in hand when Joel the Walmart greeter asked to see my receipt....I had NO problem at all with providing him this information, he was doing his job. He then started questioning me about a product that didn't scan correctly on my receipt against the barcode on the box. I never even looked at what was scanned at the checkout lane I paid for the items I purchased. After he pointed out the discrepancy, I IMMEDIATELY, went to the Customer Service Counter to point out this. He/Joel the greeter all but ACCUSED me of theft in front of shoppers and other employees. I AM NOT A THIEF. I purchase items. I do not program Walmart's scanning system.
