I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at Publix today. The cashier, NARIYAH, never greeted me, never smiled, and acted as though she didn't want to be there. I said "Hello" first, and she mumbled a quiet "hi" back. When the transaction was over, there was no "thank you," no "have a nice day," and no acknowledgment whatsoever. The entire interaction came across as rude and dismissive. Ironically, the bagger was the only bright spot. He was friendly, polite, and wished me a nice day, which I truly appreciated. Publix has always built its reputation on outstanding customer service, but unfortunately that reputation seems to be slipping. Management should be paying closer attention to the customer experience and coaching employees who interact with the public. A simple greeting, a smile, and a sincere "thank you" cost nothing, yet they make all the difference. This experience was disappointing and not what I've come to expect from Publix. read more

He was talking to the bagger( no problem with that) but then when I paid he looked the other way while holding my receipt out for me to take! I really love this super Publix! It's not as close as the other Publix, so we don't stop by as often or else I'd love to come here instead. This location is clean and I get seafood here because it's very fresh. Today, they had Snow Crab clusters for $10.99 vs. normal price of $13.99. I also love getting my seafood steamed, such as catfish with Cajun seasoning for FREE - this way I don't have to dirty a pan when I get home. For the most part, shopping their BOGO or items on discount is the smartest because it can def. Get expensive if you don't! read more

Nice Publix with an older clientele. I usually go to the Publix in Westchase off of Linebaugh because it is closer, but my son and I were going to the Safety Harbor Library for toddler sign time and this was on the way. I just needed to pick up gallon ziplock bags but we decided to walk around a bit. The first thing I noticed is the clientele here is older. There are a lot of retirees, like an overwhelming amount. This is great for me because older people are generally more accepting of a toddler walking up and trying to be their friend. We definitely got more hellos and waves than at our Publix. Like most Publix this one is clean and orderly. It's on the smaller side, but since I don't cook I didn't feel like it was missing any super important ingredients. We still couldn't find my husband's Ben and Jerry's s'mores ice cream. Instant five stars from him the moment we find it. I ended up not getting the gallon zip lock bags, because it was over $10 for 60 bags. This might be the normal price, but it made me rethink my wasteful ways and I decided I could use tupperware to store what I was going to use it for. So yes, we did walk in and out without getting anything, but I enjoyed my time here and we will definitely stop by again if we are in the area, if for nothing else but to say hello to everyone. read more

Being from up north I haven't been spoiled my entire life by this top notch grocer experience. No disrespect to Market Basket or Demoulas but I'm still in awe whenever I go food shopping at Publix. The Pharmacy is open until 8pm every week night and till 6 on weekends. It is staffed with the most helpful and caring team I've ever dealt with at any pharmacy. They're accessible via phone and do not keep you waiting long at the counter. The bakery is stacked with temptress carbohydrates that I pretend don't exist. Bread addicts beware. I've always turned my nose up at citrus desserts but Publix key lime and mango key lime pies have changed my life. Top notch and not expensive. Fresh produce with organic choices popping up left and right. When you hear the "thunderstorm" roll in make sure to back away from the vegetation before you get wet. The deli certainly upholds its reputation. Boars Head or Publix brand meats served on soft, fresh sub rolls topped with all the fixings and reasonably priced. You can't get a better sub in the Tampa Bay area. The fried chicken is a fat kids dream come true. The rotisserie chicken and wings are hot, fresh and perfect for the nights I don't feel like cooking. The seafood counter serves up sushi (not bad for supermarket-grade) and a variety of wild caught and farm-raised fishes. This particular location doesn't have live lobsters but they're usually priced over $10/lb -This New Englander can't handle that concept. No meat counter either but anything you need is just a friendly butcher away. I've had to wait around for someone to help me but they'll cut anything up for you. The Greenwise products are their healthy "green" options and tend to be higher priced than the regular branded items. I can vouch for the tenderness and quality of the greenwise meats. Organic Greenwise snack food, eggs, and dairy products are also great. Worth the little extra to me. Depending on the location you can learn to cook at the Aprons cooking school. Once in a while a chef at the sample station will cook up a Publix recipe. You can literally fill a cookbook with their abundance of FREE binder-ready recipe cards. Checking out is typically hassle free. I never wait longer than 5 minutes at this location. Cashiers are very friendly. If anything rings up incorrectly the service desk refunds the item. The baggers almost always offer to help load bags into your car. Aisles embedded with everything on my shopping list and accommodating most food allergies. Publix isn't cheap but they often run BOGO specials and offer generous coupon fliers. Phenomenal customer service and smooth layout that truly makes shopping a pleasure. read more

Short & sweet: * Large isles, super clean store, fully stocked with lots of choices in everything from meats, to seafood, to canned goods, to beer & wine. * They even have a champagne isle, perhaps as it's Christmas week & just a few days 'til NYE. * Lots of deli choices, with a long line of folks waiting for store-made sandwiches & hot foods. * I'm apt hunting & staying in a nearby hotel, so I appreciate the hot soups (most stores don't have this during Covid... the lobster bisque is very tasty & only $4.99 for a full quart... Whole Foods' soups are the same price for 8-oz), pre-packaged salads & hot chicken. * Prices are good, cashiers are pleasant. * Good parking... it's always filled, so be prepared to walk a bit. Cons: * Nuthin'... really good store. When I move into my apt, I'll do a Costco run for staples, but this will be my go-to store for grab-n-go offerings... fruits, vegs, deli mainly... or, if I don't need 500-oz of mustard in 1-pkg. Costco will probably have better, cheaper options for beef & their no-preservatives, giant, $4 roast chickens can't be beat. read more

An average Publix that could use some updates. There is no salad bar in the deli, which is really disappointing. There are some prepackaged salads and sandwiches in one of the refrigerated cases, but that's not nearly the same. This location is very convenient for me to grab lunch during the week, and I will say my experience at the deli counter has been mostly pleasant. They were almost completely out of bread one time, however, the only option being wheat. Apparently they "missed their delivery," according to the manager. Don't they have a bakery right next to the deli counter? I guess they're not allowed to use too-fresh bread. Some good points are that the "fewer than 10 items" lanes move quickly, and the cashiers are friendly, true to Publix form. The layout is generally the same as any Publix you've been to before, but it needs some updates to be on par with locations like the renovated one on Anderson and Gunn. read more

I'm always shopping via a well organized and categorized list my wife emails to me. But, I typically get half a dozen items that weren't on the list... Oops! Hubby and I stopped here after working out and I keep telling myself that I don't like this Publix, but they are convenient to my health club. This time was no difference. Each time I come here I have a bad experience. Either the kids they have working here are trained poorly, or customer service doesn't matter at this Publix. I asked the young lady at the service counter if she could look up the western union payment I make monthly with my phone number and she said that I would have to fill out the paper. Now, again I do this monthly but this was the first time I tried to do it at this store. So instead of shopping here I left and will go to "my" Publix where they are friendly and have no problem looking things up. I'm not sure if they are training kids incorrectly or again customer service means nothing, but each time I have had an experience here it was a youth involved. Get it together Publix or better yet I will just make the drive to the trusty Publix I know and have grown to love. read more

I go in this publix 2-3 times per week. The location is very convenient for me since it's in the same plaza as my gym. The deli counter staff is very friendly and helpful. I frequent get one of their fresh rotisserie chickens (their Mojo and barbecue seasoned are my favorites). There is a small fridge next to the deli counter with a few pre-sliced Boars Head meat and cheese ready to go if you're in a hurry. The shelves are usually well stocked and finding what you need isn't too much of a challenge. Occasionally something on bogo is sold out but you can grab a rain check and pick it up anytime within the next month. There's no meat counter where you can get a good look at your steak before you buy it but there's plenty of meat in the fridge ready for you to choose one I haven't used the pharmacy very often but the staff are always attentive. The parking lot is poorly designed and can be be a little difficult to get out of during the afternoon rush hour. read more

Before moving to Tampa Bay I never would have thought of "liking" a grocery store. Grocery shopping was always a necessary evil - we need food and there was only one way to get it. It was not until I discovered my first Publix that I actually started enjoying (yes, I said enjoying) grocery shopping. Since then, Publix has become my favorite grocery store and a place I know I will consistently receive good service no matter when or which location I decide to visit. I hesitated to write this review because sometimes it felt like this location is one of the few Publix locations that are not constantly packed - and I really hope that doesn't change. In fact, it is typically easy to get in and out of the store without spending much time waiting in line for a register. If lies are long they always seem to open more registers and even take customers at the customer service desk. The only place I've ever had to wait long at this location is the deli (depending on the time of day and day of the week I visit). That issue is easy to remedy by placing an order in advance online, and then when I walk into the store my deli order is bagged and waiting for me in a designated case near the deli! The meat and produce departments at this Publix really go above and beyond. If I only need a few veggies that are wrapped together in a large package, they are happy to break it down for me into the number of items I need. The staff in the meat department have always gone out of their way to help whenever asked - they break down larger packages, find items in the back that are sold out on the shelves, cut meats to specifications, and anything else needed. The meat department offers some great ready-to-cook meals that are packaged for customers to pick up. When I know I'm heading over and want to be sure they have something I'm looking for (like the spiral-wrapped steak, spinach & provolone), I call in advance and they have the packages ready when I arrive. All of this is done with a smile and a great attitude - no matter how busy they are, the staff always seems happy to help. Customer service goes a long way for me, and Publix sets the bar very high in this area, which is why it has been my favorite grocery store for years. read more

Publix has been my go-to grocery store ever since I moved to Florida many years ago. Yeah it can be more expensive than those super-discount chains, but I'll gladly pay the extra money for a very clean store with friendly & helpful associates and a terrific selection of items. When I was married and used to live in Westchase this was one of the two Publix that I used to visit regularly. She-who-must-never-be-named and I would make our regular pilgrimages to Publix to load up on the staple items for the pantry and freezer, and then stop in during the week for fresh fruits, veggies, and dinner ideas. This particular Publix is located along Race Track Road and Hillsborough Avenue extended, right before you cross the magical line into Pinellas County. The shopping center is across Race Track from the Oldsmar Flea Market, and it contains a big Lowe's, YouFit Health Club, Cracker Barrel, Publix, and some other retail outlets. We would either stop at the smaller Publix on Linebaugh Avenue and Countryway Boulevard in the heart of Westchase (better known as the "little" Publix), or this one on Race Track Road known as the "bigger" Publix. Truth be told, this particular Publix is a medium-sized store within their chain (as compared to the big one on Gunn Highway across from Sickles High School). What I like about this store is that the associates will go out of their way to help you find particular items - even if they are clear across the store. The associates were happy to lead you over to the correct aisle, and then look through the selection of products until you find what you need. They don't view this as an annoyance, but rather as an opportunity to say 'Thanks for shopping here, how can I help you?'. I've had great experiences at the butcher case, and enjoyed some terrific conversations with the people who will break down one of their packaged items to give you what you need, or even carve it fresh off of a larger cut of meat. One of the butchers would regularly stop and chat with me, and provide cooking tips as he was carving up some special steaks. I was always very appreciative for their excellence in customer service. Now that I live over in Carrollwood I visit a different set of Publix grocery stores for my regular shopping, but still stop into this store whenever I'm in the Oldsmar / Westchase area and need to pick up a few items. read more

Appearance: 5 stars Customer Service: 3 stars This is the Publix I go to only when it's on the way to wherever I'm going. I've had more than one bad customer service experience here, but the one that sticks out in my mind was when a deli clerk threw a tantrum over having to make my sub. Apparently she was about to go home and I walked up to the counter so she had to stay. She complained so much that I told her to forget it and said I didn't want a sub anymore. Fearing disciplinary action, the clerk quickly called me back over and apologized stating that she was only upset because Publix gets mad if you stay past the time you're meant to leave. I was thisclose to reporting her, but decided to have some compassion. I bit my tongue and let her make my sub. I'm sure I'll be back here out of necessity, but this Publix location will never be a priority. read more

This Publix is your average Publix. It has a huge parking lot so finding a parking spot is always fairly easy. Inside is a good size and it is very spread out and it doesn't get very congested which is nice. My biggest issue with this Publix is the deli area. I go here frequently to pick up a sandwich or a hot meal. When I order a sandwich online and go to pick it up, half of the time it is ready the half of the time they are still making it which is super inconvenient. Sometimes they don't have all of the items in the deli (side items, chicken, etc...). During lunch hours they get very low on some items and everything isn't available. For a company like Publix who is on top of everything, its very poor planning. I wish this area would improve at this location. The staff and cashiers are usually very nice and they do a good job of actually keeping most lanes open all of the time. read more

We love Publix, and this location is our favorite. It sits back off of a busy street, so it's much easier to enter and exit the huge parking lot. The store is so clean and well-organized, it's inviting! Every aisle is completely stocked and in order, and there is never an empty spot, no matter how good the special sale may be. The team the handles stocking the shelves are always doing a great job, and are so helpful whenever asked for direction or assistance. The meat section, dairy, produce and others all look like they are about to be part of a training film on 'how to operate the perfect supermarket.' The staff and management all understand how important and volatile customer service is these days. I believe they realize good service with a smile makes a customer want to return, and bad service or ignoring customers kills their loyalty. I been coming to this publix for about a year. The reason I'm giving this publix location a 1 start is because their deli department never fails to disappoint. Every time I go there between 12-1 pm there's never enough people working the department and the ones working are super slow. Also, the times I purchased the lunch meal they don't put enough food. You have to tell them to put more if not you will go hungry (I'm not kidding). A lot of times the food is not fresh or they will serve you something that looks like it's been sitting there for hours. It's great to have a grocery store so close by...this one is literally 5 mins away. The deli has a good selection of Boar's head cold cuts. The vegetables and fruits are fresh. The butcher is super friendly and willing to look in the back for any type of meat for you or even cut up one for you. The saying first impressions are important stands firm, particularly when I walk into a grocery. Most publix I walk into you always get that inviting smell of fresh baked goods or an overall cleanliness. My publix, though smaller than some others, plays to my favor as staffing remembers the regular shoppers and engages with a greeting or general conversation. My highlight of my publix is my seafood guy, who is always welcoming and informative of the seafood selections. Though the meat department does not have a butcher display section as some of the newer stores do, they do offer custom cuts if you ask someone in that department. When unsure of finding something specific and it seems like you scowered every isle trying to find it, I have continuously bothered the stock help and they immediately stop what they are doing and either find the product, direct me in the direction of it or find someone else who may know of it. It's a quick stop on the way home, and it would be so much more convenient for me if they were stocked. The parking lot is horrible too.
