I went to this Walmart which was closest to me for the convenience. I needed to get a money gram pickup. When entering the store at about 2pm there was a barricade partially across the customer service area but had 5-6 customers in line, so I got in line. The man in front of me turned and said customer service is closed. I went to the associate at self checkout and she went over to find out. She told me the customer service closing because he is leaving early and has no replacement. I have never seen this ever. She suggested going to the "other" Walmart 6 miles away. Not really right to me, I needed to get this done. I hate that Walmart can't find enough employees to work. I think I may go elsewhere from now on. read more

The seniors who work at this store are the heart of this store. They are so kind, so thoughtful and helpful. If I have any questions or need assistance they are the ones who take time to answer or help me. There was a gentleman in returns, I wish I got his name but he was so helpful and was everything you want in terms of kindness and customer service. Our go-to Walmart for anything and everything! This location is super convenient- it's about 5 mins away from our home and I love that they're open 24/7 as sometimes I work late in the evening and aren't able to go grocery shopping until wee hours. Staff are always changing but nonetheless always providing good customer service. Never had a rude staff and I think that's crucial to every business. Over the years I've been here in South Tampa, this Walmart has gotten well-maintained. The walkways and shelves are more organized making it easy for me to find what I'm looking for. Best of all, they FINALLY have self-service check out registers! Last few years, omg, every time I shop during the evening, on days I only had to get a few things, I would still have to wait in line over 30 minutes. I'm glad they finally have this option for those wanting to just get in and get out. Lastly, kudos to the guy who always grab carts and put it back in the store for our convenience. I've only seen the same guy over and over working on the carts. I think they should hire more staff to work solely on getting the carts back. His diligence doesn't go unnoticed. I go to this location all the time. And again I was stopped and asked to see my receipt because I had a 24 pack of water along with the rest of my groceries. I had the receipt sent to my phone and didn't have it on me. This is outrageous to stop someone just because I had the water. There was no reason for them to hold me there and I was able to leave. I called customer service about this and they said this shouldn't have happened. But in a previous review on here . I complained about the same guy stopping me in the past....so watch out for him. He's very aggressive if you don't stop. A Hispanic male, with glasses and short dark hair and he's always standing in the entrance/exit area of the store. This time customer service sent me to their ethics department to make a complaint there about this guy. So if you feel this guy is always stopping you. Then call the ethics department 1-800-963-8442 to report him.....or maybe a different person that might be stopping you all the time. read more

This is my go to Walmart. It's close to my house and has just about everything I need. It's clean and the staff are friendly for the most part. It can get really crowded so I try to go there mid-week at night. The self-checkout is great but for full basket loads I prefer the regular checkout. I've started using the delivery off the website for some things and that has been quick and convenient. As always I wish they had a higher focus on customer service for those times I need a return or help with an item, but I understand they are focused on other things. read more

It's Walmart, what do you really expect? It's a particularly busy location in South Tampa in the not best part of town. So? It can be hard to find an associate, but treating them with a little human dignity when you do goes a long way. Typically I would only purchase canned goods or shampoos here. The produce is undesirable, but once again I will reiterate this is Walmart. The staff was friendly and helpful in the garden and home departments. They could open up more registers if the lines start to get long. Depending on your budget it can be your best friend or worst enemy. Shop at your own risk. read more

I have never had a problem with this Walmart as with all walmarts there are a couple beggars around the parking lot so make sure you are vigilant walking in-and-out to in from your car but I have found that there is normally a Tampa police vehicle and I assume officer around which is great and my experience with customer service has been amazing I've never had a problem finding what I need or returning what broke or did not meet my standards and it is a clean organized not claustrophobic environment. One bit of advice is when it comes to tax season avoid this Jackson Hewitt tax location in general I do like Jackson Hewitt... I know I'm not the only one who've had that "I'm not home anymore" moment when your out of town. Well I had mine at this Walmart first thing it isn't the regular blue building this building is beige with beige signs and logos it throws you off but it looks better. Now inside is CLEAN and when I say CLEAN I mean CLEAN I've never been to any walmart anywhere else thats spotless like this one. Lol, I hate coming to Walmart. I hate the crowd, I hate waiting in the long lines, but with 4 kids I just can't stay away... I find myself coming to walmart for everything. Prescriptions, groceries, house hold supplies, toys, bikes, video games, lol, the list goes on... I swear I come here 2 or three times every week. I've been to just about every Walmart in Tampa atleast once at some point over the years. This Walmart by far is probably one of the best ones. They have several speedy checkout lines. They do not have self check out which I think is a plus. I hate those things. There is always an issue which holds the line up and then you have to wait for an associate. This Walmart does not get nearly as packed as the One on Dalemabry and I don't find myself having Anxiety trying to get in and out. There are always carts available and always cleaning wipes nearby. One word, Bud Light with Clamato. I know, that's not one word and EWWWW, but that's basically the only Bud Light I'd drink. I can't find it at any of the Walmart in St Pete, so if I want it, I'd have to cross Gandy Bridge to this WM. (I think I can see my craft beer drinking friends wincing.) We have the dubious honor of having become expert on the Walmart stores of Hillsborough County, having frequented the ones on Gibsonton Drive, W. Kennedy Blvd, N. Dale Mabry, and Causeway Blvd. Each one has it's own pros and cons.. mostly cons.. but it's a great opportunity for management to show through because much of the Walmart experience is based on the employees that are hired and how the stores are run. The Walmart on Gandy Blvd is far and away the best run! Busy or slow, day or night you find the same things: Friendly people - they're helpful, make eye contact and smile. Efficient People - Have you ever seen the rarely found FAST and efficient Walmart cashier? It's easy to spot one at the Gandy Store! Shopping Carts - you can always find one, and it's clean. I know, everyone hates Walmart. But I don't hate Walmart, especially not this Walmart. This is my local, neighborhood Walmart and I shop here about once a week. For the most part it's clean, well-lit, pretty well-organized, and has a friendly staff. That is not to say that everyone that works here is friendly, sometimes I do run into one or two staff members who aren't. But for the most part the employees are very helpful. Particularly on my visit today. The woman who checked me out was very attentive to the customer in front of me, asking if he was a veteran and thanking him for his service and then proceeding to very kindly show him how to use the credit card device. She was also thoughtful to make sure I had a divider when I begin unloading my groceries. She was friendly and as she checked me out, we made small talk. She inquired if I had coupons and encouraged me to take the survey (which I will do as I always do). Walmart always has the best prices, their prices beat the sale prices of most other grocers. And if the prices at a competitor are cheaper, they have a wonderful app called Savings Catcher which allows you to get paid for the difference. All you do is scan your receipt at the end of your shopping trip, then Walmart will email you a couple of days later letting you know which items were cheaper at another retailer. Then they'll put the difference on a virtual gift card that you can use later. You can just keep saving and saving until you have enough to pay for a whole grocery shopping trip. It's the most convenient competitive shopping app I've seen. read more

My wife and I shop here on a regular basis and it is usually what you'd expect from a Wal-Mart; not bad, not great... Just a routine place to pick up necessities. I like going to Walmart, but sometimes I avoid it because it does not have the same quality of service or cleanliness as Publix. When I came here I expected to find the same, but I was impressed with this Walmart. Usually when yo go to Walmart you always find things unorganized and on the floor, boxes in the isles. This Walmart had everything organized, and I found the things that I was looking for vey easily. When I went to check out I was greeted with a smile, which is unusual for Walmart, but a very nice surprise either way. The cashier was very nice and even had a conversation with me while scanning my things, she also helped put the bags in the cart, and that kind of serve is always nice to receive. First off, I am not a fan of the Rebel Alliance. I am pretty impartial to Walmart unlike every other review here. Apparently Yelpers just have a moderate disdain for shopping at a Super center with such low costs. It must really hurt them to admit that they've stooped to such a level in their lives where they can buy cheap groceries, guns, car parts, and hygiene products all in one convenient stop. Today we were in Walmart looking for some type of sifter for our kids to use at the beach. Looking in the fishing area, we asked an employee if they had anything. We explained that our kids wanted to look for shells and shark teeth in the sand. The employee then walked us from her section to the beach toys, then to home goods. When we found a few items that might work, she still went to find an employee in another section she knew could help us. They took us to the office section to find the perfect "tool" for our kids beach experience. These employees went above BX beyond, they are exactly what customer service is all about!! Whenever I need to do a Walmart run I make sure to only use this location. Everybody knows what to expect from a Walmart; lower prices and you can get everything on your shopping list from clementines, to a grill, or even kitty litter, but there are some that you just don't want to deal with going into.
